This is one of my favorite pubs in the world. I really mean that unfortunately the only thing I really had is the chicken tenders, with the barbecue sauce, or either honey mustard. My wife had the French onion soup, which she said was cooked to perfection just the right amount of onions and cheese. They have a very extensive beer collection, and their pretzels are pretty good overall one of my favorite restaurants and I highly recommend it. read more

Came here for dinner. We were greeted with a friendly welcome and our server was awesome. The fish and chips were delicious. The fish was crispy and delicate. The chips (fries) were average. It needs some salt and pepper. The slaw was average. It also needs pepper and a little more flavor. Overall the place was good. I would go back. read more

My close friend lives in the building across from this pub so we stopped in for a weekday dinner. First of all, love me a restaurant w cozy Christmas decor, makes me feel warm and fuzzy inside. We had reservations made for 7pm and I dunno why I enjoy when a restaurant actually uses a "reserved" sign on the table for us lol makes me feel special. Our server was excellent, prompt, friendly, and helpful. We started w the cheese curds that might've been the best cheese curds I've ever had w some really yummy spicy ranch sauce. I also had the French onion soup, which was so good. Then I had the Reuben, which was massive and so tasty!! Even the fries were tasty. If I lived where my friend lives, so close to this pub, I'd def order from here allll the time. We had an excellent meal and I hope to dine in here again soon! Pops and I stopped in here late on a Thursday night and were impressed with the quality of both food and service. We weren't expecting much at this hour but were pleasantly surprised. One thing about me is I'm a sucker for a chicken sandwich! This one did not disappoint. Great flavors and extra saucy, seems to be the midwest way. Pops had the chicken cobb. he gives it a 7 out of 10. They really loaded that thing up with chicken, definitely got our moneys worth. Service really elevated this place from a 3 to a 4 though. our server was excellent, gave great recommendations for both food and drinks, and told us about lots of upcoming events in the area. Came here for a work holiday gathering last week. We were in the Library, which is a semi-private room. The ambiance was gorgeous; there were books all over the walls so it was a very 'library' feel. They even had a fireplace going! The one downside to that was that that it got very, very warm in the room. We did eventually ask them to turn off the fireplace, which they were happy to accommodate. Drinks were good; I started off with a glass of wine and then, once I saw the menu, decided to try a black widow (allagash white, magner's cider, and black currant). The flavor was good, though the black currant syrup was heavy and pretty sweet, could have done with a bit less of that. The food was also good. We had nachos, cheese curds, and chicken tenders as shared appetizers. All were good (the chicken tenders were HUGE!), the cheese curds were a bit softer than I normally like, but the flavor was good. I had the adult grilled cheese for dinner, which was good, but could have been cheesier. The vanilla ice cream I had for dessert was great-large helping, and it was the good, rich, vanilla bean flavor. Overall, it was a good experience, and I'd go back. read more

Came here with a bunch of guys from work. The ambiance in the library is amazing, I could sit there for hours and be very happy. Blimey, it's yet another Irish pub, kind of classy and expensive. D4 looks impressive. It's going for a somewhat classy bar type of atmosphere, along with basic pub drinks and food that's easy to make. Good bar seats and plenty of TVs to watch a game. The service is usually fast comparatively speaking. Came here with a few others for happy hour. It has the basic stuff of an Irish pub. The drinks are pretty expensive, just for the common stuff. It's about $12 at regular price. This includes Jameson and the most basic Irish whiskey. As for the food, it's again what you expect. They're pretty limited for vegetarians. All the others had things like burgers and fish tacos, while I had the Housemade Potato Chips. It's $6 for a handful. This comes with Cajun seasoning, giving it a bit of a kick. For some they'll love the atmosphere. It will be too loud and trendy for others. This is a matter of anyone's preference. read more

