LovED this place. Da Spot has been one of my fav go to spots for a while not to mention the opportunity to support local businesses. Good food, good service, good prices, and good portions. I stopped in tonight to pickup my usual and $18 later was a little underwhelmed. I typically get the reg. Fish plate that comes with 2 pieces of fish, tonight it came with 1 piece of fish. I also opted to upgrade the salad unaware of the $5 charge. As some of the other recent reviews stated the hot food was warm at best and the salad may have been slightly warmer. Not the same quality or service and I didn't see any of the regular workers there tonight. I really hope they can get it turned around and maybe some training for the staff. read more

Laid back place with homestyle selections to please different palates: variety of proteins, vegetarian selections, Indian, Middle Eastern, Mediterranean, Italian, Asian, etc, plus smoothies and desserts. I saw them setting up for live entertainment, so I'm sure that would be cool too! They have parking down the street, but I usually try to grab a metered stall out front. Wow, passing by this place for a looong time now. Heck even my uncle lived down the street a few houses away literally and I never been here till now. So like other have said, parking is a little rough. It's either find street parking which is hard due to local residents behind or park across Longs fast kind. Food is cafeteria hot pan style. So pick your rice, today for instance was yellow saffron rice or brown rice. Entree had quite a bit, from coconut curry chicken, teri, Moroccan chicken, tomato basil chicken etc. I had the Mini saffron rice and Moroccan chicken. Let me tell you portions are LARGE! Mini is 2 scoops rice, small scoop entree and side salad of choice or premium add on from tofu salad etc. Rice was good not really stront typical barely hint saffron and just yellow. Moroccan chicken wasn't bad, like the little nuttiness hints and slivers of sliced almonds. Toss, spinach salad was refreshing as well. Now that I know this place does more Mediterranean style foods I'll come by again especially with those reasonable prices. read more

Da Spot is a perfect place to go to when you're looking for a tasty, affordable and healthy meal (or when you and your wife don't have energy to cook). Most importantly, the staff and owner are genuinely good people. One evening when we were dining in, we witnessed a person who may have been houseless (and also living with mental illness), steal some of the drinks from their open fridge. When notifying the owner he said that it was okay, and that he allowed this person to take what they needed often. My personal favorite is the lamb, saffron rice and chicken. My wife likes the coconut fish and Parmesan chicken... but there hasn't been a menu item we've tried here that we haven't enjoyed. When we're feeling really spicy we like to add a baklava for dessert. It's also very pet friendly and we bring our two large dogs to eat on the outside part of the restaurant. 10 out of 10 would recommend! read more

Fast, relatively healthy food! Tasty generous portions and flavors/ingredients. Great place to come after a good hike or activity. As for their food, many options from fish to chicken. For an added price, upgrade from a side salad to one of many other sides they have. I especially love their smoothie options. For $5 you get a large smoothie, customizable to your liking. Parking: street parking or one of the few spots that are in the designated parking lot (follow the parking signs) Only issue is that the floor was so sticky, my HIC sandal sole stuck flat onto the floor and detached my sandal thong. My go to when I'm looking for Ono grindz that are quick. I always get the vegetarian Thai curry with saffron rice and it never disappoints. If they have the mango salad dressing GET IT! I've been here before for smoothies and I really enjoy them but I only tried the food here recently. My favorite smoothies are their Strawberry Smoothie and Da Kine Smoothie. My friend kept raving about the food and he eats here often so I figured to give them a try. He told me exactly what to order and sent me a pic just in case lol. I came here for a late lunch and got my order to go since I had lots of packing to do when I got home. When I arrived, I wasn't initially helped. Maybe they thought someone helped me already? Not too sure but I waited awhile. When someone finally did help me, I ordered a Mini. Unfortunately they ran out of Saffron Rice. I came just to try it and they were out! My choices were between White or Brown. Luckily it took me awhile to choose because someone came out with a new batch of Saffron Rice right after I said "Brown!" What luck! Next, we moved to the entree. As instructed by my friend, I ordered the Coconut Lemon Herb Chicken. Lastly, I had the choice between Watermelon Salad or Toss Salad. I got the Toss Salad with their Papaya Salad Dressing. It was the exact order my friend recommended. The food was very flavorful and the chicken wasn't dry. It was a generous portion size and for only $6! They definitely priced the menu with students in mind. Good value so 3.5 stars. read more

I found this spot on accident, looking for Açaí bowls, but saw it had more and had to try. I was not disappointed at all. I ordered to go, and didn't make it out the parking lot with it. First, parking is a struggle. They have a sign that says free parking with the address number, but in one area, it's one way in and out. Though it's a 2-way street, cars are parked all along the side, it really feels like a one-way. I parked in the middle and prayed for no ticket. Your best bet is to park across the street in the Longs Pharmacy plaza and walk across. Açaí bowl was the best I've had on the island. It was okay, but felt a bit watered down and could have been topped with more fruits. However, the actual entree menu was amazing. It was fresh, from the smell to the taste. The salad was an automatic side, but it was $2.00 more to upgrade to any other side. They were jammin in there! Personally, it didn't bother me, but some of the music playing was uncensored and could have easily offended someone else. Other than that, I will return for the entree. read more

