I received an immediate canned response that clearly wasn't based on anything I wrote or the photo I submitted. It even included a note about ignoring outreach from other companies. The next message invited me to call Joshua Diaz-Blanks, so I did. My call went to voicemail, I left a message, and I never heard back despite calling during their posted business hours on Saturday. Before they closed on Saturday, I texted Joshua. His response was that his grandmother was in the hospital and might not make it. I was sympathetic, offered prayers, and told him we could reconnect Monday or later if he needed more time. Then nothing. No follow-up, no update, no communication at all. On Monday, I walked into Banner Carpets on Artesia instead and purchased what I needed. It was a small $1,300 job, but small jobs add up and reliable service matters. This was handled very poorly, Joshua. I truly hope your grandmother recovers, and if her time is up, I wish her peace. But using a family emergency to excuse basic lack of communication is not professionalism. At some point, adulting is tough, but following through on what you promise is part of running a business. I also had a kitchen remodel where the flooring people allowed water to seep in and the floor was damaged a year later (but it was too late by then and I could not get it replaced). I knew it was going to be a significant investment and I wanted to be especially cautious about how I was going to spend the money set aside for this project. I contacted a number of floor refinishers across LA County, but none had better reviews than Diaz Hardwood; the feedback about customer service was confirmed when I heard back from Alex. It took us a few tries to set up a time that worked well for both of us, but in the end, it was well worth the effort. Alex came out and looked at the floors and gave me a good estimate that included putting wood over the holes were I wanted to have existing (non-functioning) heating grates removed. Alex was very meticulous in his work - he covered up entry ways and closets with plastic to control the dust, and he contacted me every day with an update. When I returned to the house once the job was completed, I honestly could not believe that the floors were the ones that were there before I left...they looked AMAZING. Friends who have been over have asked if I got all new floors - they look THAT GOOD! Alex even gave me info on how to clean and maintain my floors so that I could maximize my investment!! Talk about customer service! In short, Alex is a master as his craft, a professional in his work, and he offers excellent customer service. I've already given his name and number to a few friends looking to have their floors refinished.
