    Egg dosa

I ordered egg dosa, chai, and some somasas. Trying the egg dosa first time usually order plain dosa. This was really good. Chef makes sure my order is nice and hot when I pick it up. Thank you

Updated review: This place stinks now. Went there today and very dissatisfied. Smell was unbearable. They really need professional cleaning in their restaurant. Food quality is deteriorating too. Might not return soon here. --------- This place is definitely on my top list of frequently visited restaurant. If I have to suggest 3 things to anyone , then below is my list : 1- Mutton thali 2- Chicken thali 3- Chicken dum biryani Thali comes with so much stuffs that you definitely can't eat alone. Something or other will be left. Would suggest 2 people to share one thali. Most authentic biryani they have is chicken dum biryani. Other biryani options are just okay not so great

This place has good chicken tikka masala (pictured) & chicken curry. The naan was pretty good too. Their servings should be bigger but I loved this food.

Update 07-20-2020 Things are not normal now, it seems everything is moving backwards, gravity is pulling anything that is not nailed, screwed, or riveted down up into the sky. The POTUS is showing symptoms of untreated syphilis in public. He doesn't even remember who he ripped off ... never ordered any salad, & I don't drink Coke. Please don't attempt to reach me again. Dudeman got the wrong person, confused? Days like this I miss living in LA. Original 07-14-2020 The guy at the counter ripped me off here for a $8 tip charge that he added on after I signed on his machine. I'm in the process of disputing the charges with my credit card company. The total of my takeout was $48 plus change, after reviewing my statement from Discover, I found out he charged $56 and change. Considering this Indian has a hole in the wall with mediocre food at best, I'm wondering how this greedy thief still manages to stay in business.

I have to start off by saying I really really wanted to like this place a ton, but the food quality made it very hard for me to do so. So first things first, Daawat is a little hole in the wall type restaurant with a handful of tables. It is very quaint and seems to be family run for the most part. Overall, you do feel like you are getting some sort of authentic Indian food experience from this vibe alone. However, the food hit a low 2.5/5.0 for me. The service was excellent which is what makes me round this up to a 3.0/5.0. My family and I dropped by Daawat on a Friday around 1:00 pm. We put in our order quite quickly and the kitchen really pushed out the appetizers in a timely manner. We had the onion pakora and the chili paneer. Tastewise, both dishes were fine, nothing spectacular, nothing terrible. Be warned that the onion pakora portion is GIANT, definitely something to share! For our entrees we had the paneer butter masala, aloo palak, daal, and thayir sadam/curd rice. We also grabbed some garlic naan and plain naan. Frankly, the curries were all extremely heavy. I know, I know paneer butter masala screams fat and heaviness, but even so, it had an excess amount of oil. The aloo palak was also very oily and even the daal was somewhat overwhelming. I had heard that the naan at this place was great so I was super looking forward to it, but it was honestly a let down. The garlic naans had both been overdone to the point of being crispy and the plain naan had areas that were overdone as well. The greatness of naan to me is that soft, flaky texture and we really missed out on that during this meal. We all picked at the food because of how oily and heavy it was and ultimately had a bunch of leftovers that none of us really looked forward to eating. I want to give this place the benefit of the doubt and say that maybe this lack of quality was because of a busy lunch hour, but frankly I won't be dropping by this place any time soon.

Nice clean counter served Indian food. Delicious mango lassie and good tasty naan (bread). Liked it for some change and wasn't disappointed at all.

    Dining Room

Daawat is a small hole in the wall kind of casual Indian Restaurant. This is a no frills take out restaurant that also offers a small modest dining room for dining in. You order at the counter and all the food they serve will be in styrofoam ware. They serve Traditional North Moghali, South Hyderabadi and Indo-Chinese Style Foods. We started with the Cut Mirch. They were tasty garbanzo bean battered hot pepper fritters. They served them with cooling tamarind and cilantro mint dipping sauces. They are tasty but are not for the faint of heart as they are fiery hot and pack a lot of heat. We shared the House Specialty...The Chicken Dum Biryani and the Chicken Vindaloo. The Chicken Dum Biryani was extremely fragrant and very floral....it possibly contained rosewater. I enjoyed all the exotic flavors and found it to be the most refreshing Biryani I ever tasted....but I didn't enjoy the dark meat chicken in it because it was over cooked and very dry. I do warn you to be careful with this dish because it contained pieces of inedible cinnamon bark and whole cardamon pods. The Chicken Vindaloo contained MOIST Flavorful Fresh Chicken......This dish was tasty but lack heat of any sort. I don't know but believe they accidentally prepared Chicken Masala. Daawat Indian Cuisine offers different Indian Foods that you don't come across all the time. Portions are very large and Prices are Low. Some Hits and Some Misses warrants a three star rating