I used to live by here so went a couple of times. Sometimes the food here is a 4 and other times it's a 5. I love the coconut chicken and they really hook you up with the portions here. The only thing is that I'm not a huge fan of foods that are exposed like their food is because it makes them dry and you don't know what's getting in there. I do love their smoothie choices though. This used to be a small truck back in the day and it's surprising to see it a brick and mortar in the mall. Their smoothies are blended with only the best blenders in the world, Blendtec! So the moment I tasted the smooth texture I realized the familiarity and had to do a double take to realize that I was right. They do use Blendtec blenders! Da Spot is a great place to come for a healthy lunch, dinner, salad, or smoothie. The prices are shocking to me, how much food you are able to get for a great price. I assume this is the case because it is not too far from the university. However, with that being said, you can easily get a sandwich or plate lunch, and a smoothie for under $10. This is pretty unheard of in Hawaii. The food is also healthy, with several veggie and salad options available, something that is also harder to find when eating out in Hawaii. I have come back a few times, and have made it a regular spot that I check out. read more

It was my first time coming here. I've passed this place a lot and always wanted to stop and try it. I finally got to try it because bf suggested it! I will have to say that the hot food was really good! I got bf a plate with the vegetable curry with the yellow rice and tossed salad with the papaya dressing. I got the yellow rice with one of the chicken and quinoa salad. The quinoa salad was an additional charge but it was really good! I will definitely be getting that again! I also ordered the berry smoothie and the espresso smoothie as well. Lol initially I was getting the espresso one for myself and the berry for the bf but he liked the espresso one more! Let's get to the food! The saffron rice is to die for , especially since right when we got there the fresh hot batch just came out. The miso shoyu chicken was alright i didn't think it was anything special but that thai red chicken curry was so delicious paired with the rice. I like how they ask if you want sauce all over, like yesss sauce it up! The second plate we got was Saffron rice and Lemon pepper chicken/ Moroccan chicken. My other half said it was really good especially the moroccan chicken ( he ate it all before i could try any of it) lol. The salads are well prepared too, the veggies weren't soft and mushy but crunchy and crisp. don't you just hate when you get a soggy salad? bleckkk. My all time favorite though is their Mac nut pesto penne pasta . Must have! Overall service was great too, their super quick when taking orders you can feel a little rushed but i think it's just how they keep the flow going. My wife and I walked in last night, a Sunday about 730 pm, so was not expecting too much. We both ordered regular plates. My wife got the lemon coconut fish, and I got the Thai chicken curry...and 2 scoops rice with wonderful choices of salads...and great mango dressing as a choice..... We were amazed at how much food we got. We ate at a table out front and had a reallly delicious dinner. Been loving Mediterranean style food lately and this is one of my convenient go to places. I think it's pretty consistent with the one at Alamoana lanai food court. You can get the mini plate that is $6 and the portions are great! A mini plate looks like a regular at some other places! It comes with plain lettuce salad but you can upgrade the mini for $2 more to get your choice of one of their other side salads like pasta salad, fruit or potato salad, they have a variety of different ones daily. The regular plate I think is $10. I like the saffron rice and so far I've tried their tomato bitter chicken and the coconut lemon herb chicken entrees. Both were good but prefer the butter chicken. They also have many flavors of smoothies that start at $3! Tasty food and very reasonable prices. Right now they have open seating and takeout. Recommend! read more

I normally don't leave these types of reviews but felt it necessary since I was very uncomfortable. Whoever they hire to do their food deliveries (unless it was one of the workers?) was extremely unprofessional. A van pulled up and a man started pounding on the glass from inside the van staring at me. I felt very uncomfortable and threatened being that I happened to be alone and the only customer seated. Then, out of the van come 2 workers ( I was unaware this was a work van ) that let him out. He then proceeds to walk by me saying, "thanks for the help." I understand he was probably joking. Our wedding menu included lemon herb coconut chicken, lemongrass beef, tomato garlic red snapper, grilled rosemary herb vegetables, and half-half of jasmine rice and saffron rice. The food was such a hit among our local and visiting family and friends attending our wedding. Just as good is the reasonable pricing for catering! For anyone who cares, Da Spot also promotes sustainability through using only paper utensils and plates. Besides our wedding, I've eaten here on two other occasions. All the entrees and salads tasted delicious. I have yet to try their smoothies, but I'd love to! It's great to know Da Spot is also located inside the Lanai food court at Ala Moana Center, though I've never compared the two. My ordered the coconut lemon herb chicken with green salad and Saffron rice. We also ordered a large drink and some kind of pie all for $22. The food was dirt cheap and pretty delicious. The pie was very sweet. The staff here are all friendly and helpful. There are a lot of tables and chairs to eat at. Although the parking was pretty horrible. They have a parking area on the side of the building, but it wasn't easy to find. I actually ended up parking off on the sidewalk at the corner for another establishment lol. read more

He was extremely friendly, was exceptional with fulfilling my order and when I had a question about one of the sides, he knew the ingredients, how it was made and even gave me info on one of his favorites as well.
