This is a cheap version of Teppanyaki food. No performance from a chef, no flying food or onion volcano but it's the same food. A Sub par version. I had the steak combo with the onion soup. First of all the onion soup seems to be flavored with the French's fried onions, not real onion. It lacked real onion and more ingredients to make it worth while. The best thing about the steak plate was the..... veggies. I've been eating Asian white rice my entire life, and I was disappointed that the rice was undercooked. The steak was dry, cooked to a well done (over cooked in my opinion) and under seasoned. The sauce that came with it made little difference. The veggies however were delicious. Yes!!!! This is a a great addition to Upland!!!! Delicious food, friendly staff. This is a must try if you're looking to eat hibachi in a quick casual atmosphere. They offer a Great selection of food and also drinks! I tried the cajun chicken and shrimp, it was served with rice and a variety of vegetables, I was happy with my choice it had such a delicious flavor. First of all the food is decent but the customer service is lacking. The most maddening thing is that you wait so very long for your food. I can't emphasize this enough! This place has way to many DoorDash orders and they can't keep up with customer orders that would like to dine in. Tonight arrived and placed order at 6:58 pm to dine in waited till 7:35 pm to get food only to be told at that point there was no "dine in" even though the restaurant closes at 8:00 pm got told we needed to take food to go. So my dining experience got ruined because of their poor time management. Bunch of youngsters working behind the counter wanting to clean up and close early, ugh (7:51 pm to be exact). Again the restaurant closes at 8, Houston we have a problem. Won't be back, very unprofessional and always a let down at this restaurant. It's really sad cause food is good but the wait is horrendous for your food and pretty dirty inside, kinda glad I didn't eat inside the restaurant! read more

This place is delicious. It's like Wabi Sabi or Benihana's to go. The food is always consistent and the woman that is ALWAYS there is very polite. I've been there 3/4 separate times and we are always satisfied. Loco Moco and Hibachi steak and shrimp are out go to's. read more

I didn't take any pics, but we really enjoyed dinner here. A little pricy, but not too stiff. The name doesn't quite describe the place. It's basically Japanese Tepan, but cooked in the back. It's really well cooked, the shrimp was great, the steak lean and tender, and the chicken tender. It was just a tad under seasoned, but with just a dab of soy sauce, it was super tasty. It's all served in "to go" styrofoam boxes, even if you're dining in, but that makes for easy leftover take aways. The miso soup was really good. I recommend trying it out. read more

We love right down the street and heard good things about this place so we decided to give it a try. Literally what many of other reviews have said,the food was great. The portions were large and prices were fair. At any other restaurant for the same quality you would easily pay double what we paid. The meats were all cooked well, not overdone and the rice was cooked perfectly. Their house sauce is delicious to add to any entree. The onion soup reminded me of an elevated miso soup with deep, rich onion flavor. The slushies were refreshing and not too sweet which was a plus for us. The flavors they have are very exotic and interesting. I will definitely be trying some other flavors sometime soon. Needless to say we loved the food and experience. It may take a little longer than you would like but it's worth the wait. The owner is very friendly an do the staff as well. We shall be back in the hear future. Food was ok. Service was terrible. Thought our food was taking forever, but Male server with pony tail haircut has put our food to the side and let it sit there for 30 mins. Finally, we asked if our order was almost done, and he told us to wait a second without answering. We asked again and he handed us our food, which was ready the whole time. Happened to see this new spot when we went grocery shopping this morning. We are avid takeout eaters and so we immediately googled what they served and wanted to try it for dinner. Delicious food & friendly service this place will now be one our revolving spots for takeout! When we placed the order it took 15 mins and when we arrived for pickup we were in and out quick. This is my second time visiting D Grill Boy. As I entered the employee was up wishing me a nice welcome and offering me to see the menu. After seeing the menu, and looking at the TV menu, I chose my selections. My order consisted of garlic lamb with extra grilled veggies.. gotta watch those carbs. It was grilled very well and had a garlic infusion of flavor with zucchini, carrot, mushroom, peppers, and onions. The only recommendation I would say is to use a little less oil when cooking the veggies and it would be A+. Other than that, the food was great. It also came with a side green salad and it was crisp and delicious. My appetizer was takoyaki and it was quite yummy. It had chewy octopus in a baked battered ball shape, sauce and bonito flakes for an added smokey flavor. My drink was a matcha milk tea. It was cool and refreshing. Id say if you would like to try a quick and healthy place to eat, to try D Grill Boy. So far they have been delicious and good customer service. read more