My personal favorites are the shrimp roast or chicken roast, Malabar porottas, Andhra Kara dosa, and chicken Manchurian. This tastes exactly like the food in India, but word of warning, their food is fairly spicy in the best way possible. The flavors are bold, rich, and incredibly fresh, and you can tell everything is made with care. It's rare to find a place that nails both South Indian dishes and Indo-Chinese flavors this well. Hands down my favorite Indian restaurant. The people working here are wonderful as well, always welcoming, kind, and happy to help with recommendations. We keep coming back because the food and service are consistently amazing.

Couple delivery drivers were in and out picking up orders throughout the night. Service was prompt with menus and water delivered right away. The menu looked appetizing with tons of South Indian appetizers and meals. Chicken curry dosa was a 10/10. Bit of kick to it but the sambar and chutney were tangy so perfect contrast! Egg Kothu Paratha was a 8/10. Still solid but something was missing in the taste. Might have been a bit soggy but overall still good. Only reason for the minus one star is I don't believe the restaurant had adequate Air Conditioning. They had multiple table fans across the restaurant. Just gave it an overall tacky feel. Figure out the AC situation y'all

Let's start with the Dum ka Chicken, tender, marinated perfectly, and cooked in that slow, layered style that captures the soul of Hyderabad. The spices are deep and rounded, not screaming for attention but slowly building warmth and flavor that lingers long after each bite. I've had it three times now, and every single time, consistent, comforting, and just insanely good. Then comes the Tandoori Chicken, slightly charred on the edges, juicy inside, with that smoky clay-oven flavor that makes you close your eyes and nod in approval like Mark Wiens after the first bite. You can taste the love and patience in the marinade. But the surprise of the night, the Malai Kebabs. Instead of the usual dry skewers, these arrived swimming in a luxurious, stew-like milk gravy, silky, aromatic, and so comforting it almost demanded to be eaten with a spoon. It's rich without being heavy, and pairs perfectly with their soft, paper-thin Rumali Roti, which folds like silk and soaks up every drop of flavor. This isn't just another Indian restaurant in Phoenix, this is Hyderabad on a plate. If you crave authenticity, depth, and that emotional "food-hug" moment, Feel in India delivers it, every single time. Would I come back? Already planning my next order.

We were seated and it actually took longer than I expected to get a drink order. No diet beverages due to a broken dispenser. I saw that they had a small Indian beer selection, so I ordered an Old Monk which was displayed at the bar and in the menu. "Sorry, we don't have a liquor license". OK. I'll have water which was on the table in covered carafes but was warm since any ice had long ago melted. They have a strange menu of Chinese and Indian food. Not a big selection of either, but it allowed me to select Indian and my wife to choose Chinese. I asked about the portion size of the Chicken 65 and was told it was a starter sized portion. My wife wanted Sweet and Sour but not chicken or shrimp, she wanted tofu. The kitchen agreed to make it but told us up front that they weren't sure how it would be (found that odd). We also ordered Lo Mein since we assumed the Chicken 65 would be smaller. With all these troubles, the food came and it was very good. The Chicken 65 was a very large starter. I thought it was very good with the exception of finding some cartilage chunks in the meat. The sweet-and-sour tofu was also very good. I am not sure why the kitchen did not have confidence in their abilities. Lo mein was just average. When it was time for the check, the waiter wanted to know if we wanted a box for the little bit of lo mein that was left and we said no so he inquired to whether or not we like the dish and offered to take it off the bill or make us something different. We told him that everything was fine. The food was fine and we were just ready to go. All in all, I don't think we would return here due to the lack of selection on the menu. It was kind of limited. The menu was also confusing since it didn't group things together very well.
