Stopped in with my daughter on a Friday and first time visit. Cute place and we sat out back on the patio which is nicely covered and has a koi pond. Excellent hostess and wait staff are very nice and friendly. She had the standard breakfast and I had the blueberry French toast. Scrambled eggs were excellent and creamy. As a 23 year old male I find a neutral approach when trying new restaurants. I'm greeted kindly, and treated well by the staff every time I sit to eat by myself. This place is truly a hidden gem and for many reasons, the quality/portion of the meal is perfect leaving me walking out without a stomach ache. The creativity behind the meals is truly a work of art and I can tell the creator cares about his/her work. Seems like they are farm to table, and if I can notice it- you will to. The price per person is more than generous, I'm a young college student who you can tell doesn't have a wallet to go out every week. However, I do end up here almost once a week. The owner of Roots took me by surprise by taking time out of his day to see me in person and thank me for loving his/her restaurant. I have never left a review in my life, and I know this was long. Roots cafe may be the best brunch spot in West Chester. The decor and ambiance is so cozy and rustic with all the wood furniture and all the decorations. The food is also top notch. today i had their country fried chicken and it was so good. the chicken was fried well and the sausage gravy is so flavorful and coats the chicken so well. The potatoes are also the best i've ever had being perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside, and with the just right amount of salt. The only downside was that biscuit was cold in the middle but still tasted very good with the gravy and chicken. My girlfriend got the french toast bites and it may be the best french toast i've ever had. Each bite was crispy and soft with the right amount of sweetness, reminding almost of a perfect cinnamon toast crunch. Our server was also amazing and came by often to check up on us. A yummy and casual place for brunch! Went here with a friend on a Tuesday morning and there was no wait. I loved the inside a lot, kind of reminded me of an old farm almost? Very clean and the lighting was warm on a rainy day. I think the upstairs has a place for local sales, I didn't go up there but I saw a sign for it. The pretzel croissants were SO delicious!! Never tried a dish like that and it was unique and yummy. Everything else was also tasty but nothing out of the ordinary. It lacked the iconic kombucha flavor. And back to the food, I could make something 10x better than this, and I'm not even a great chef. The service was fine, I guess. The front desk and my waitress were nice, but the 2 waitresses that brought out my food confused me with my cousin that sat next to me. This is normally an insignificant thing, but I've realized that primarily white places often don't pay attention to minorities and mix them up. My cousin is like 10 years younger than me... This never, ever happens to me in Philly or NYC, but it happens all the time in white spaces. And honestly I'm sick of it. The waitress mixed up my cousin and my food even after the waitress was talking about how much she loves the thing I ordered...
