Super friendly staff at this location , food is always great especially the philly d'fuego

My family has been going to D'Elias for fifty years I think. Sadly the past couple of years has been sad and very frustrating. The bread is still amazing, but when Covid stared they took their very special hot pepper out from the front help yourself section. My family likes ALOT of the hot pepper (though I like a little less.). Three years ago I asked for hot pepper and they put on so much I couldn't eat the sandwich. So I stopped getting pepper on my sandwich and would just take some home with me in a napkin. Now I have to ask for it on the sandwich and it is all over the map. AND they will NOT give us any of the red pepper. Tonight my sister paid $1.50 for a small container of it. The sandwiches had a little, none and 13 flakes (I counted). All were supposed to have pepper. They have also begun skimping on the shredded lettuce. I understand that there may be new people working there - but man, what is the deal with the "you cannot have hot pepper" when that is one of the things that makes the sandwich. If I go there again, I plan to just buy a loaf of their bread and make my own sandwiches at home. I might as well. I can't get the red pepper and almost no lettuce. I have loved this family run business for decades, sad it seems to have lost the quality of a small family business. read more

I've been going to the University location for years but recently started going to the new location since it's closer to me. It is all about the bread. Flaky on the outside and soft inside. My go-to is the whole ham grinder. Very simple sandwich but I love it! read more

20 minutes wait when I'm the only one there, to make 1 cold sandwich. I walked up to counter to ask about my food, they ask, "what order is mine & what kind of sandwich"? IM THE ONLY ONE THERE! I placed a catering order of 3 4foot subs and asked for the lettuce and tomatoes on the side. When I went to pick it up and got home I saw that they even put the meat on the side. I was so pissed! It took even more time for me to put the sandwiches together. The whole reason I ordered from them is because they have good subs and I didn't want to have to make my own damn sandwiches, and paid almost 200 for freaken bread, meat and veggies!! but I ended up making my own damn sandwiches anyways. Had a turkey and avocado. The bread was amazing they have one of those cool soda machines that even has grape powerade. Menu is super easy to run through and it smelled so good. Easy pay system, the bathrooms were clean and freshly stocked. Parking was good and i could pull in from both major roadways. Super glad i stopped in and i'll be back again soon. read more

We have gone to D'Elias since I was a small child. 40 years at least. My daughter and I went last night and were disappointed. The normally crunchy bread was soft and chewy. When we unwrapped the sandwiches they resembled subway sandwiches in that they were soft and squished flat. Was not the sandwich we normally consider a special treat. It's not the same experience at all when the bread is soft. read more

I tried to order by phone, but was hung up on twice and by the third time the kid who answered didn't seem very knowledgeable about the menu. I ended up just ordering in person bc I was pulling up as I was ordering. It was 11:45 on a Wednesday and my sandwich took almost 30 minutes to make. Now after all of this I was just over this place UNTIL I tasted my sandwich. The bread is incredible. Produce was fresh. It was amazing!!!! And the potato salad was delicious. read more

I came into this place for the first time for lunch with a co-worker after work. She had highly recommended that we come here for lunch so that she can order a deli sandwich and I could order a cheeseburger that I was craving at the time. Total mom-and-pop shop feeling when I first walked in, a bonus for me. Staff was friendly and service was speedy, I was impressed with the overall experience. The way she would talk to customers was not ok! Then the girl making the sandwiches she had my order completely wrong, and my fries were cold! I've been eating delias since the 1960s. They were my go to grinder. I went today for a roast beef sandwich. WHEREs THE BEEF. 2 very thin slices of meat. Mostly just lettuce and bread for $10. Don't want to order extra meat or cheese. You shouldn't have to with a good sandwich. Going to jm is alot closer and just as good or better. read more

If I could give a zero I would. This place is terrible. I stopped by and ordered two ham grinders and paid $20. I knew the price was high but they had decent reviews so I wanted to try it. When I got home I was shocked! The grinders bread was stale and hard, the ham meat had one slice of what looked like cheap factory packaged meat and then little to no vegetables. I couldn't believe I just spend $20 on this garbage. I wanted to take it back but I didn't have time to go and demand a refund I had to go out and get something else to eat. Zero if i could. Manager is screwing around in back with a young guy. One girl working up front alone and slower than molasses and the manager has the nerve to walk by after 25 mins and ask her if she needed help. The young guy working there gave attitude when we asked why two people were served theirs before us. Not to mention that they didnt take the order right and missed a whole sandwich. Usually my favorite place to get a sandwich... As of lately, that's not the case, kids working in there barely know how to use a register and messed my order up for the 4th time now... pretty irritating getting charged for a bacon cheeseburger no tomatoe and coming home to a double burger with nothing but lettuce on it... how does that even happen? The time before this I ordered a chicken blt no tomatoes and I got a bacon and avacoda sandwich some how?! Came here twice: First time I ordered the D'blat: it's a bacon, lettuce and tomato sandwich. I could hardly taste the bacon, they inserted a whole head of shredded lettuce into my sandwich, I was eating a lettuce sangwich (sic). Second time I came here, I ordered the D'blat with double bacon (so this time I might taste the bacon) I took it to go, as I was on the road I unwrapped the sangwich (sic) and they didn't slice it all the way through, so the top slice was cut in half, but the bottom slice of bread was still whole so the sandwich fell apart on the paper. That's when I made the horrible discovery: They use the tiny, thin Hormel bacon that come in the plastic sheets and you usually find this type of bacon in microwave burgers. How do I know it's in a plastic sheet? as I was eating the individual pieces I could taste the burnt plastic, it was disgusting. They charged me 3.50 for double bacon and never gave it to me, the whole sandwich cost me $14.75, when I called back I spoke to Kimberly and told her this story, she apologized and said she could give me $14.75 credit, I didn't make a big deal about it, but now that I think about it, I'm going to initiate a chargeback, I'm not ever going back there. On a side note, I ordered a beef dip for someone else and when I had a chance to taste it, it was disgusting, they used processed cheese slices, not real cheese like mozzarella, provolone or cheddar. The meat was gross. One last thing to add: The bread was stale, however they store the bread it's not working, the bread is drying out and becoming stale. This is a simple note to the owners: Please use real bacon strips in your bacon, lettuce, tomato sandwich, don't just phone it in and pop a plastic sheet of super thin, tiny, Hormel bacon in the microwave as you're poisoning people with the BPA or estrogen mimicker from the cooked plastic. Maybe this place was good "once upon a time" but what I've experienced here tells me they should not be in business for much longer... read more