Great & relaxing spot for drinks! There's lots of space to sit either for dine in or the bar. The beer was fresh and satisfying. Stopped into D4 yesterday mid day with a few coworkers for a late lunch. The atmosphere is nice. Very well decorated and the staff was very attentive. There wasn't a lot of people at the restaurant but again it was a Tuesday at 2. We all ordered pretty delicious food! I ordered cheese curds for the table. They were fantastic, especially with the jalapeño sauce. We all ordered the most ordered menu items (except for a burger and a Rueben from what the waiter said). The fish and chips were okay. Malt vinegar and the tarter helped it! Gotta eat it super fast so it stays crunchy or the batter will get soft. The chopped salad was full of flavor and massive! The chicken fingers were a delight and came with multiple sauces. And the French onion was a huge hit! Overall I'd rate this a 4/5 only because they didn't have Guinness beer. My parents are frequent visitors of D4, but today was my first time getting to try it! The guy serving us was super nice and friendly. I got a cider, my sister had a white claw, and my parents had hot chocolate with rumchata which looked so good! We ended up get getting snacks to share here, we all shared burrata and the curry chips. I am a huge fan of curry and the chips were insanely good. So flavorful but not overly spicy. We came in here on a tip from our friends, but they forgot to tell us just how big the portions are could be the best value in the city for the amount of food you get very careful in ordering. I was hoping that this place would be as good as it sounded and looked but it turned out to be a little disappointing in the quality of food. The service was good and they were attentive but gave us such tiny cups for water that they couldn't refill mine fast enough after a long day of walking and touring the city. I ended up getting the nachos as my meal but the pico they had was so strong and they had it everywhere that I couldn't even finish my food. I love nachos and always think that it's a safe choice of food, but I was not happy with what I got and it's not hard to make nachos taste good. The fries were cold, so I requested a fresh order. The portion on the fries was good. But the truffle sauce was strange tasting & extremely sweet. Since the portions were so small, I ordered the bruschetta. No luck there either. It was saturated with just balsamic vinegar. When I go for happy hour, I expect small portions of great food. If I could transport to Chicago every day to eat here, I would! M friends and I came here on St. Patty's Day when we were on our spring break trip. We surprisingly got sat right away even though it was an Irish pub on the most Irish day of the year. The inside is very spacious and clean and honestly reminds me of a western bank feel on the inside. The service was amazing! Our waiter was so personable and prompt. He even took our picture for us when there was a huge rush! The food was to die for!! I had the chicken strips because I was sick and that was the only thing that sounded good at the time. But holy hell they were one of the best chicken strips I've ever had. I also got a side of mac n cheese which was also amazing. As for the drink, I got one of the specialty green drinks they had for St. Patrick's Day and it was very strong so you definitely get your bang for your buck. On a random walk, I did an early dinner with the family. My spouse ordered the grilled chicken sandwich. Our twins each had the kids' fish nuggets. I ordered the Reuben but sent it back All the food was good, except the Reuben. The bread was so soggy, never toasted, I could not pick it up to eat it. The staff, mostly polite. Was given a generous portion. The aiole sauce wasn't too spicy, but had a nice kick. Overall, everything tasted pretty good and was a good size portion. My waiter (Goran) was very attentive and kept checking in on me. The manager even came up to me a few times to check on me, to thank me for visiting them, and took away my dishes. Came in to try the holiday old fashioned and stayed to sample a few others! First was the holiday special, with old forester 100 proof, basil peppercorn syrup, grapefruit bitters, and garnished with cracked black pepper, grapefruit peel, & a fresh basil leaf. Absolutely delicious. We also tried the maple bacon old fashioned which has house infused bacon old forester & maple syrup, garnished with a slice of bacon. Bacon isn't my favorite but my partner loved it! Last one we tried was the matcha old fashioned, made with matcha syrup -- it was incredibly refreshing! Finally, we got a basket of shoestring fries just to have something to snack on. Our server, who was very professional, attentive but didn't hover, let us sample the sauces from a few other baskets so we had a great tasting of a ton of different flavors.
