One of the staple food trucks that sit on Wacker and perhaps one of the standout choices. There's usually a decent queue for the place but surprisingly doesn't take long for them to pump out piping hot fresh pizza. Chicago combo - The crust and base of the pizza is definitely the star of the show. It's got the right amount of crispy and chew with some nice hints of char. I did find the flavor combination of meats with chopped celery and carrots a bit jarring and would be interesting in trying another flavor next time. Score of 3.5/5 My friend had the pepperoni and found it to be normal and recommended the prosciutto that she had before. Would recommend to check out the place if you are in the area and perhaps try out the other pizza flavors. Da pizza dude may serve some tasty pizza, but sadly I wouldn't know since he failed to show up at a school fundraiser I had scheduled him for. I have been emailing back and forth with Francesco for the past 6 weeks where we had arranged he would attend an event for my kids school and donate 10% of the proceeds back to the school. It seemed like a win win for both Francesco and the school....and I was looking forward to trying his pizza that gets rave reviews. I confirmed several times and Francesco assured me he would be there and that we didn't need a contract since attendees would pay the truck directly for their food. I even spent time working with our village to make sure we had the proper permits for his truck the day of the event. On the day of the event he failed to show and I received no email, phone call, etc. And we didn't have anything besides snacks/desserts to serve for lunch since we were relying on Da Pizza Dude. Clearly our mistake. Perhaps the pizza may be worth trying if you happen to see the truck somewhere, but I definitely wouldn't recommend hiring for any sort of event. read more

There's a lot of hype about Da Pizza Dude and I was very excited to give it a shot finally - but a little disappointed overall. The pizza was good, but not hype worthy. I ordered the veggie which was supposed to be mushrooms and green peppers. Mine also had red and yellow peppers as well. It came in a big white cardboard box + 1 napkin. I asked if she could give me a side of giardiniera and she did so that was nice of them. There are two slices in 1 order. I had 1 slice for lunch and saved the other for dinner. I was at the Lincoln Park Zoo Food Truck Social last night and I have to say that this was my favorite truck. Okay, the crispy pastrami fries from the Fat Pickle Truck was fantastic, but I was blown away by the product Da Pizza Dude produced in a truck. I ordered the prosciutto pizza. The crust was perfectly done...crispy with air bubbles and light. Just like the pizza I love when in Italy. Plenty of prosciutto, arugula and parmesan were piled on top and the sauce was very tasty. At the end of the evening, I went back to inquire if they'd do a late night snack at my step-daughter's wedding in Naperville...and they would! The crust was nice, crispy on the bottom, and soft, and I like how the basil on the margherita pizza was cooked into the cheese. Sometimes I find when it's cooked on top it'll burn at the edges. Best pizza ever! The pies are made different than your typical circular pizza as they are intended to be sized for individual enjoyment rather than shared with large groups. But even still, they are plenty big and filling! They also have some awesome options and my favorite is the Pro which is Prosciutto + Arugula + Shaved Parmesan + Topped with EVOO... and it's amazing! I also love the meatball and the margarita pizzas! The pizzas are made fresh right on the truck and the owner is super nice and friendly. Worst experience. If I could give half of a star, I would...I was working, came out to the truck between my calls, I was super hungry because when you are vegan, options can be limited. I ordered my pizza, I was told told to come back in forty minutes and it would be ready. I came back at the right time, it still wasn't ready. I was told to come back in fifteen minutes, I came back at the right time, in between my calls, I might add--it still wasn't ready. So I stood there and waited, it became ready. Finally got my pizza, an HOUR LATER, not only was it the wrong order, it was charred. Then when I inquired about the menu offering one thing and having an entire different ingredient in its place, I was told the veggie pizza has come with mushrooms and spinach for three years. Well, how am I suppose to know that when this is my first experience with them and how much does it cost to change an ingredient on YOUR food truck? Excuses and lies. Frankie and Payton were very aloof when it came to certain customer types and didn't bother to rectify the situation in any way! They did not offer a coupon for another time, they only offered that they were out of dough. This place is by FAR the best pizza food truck around. The pizzas are perfectly portioned - not too much for one person, or you could split in half to share or save. The crust is delicious - chewy and crispy all at once. The toppings are great too - flavorful sauce, no skimping on cheese, and lots of variety. It's also run by the nicest people. The main guy (I think he's the owner, he's been there both times I've had it) is a young guy who works really hard to be friendly and make sure you're happy. Next time, I need to try the appetizers! there are very few places for good simple pizza in the loop. especially pizza for one. something just right for lunch or on the go. I didn't expect such a fresh tasting pizza from a truck. they didn't have a huge line and pizza took 4 minutes. the Margherita is something else!
