I LOVE Delia's! But today I witnessed an older woman behind the counter yell at a young worker who was doing her best to help a very long line of customers on Super Bowl Sunday. It seemed so unprofessional for her to shout at an employee in front of the customers especially when I saw how hard the young worker was working/trying. My husband is from the East Coast where "grinders" are a big thing and he's been trying to find the perfect equivalent here in CA. This place was recommended to us as a possible "fit" for his grinder craving. Unfortunately it didn't meet our standards. The good: bread and ingredients. The bad: they only had oil; an authentic grinder/sub is dressed with vinegar and oil. When we asked the person taking our order about any vinegar she said they don't have any, much like it was unusual to ask for. It's not her fault that this shop didn't have vinegar to dress their subs. With "Grinders" in the name, these subs should be made more authentically. We most likely will not return. read more

Me and my family (3 of us) drove 20 minutes to get this food. We are from Virginia, and was so excited to finally get a sandwich here. We walked in at 6:59 (website said they closed at 8) and the people there said they were closed. They closed in one minute and refused to help us. Even another customer was behind us, and was very bummed out that they would not help us. I work in customer service, and help any customer who walks in until one minute after the time posted on the door. Terrible customer service. Very disappointed. read more

To whom it May concern at Delias Grinders You have an issue at the Van Buren location, the following is my latest experience: Had a wife who wasn't feeling well and two kids to feed before I went to work and had my wife call in a food order to Delias Grinders on Van Buren - My wife has been going to Delias since she was a kid and thinks of them as comfort food. We have had issues with the Van Buren location since they opened - they can't seem to get our orders right. They also had the deep fryer break and it stayed down for 6 months. This location is not very busy, and my guess is I'm not the only one who has had issues with them. Our latest issues. On April 19, 2023, my wife placed an order for 1/2 cheese grinder with no black pepper (she is allergic) two fries and a cheeseburger. We were charged $10.64 but we are frequent eaters and had a $2.50 off coupon which I used so the total was $8.14. I did not ask my wife what she ordered, I was in a hurry, I just picked up the food and brought it home. My mistake. What we got... 1/2 cheese with black pepper and one fry... Okay we call back and complain - we are told we can come back and pick up the order paying for the extra items (would cost me 45 min to 1 hour round trip) or they would credit our card for the $8.14 and we could just miss dinner or at the least do something else for dinner. We told them to credit the card. Two days later - no credit... I called to ask what happened and was told: We cannot credit your card because we didn't pay. Um let me see I left there with the food... that means they gave me the wrong order for free. Then they explain - No wait another person with MY NAME ordered almost the same thing - his order was a 1/2 a cheese with black pepper and a fry. He ordered it at the same time as our order and happened to have my name. This store is not busy nor was it a busy time of the day for food (2:30 p.m. between lunch and dinner) My order was linked to my phone number and my frequent eaters account SOOO... I'm not sure how that happened. The manager named Khalil explained that it was not their fault, and they were not refunding my money. I explained that I was going to call the store on university and talk to someone there... He called back after 20 minutes and told me he was refunding my money. This was a huge waste of time for a simple meal. Even taking the time to complain and write this review so others will not bother with this location, I feel like a lighthouse warning of the dangerous waters ahead if you dare to order from Delias on Van Buren. The management needs to listen up - If you do not put competent people in the management positions, you can flush this store and any future profits down the toilet. Once your reputation is tarnished enough the location itself will not recover. This place is close to that now. We won't be back to this location ever. read more

Had a mix up and got the wrong sandwich. Did not check the order until we were already home. Went back and asked if we could exchange for the correct sandwich. Without question they replaced the sandwich we received for the correct one. It was probably just a switched order. They were pretty busy. Hadn't been here in awhile. Had the full steak sandwich and it was great. The meat was fresh, tender, juicy and the bread was perfect. My wife had a few bites of my sandwich and really enjoyed it. We decided to go again the next day to have the same sandwich since it was so good on the previous day. No such luck! The sandwich was terrible, meat was dry and it had a lot of fat. I mean a lot, in every bite there several pieces of fat. Did not enjoy at all. What I know now about D'elias is that they are not consistent with the food preparation. They also have a posting on the door asking everyone that a mask must be worn. I did see people walk in not wearing a mask. Won't be getting anything from here anytime soon. read more

Superbowl Sunday I ordered a party sub and it was DELICIOUS (as usual). The staff was extremely helpful, kind, and efficient!

This spot serves the Delicious Cold and Hot grinders along with some crispy on the outside and soft inside fries. Delias is taking COVID-19 procedures seriously which gives me peace and comfort. Every time I get a grinder here, it is different. Sometimes there is not enough meat and sometimes it's great. And their web site does not let you contact them. No customer service. I will not be going back. UPDATE! The owner contacted me right away and discussed this with me. I did find out that the 12" has the same meat as the 6" which would definitely make it look skimpier. Which makes sense since the 12" is only a few cents more. I will be going back as they do care about their customers and I really do love their grinders! read more

Always delicious and a fav my entire life. My family has been coming here since the 60's. D'Elia's is so much more to me than a delicious grinder. They are childhood memories, Neighbourhood memories, I was raised just around the corner, and especially memories with my parents and late grandmother that will last me a lifetime. If you like bread with little in it, this is the place for you. They forgot the onions on the Philly Steak sandwich and the Steak Fuego sandwich had minimal steak. You would like that for $9 and $11 there would be alittle more to these "Subs". Save yourself the money and go to Subway. Way better on portions, cheaper and the wait - well for the 2 sandwiches and a hamburger - the wait was 20 minutes. I would have given them 1 star but the hamburger was fairly good.
