Da Kitchen is our favorite restaurant on Maui and a staple for visiting family. Small but mighty restaurant tucked in a strip mall. The beach decor is cute and appropro. Every employee we have encountered has been super friendly and attentive. The most delicious item on the menu is the deep fried spam musubi. The dipping sauce that comes with is mouthwatering. My favorite treat on Maui. Our other go to is the kalbi fried noodles. This dish is consistently perfect and filling. We also had a mixed plate. The fish was flaky and tender and very good. The teriyaki beef and chicken were tender and tasty. I adore the Mac salad here. The potato bits in it make it genuinely Hawaiian. On this particular visit, the chef sent out a dish he is experimenting with for us to sample. It was waigu beef and scallops. Both were delectable and if they are added to the menu, I'm getting a second job to fund my new obsession. I tell every one of my uber riders that this is the place to go for the best meal of their trip. read more

We ordered take out (1) mixed plate with katsu and pulled pork, (1) loco moco, and a spam musubi. The restaurant was small inside so it definitely fills up quickly. After placing our order we were told to wait outside and they will bring it out to us when ready. The plates were heavy! Definitely big portions. My husband enjoyed his combo katsu plate and had leftovers the next day. The loco moco was good but it had an insane amount of onions that over powered the dish and I couldn't get all of it off. We stopped by on a Saturday around 3 p.m. and ordered a bento plate to go. The space is small, with only about 4-5 tables, but there is also plenty of outdoor seating available while you wait. The food was incredibly flavorful and filling. I honestly wish I could have flown home with our leftovers! The portions were generous, and one bento plate was more than enough for two people to share. The bento plate includes teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, shrimp tempura(2), and spam musubi. It's easy to see why this place is so popular with both locals and tourists alike. I stopped by here 2 days ago with my father for lunch. He had mentioned wanting some traditional Hawaiian food, so I fired up Yelp and found Da Kitchen. We headed over to the strip mall with Longs Drugs and had to circle a couple of times before spotting it tucked away in the corner. Da Kitchen has both indoor and outdoor seating, with indoor seating for dine in and outdoor seating more geared toward takeout. Inside they have surfboards on one wall and a giant chalkboard menu on the other. For lunch on this day both my dad and I went with a mixed plate. I had thought about ordering the deep fried musubi as well, but it would have been a lot of food and I was already getting plenty. The menu described the mixed plate as teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken katsu, and breaded mahi. When it arrived, they were not kidding about the portion size. I started with the mahi since it was on top and really enjoyed it both plain and with the tartar sauce. The fish was hot and glistening and the breading was crispy with a nice flavor. Next I tried the teriyaki beef. The flavor was decent but I found it to be a bit dry. Somewhere along the way I also finished all of the mac salad, which had potato in it and a good overall flavor. After that I moved on to the chicken katsu, which was thin and crispy on the outside. The katsu sauce paired nicely with it. I did not finish everything and ended up saving the katsu, chicken teriyaki, and rice for later. The chicken teriyaki reheated well and broke apart easily with a nice sweet flavor, although the skin did get a bit rubbery which I will chalk up to it sitting in the fridge. The bottom line for me is that I would head back here again in the future. My dad said the mahi was his favorite fish he had on Maui, and I was impressed by the portion sizes. I would still like to go back and try that deep fried musubi. read more

This was our first stop after arriving at the airport and claiming our rental car (8/26/25). No frills. There's available indoor & outdoor seating, as well as, takeout service. Welcoming staff that kindly answers questions and provides recommendations. Food ordered was tasty and very generous after an early AM six hour flight. We were really excited about this place, but unfortunately it's way over-hyped. The loco moco was severely under-seasoned and while the garlic noodles were good, it didn't warrant a $31.50 price tag. I agree with the other yelper that this was a disappointing experience, and based on the reviews, we thought it would be a memorable meal. We waited 40 minutes on a Saturday afternoon at 1PM but when we checked around the 25 min mark, there were 2 open tables. Thankfully after we ordered, the food came out very quickly. The ambiance is casual and food is served in to-go containers even for dine-in. The table was not super clean and I had to clean some food crumbs myself when I sat down. We paid $71 for 2 entrees and a fountain soda... overall don't recommend. The price does not justify the value of the food. read more

This place is easy to find very close to Longs drugs with lots of parking close by. They have a few outside and inside tables. I don't recommend this place unless you're really hungry and don't have the energy to go anywhere else. There was a long line but no guidance on the take out order line vs the dine in line. after eating multiple loco mocos on maui, my family and i concluded this was the best tasting one. the beef was actually seasoned and flavorful on its own. the sauce had a deeper flavor that just a simple gravy. the mac salad was also great which is a must. i'm glad i tried lau lau for the first time which i was always curious about but now i know i won't get it again because it's not a flavor that i prefer. the flavor is more subtle and bland and tastes very similar to a chinese zhong which is rice and pork wrapped in banana leaves and boiled. read more

Da Kitchen is hands down my favorite food on this island and on this planet. I mean every single bite is the best thing that I've ever tasted. First place on the menu goes to the Kalua pork. Talk about flavor town. Hot or cold this pork is insane. Mix it with some rice and musubi sauce- game over. The teriyaki beef is a close second, great sweet teriyaki flavor. My partner loves the chicken katsu and isn't a huge pork person but agrees da pork is da best. The restaurant was a little tricky to find at first because there's not a large sign, but it's in a shopping center tucked in the corner. Cute little store with an outdoor area. People eat in for sure but we always opted to do carryout. The service is great and the workers are so kind and helpful. I usually don't eat twice at a place on vacation but I break that rule for this fine dining. I wish I could include pictures but unfortunately the camera doesn't eat first with this place. It was a MUST grab authentic spam musubi and this place was the top selection in research on the island, and they didn't disappoint! I never had fried musubi before and it has forever changed my life and it's all I crave now! By far my favorite spot for a mixed plate on the island! The portion sizes are huge and everything is phenomenal. Typically, I've only seen 3 items included in a mixed plate but here, you get 4 items (teriyaki chicken, teriyaki beef, chicken katsu and breaded mahi. When I opened up my to-go box, I was shocked to see how much fit into the container. The fish was crispy and the teriyaki was delicious. Everything on the menu sounds/looks terrific. We were there 7/31/26. Ordered take out. HOLY SMOKES... the poritons are huge! We ordere two plates and a side... thinking to share between three people. We barely dented the food. We ordered the Notorious BIG Moco, the Shoyu Ginger Opakapaka, side of chicken long rice.... and to wash it all down... a Ono ono shake. The staff was super nice and friendly. Took my order... told me... I can just sit outside and relax and they will bring the food out to me. It was a local ambiance. Uncles and freinds eating some local grindz together on one table... Family with their kids on another. Like I mentioned... the portion is huge! The Moco... literally filled the entire take out container.... all four sides and the lid had to push the food down.... then the Opakapaka... was so big... it was curled and sticking out of the container...
