Absolutely delicious. We also tried the maple bacon old fashioned which has house infused bacon old forester & maple syrup, garnished with a slice of bacon. Bacon isn't my favorite but my partner loved it! Last one we tried was the matcha old fashioned, made with matcha syrup -- it was incredibly refreshing! Finally, we got a basket of shoestring fries just to have something to snack on. Our server, who was very professional, attentive but didn't hover, let us sample the sauces from a few other baskets so we had a great tasting of a ton of different flavors. This is an upscale "pub" concept place near Navy Pier. Due to the more touristy location, prices are a bit higher than you might find elsewhere in the city. The food is quite good, though. Have been coming here for years and feel like it has gone down hill. I enjoyed the waiter but did not enjoy the unwelcoming host staff. Brought my girlfriend here to try for the first time and they sat us at quite probably the worst seat in the middle of the restaurant, when asked if we could move, I received a snobby comment and then got told they were reserved. After explaining that I found it hard to believe how the whole restaurant was reserved at 3:30 on a Tuesday afternoon, we were moved. Not a great experience. Yum! Best fish & chips I've had in Chicago - come for the food, stay for the incredible ambiance. Visited for a date night with my fiancée and we thoroughly enjoyed our dinner at D4. We got the best seats in the house by the fireplace and in the room with the giant bookshelves. The space is so inviting and cozy, we loved it! To drink, I ordered the Cucumber Fizz (non-alcoholic cocktail), and to eat I got the fish & chips while my fiancée got the poblano mac & cheese. For dessert, I had the bread pudding and she had the lava cake. Firstly, the portion sizes are perfect, and the desserts are meant to be shared lol - we felt a bit ambitious trying to finish one each! Everything was delicious - especially the fish and chips, truly amazing to me. I personally didn't love the coleslaw it came with, but the tartar sauce tasted really good. I also didn't love my mocktail - it was good, but it just kinda tasted like minty sparkling water with a cucumber slice so I'd probably opt for something else in the future. Obviously it wasn't a big enough deal to lower the rating. My fiancée said her food was very tasty too. All in all, the service was great, the food was great, and the ambiance was great!
