Heard about this place for a long time, finally get to try it tonight. They do not have a parking lot, finding street parking is not that easy. They do have some tables and chairs for you to enjoy your food. The service is good, pretty busy place for dinner, I guess it is popular for local people around this area. The portion of food is very generous. I ordered a regular for $13. I cannot finish half of my plate and I am a growth male. My wife noticed the portion is huge, she ordered a mini, and she cannot finish half of it too. My dinner included rice, salad and the main which is herb coconut chicken. 6 big pieces of chicken for $13 bucks! I do not think you can find this deal anywhere in Honolulu. The taste is not like out of the world but good enough for me. The seating area is spacious. I will come back to try other dish but my wife said not for her. I would recommend you to go check it out because of the great price and huge portion of food.

My co-worker introduced me to Da Spot a year ago and I was sold after the first time! I had seen them before, but I was skeptical to try any of their food. But omg, their food is delicious! I usually go between either the Chicken Parmesan or the Teri Chicken. The mini is a lot and will feed me at least 2 meals. The saffron rice is so yummy. The only downside is the parking. I sometimes get lucky parking on the street, but I did also park at Longs across the street a few times. Service is excellent and quick. They do have tables that you can sit at, but I've always done takeout.

Good size portions at a really good price! I got their chicken curry plate lunch, it was full of flavor and super satisfying. You definitely get your money's worth here. I like that they had a decent amount of salad with my lunch. Rice was cooked good. Service was quick and friendly. I like that they had tons of tables and seating (went around 1:30pm). Will be coming back again for sure!

Great place with amazing prices. They have a lot of tables inside, in a pretty large space away from the street. Sadly, at the time I stopped in, they weren't making sandwiches but only mains. I tried the lemon herb chicken and my husband the Moroccan chicken. Super tasty, plus tasty rice with sauce. The smoothies are also very unusual and tasty flavors, like Haupia and kiwi, or berry with grape juice. People were super nice.

Still good food after all these years. You can get lamb shank if you're lucky and they are serving it. It does cost more but totally worth it! Service is quick and they answer your questions. I love getting the baklava. Parking is difficult but there is a designated lot and street parking. Good place for food for a decent price!

Great spot with plenty of entrée combos to choose from, which made it easy to find something for everyone. The Thai Chicken was absolutely amazing--full of flavor, perfectly cooked, and just the right amount of heat. Nice portions, fast service, and good value. Definitely coming back to try more!

Absolute fav healthy/Mediterranean place!! Everything made, cause you eat with your eyes, just point and they'll serve you. So many great items to eat but I always enjoy the fish. Always, always the fish. They'll happily add the sauce drizzle of your rice too. Menu rotates but the food is always superb. Pics don't lie, the fresh brightness of the plates will assure that your meal is about to be fiiiiiine.

There's a variety of ice cream flavors ranging from ube to honeydew mochi and you can choose up to 3 flavors. You can also choose from peanut drizzle or Mac nut drizzle ($1 more). Once they scoop your ice cream, they have a little station where they scrape the peanut drizzle from a big block directly onto your ice cream. Fun to watch! I got the crepe and chose 2 ice cream flavors: blueberry cheesecake and chocolate. My mom got the cup with matcha ice cream. I really enjoyed the crepe! The peanut drizzle was nicely spread throughout the crepe and added a nice touch to the ice cream. The cup wasn't as good in my opinion though because the peanut drizzle was only sprinkled on top and not as generously spread. I would come again, but I would only recommend ordering the crepe option.

However, there are many alternative malasada purveyors throughout Honolulu, so I depended on local vloggers to find the best ones. This one popped up often on YouTube, and as luck would have it, we were dining at The Pig & The Lady on the next block. How calorifically convenient. We took the opportunity to stop by for a pre-dinner snack since they closed at 6PM. It's a cute shop with multiple sweets including quite a selection of housemade ice cream and delectable mouthfuls called Cake Bombs (Photo 10). We decided we would be good and ordered one unfilled Malasada each. Dusted with various sugar flavors, they were just $2.65 a piece. I went for the Coffee, while Jamie chose the daily special, Cinnamon (Photo 6). They were soft and tasty, quite comparable to Leonard's albeit a tad smaller. That wasn't necessarily a bad thing since we had dinner ahead of us. However, we let temptation get the best of us and shared a $5.50 slice of the Ube Haupia Mac Nut Bar, a yummy combination of sweet potato and ube topped with haupia (coconut milk pudding) on a macadamia nut crust (Photo 9). Truth be told, it stole the show from the malasadas. Standard generous portion for a bingsu location, notably generous for an Ala Moana location. The location itself was free of insects despite being on a ground floor location with sugary desserts everywhere. Meh: The $14 (including 15% tip) dessert tasted too light and ice-like and appeared more translucent (rather than opaque white) than expected, leading me to think the milk was watered down, which may be how the establishment can make up the cost for the portion size while maintaining a spot in Ala Moana, especially given milk prices in Hawai'i, even if you're buying from Costco or direct from farmers. Also, tables were not cleaned after each party departed; that transparent puddle on your table might not be condensation and may instead be drool drops from the toddler who sat there before you. Overall: Good (not outstanding) experience. Knocked off 2 stars for combination of suspected diluted milk + unclean tables.

Every morning, without fail, people gathered outside waiting patiently for pastries. No flashy signs. No gimmicks. Just quiet consistency. That alone intrigued me. By the second day, my mind was made up. I'm an early riser, so the plan was simple: go on my usual morning run and arrive before the rush. Japanese culture and craftsmanship have long fascinated me. Through close friends with family roots tracing back to Japan, I've developed a deep appreciation for the culture -- the discipline, the rituals, the precision, and the respect for process. There's a beauty in the intentional pace at which things are done. Nothing rushed. Nothing careless. This bakery embodied that philosophy perfectly. The space itself was small, modest, and aromatic. No overdesigned interiors. No influencer bait. Just the comforting smell of fresh bread and butter hanging in the air. Some bakeries hide behind elaborate architecture and presentation, but this place understood something more important: when the product is exceptional, the product becomes the attraction. The pastries ranged from playful and charming to elegant and refined. The Salt & Butter bread was an instant staple -- savory, warm, and impossibly light. The dough practically dissolved like air. Thankfully, nothing felt overly heavy, because I completely lost control of my ordering strategy. The Kobo Kuma -- a soft bear-shaped bun filled with homemade vanilla bean custard -- was perfection. Equal parts cute and comforting. The Cinnamon Roll was solid, but the Haupia pastry completely stole the show. For those unfamiliar, Haupia is a traditional Hawaiian coconut pudding found throughout Polynesia. The flavor here was subtle yet lingering, delicate without disappearing. The kind of flavor that quietly stays with you long after the last bite. Then came the Blueberry Danish -- beautiful, buttery, and perfectly sweet. I didn't even make it to the savory options this time, which honestly just gives me another reason to return. And I absolutely will -- whether back here in Hawaii or perhaps at one of their mainland locations in Los Angeles. Some places become popular because of hype. Others because of quality. This bakery earned its line.
