    Hamburger Steak with Eggs
    Jack M.

This was good diner food. I ordered the 8oz Hamburger Steak with eggs. This also came with white toast and shredded hash browns. The hamburger was cooked to my requested medium. Well executed. The meat was juicy and had enough fat to be tasty without it being too much. The beef was packed a bit more densely than I prefer. The white toast was soft and buttery. Very good. The hash browns had a nice crisp, were a very nice shredded consistency, and the pepper/onions added a nice addition to the flavor and mouthfeel. The eggs were cooked nicely, with proper seasoning levels and were fluffy and buttery. All around good service and food. Diners usually make me feel crammed and dissatisfied. This one is actually pretty good.

Great & friendly service! We were here on a Sunday morning with the family and had 10 in our party. They were able to seat us pretty quickly. My cinnamon French toast was very yummy!

    Cheers! #ReviewsByRL

Great old school train car style diner. Breakfast is a #yum and the prices are very reasonable. I had a two egg sandwich with ham and cheese, comes with hashbrowns. And they kept the coffee flowing! #ReviewsByRL

My companion also found his biscuits with sausage gravy incomparable and enjoyed it immensely. The service was very good-hearted but rather disorganized. Three examples: 1) When we entered, we were offered a table or a booth, chose a table, and immediately were very cheerfully and politely taken to a lovely booth. 2) After asking our server for a few minutes to study the menu, a different server came by to take our order, and shortly after that the original server also came back to take our order. 3) One of our meals was delivered promptly to our table but the other went to a different table first. In spite of all this, however, we were treated very well and felt that the staff sincerely wanted to do everything they could to make our meal pleasant, which it was (mishaps notwithstanding).

We definitely over-ordered but told plenty home for leftovers. For appetizers we ordered the pork belly bao buns and the Thai salad with shrimp. These are more entree size so be forewarned. The bao buns came in a taco server and had three buns filled with plenty of pork and a spicy aioli. The Thai salad came with 5 nicely charred shrimp and a Napa salad. This ate a little dry-I would have appreciated a bit more dressing- but I can see where more dressing might have made this a bit soggy. We would definitely order these again For entrees, we tried the burger and the chicken pot pie. The burger was a double patty with cheese, pickled onion, and a mayo based sauce on a sesame bun. I have to say I was happy to see that they opted out of the usual sad lettuce and anemic tomato that is typical of early spring. I think it was lacking some salt as it was missing something but overall was ok and served with crispy shoestring fries. The pot pie was topped with some puffed pastry and had a nice velvety sauce with hints of tarragon. Very nice. My dining partner finished my burger and took most of the pot pie and the side salad that came with it home. Even though my dining partner couldn't finish his regular entree, he wanted dessert. After looking at the choices the server suggested the seasonal dessert which was beignets with whipped cream, chocolate and strawberries. I was reticent but was happy with the choice because the chocolate dipping sauce (of which there was plenty ) was DELICIOUS! The beignets were fried puff pastry or croissant dough that one dipped in the warm chocolate fudge-y ganache and/or whipped cream. I ordered coffee which paired well with the dessert and it was delightfully fresh. Service was good, friendly and attentive. Decor is industrial farmhouse. Clientele consists of workers from the local courthouse up to about 6 pm when we saw families starting to file in. Nice place, good food, good value.

I informed the waitress beforehand that I wanted the pancakes well done and she sincerely acknowledged my request. However, the pancakes were partly raw. I told the waitress about it and I instead had something else. The manager knew about this and gave me reasons why this happened but I found them hard to believe. The manager's demeanor was not much help either-I get it. I'm sure many managers in most restaurants are under considerable stress -AS managers. Even so, making well done pancakes should be a no- brainer. I would not be surprised that many customers don't like Nudy's pancakes but eat them anyway or maybe not at all and don't bother complaining about it because it's not worth the trouble. Because of this, nothing changes for the better. Needless to say, the next time I go to Nudy's, I will not get any pancakes. Mind you, I've been to other restaurants and it's the same problem: they can't make good pancakes. It is as if it's asking too much of them and it probably is. THAT'S why I'll never eat them again. I'll stick to the other dishes they fare much better at. Despite all this, I still gave the waitress a good tip because none of this is her fault.

Do not park in the lot next to the building because it is for the US Postal Service and your vehicle will be towed. First, my girlfriend and I arrived to the restaurant. We requested a specific table, and the host was gracious enough to do so. We then waited 8 minutes before our table was even touched, and it was just our (server? No intro, nothing) ASKING us if we'd like water. We say yes, and then waited an additional 5 minutes just to receive water in PLASTIC cups. Again, this person never told us his name, and we weren't even sure if he was taking our order or not. He appeared to be about 18, and was most certainly high Then, we requested glasses, and since it had been 15+ minutes since we sat down, said we were ready to order when we got the glasses. The guy took our order. We both got cocktails, which also took about 10 minutes. Finally, our appetizer came. We weren't even halfway through before the entrees came, we probably had about 10 minutes to finish it. This all could have been negated if our order was taken correctly, and things could have been staggered correctly. The "two bite" check occurred within 30 seconds of our food being dropped, and by then I hadn't even touched my food. It was way too early and felt like he was just trying to get it out of the way. At that point both my girlfriend and I were just ready to eat and we said everything was fine. I had to ask the guy for a bag on the way out, rather than him giving me one after our food was put into 3 boxes. I want to be empathetic of whatever was going on at The Social that Sunday. Yet, if you are going to make your steak $42, the service needs to justify that price. I will not be going back to The Social, and encourage their management to speak to their server who flubbed the ENTIRETY of my experience there. Myself and my girlfriend both work in the service / restaurant industry, and we know what good service is. We also understand that there are bad days. This was just abysmal. 4/10.
