Was in town and my brother was craving sushi. We found this spot and it didn't disappoint. I'd like to consider myself a guy that eats sushi pretty regularly (several times a month). Never in my life did I ever think I'd find a sushi spot that rivals ones you can find in LA. The quality of the fish they serve here is quite literally flawless. And the premium selection that they have (chutoro, sea bream, halibut, amaebi, uni) is top notch. You can really tell that this restaurant caters to both the sushi connoisseur and to the casual sushi eater. Nothing here is pretentious, everything speaks for itself, especially the quality. What an absolute delight to find this place. When I return to the area, I know the exact spot I'm going to for dinner. Steve, John, Matt, you all were an absolute pleasure to meet. Definitely on the pricey side (lunch for two was ~$86 with tax and tip, not drinks), but the food was excellent -- so fresh and delicious-- and the service was too. I think that their rolls are pretty good but their halibut is not the freshest I have ever had. Last time I got the sashimi set and all the fish were fresh except shrimp. The shrimp tasted like soap for some reason It wasn't just me I had another person tried it and she said the same thing. I wouldn't recommend getting cooked shrimp here. I have been going to this sushi restaurant for the last ten years and it has never failed me. It is still the best sushi out of the hundreds of sushi places I have ever been to(sushi is my favorite food). Also the workers/cooks/waiters are amazing and always make our time there amazing. Also the owner steve has greeted us multiple times and is a very kind man. They have given us extra pieces for free or cut prices for how long we've been coming here. Solid sushi joint. Truthfully I find that Temecula doesn't have a lot to offer in terms of food. I acknowledge I probably haven't ventured out enough in the area but from what I've seen and experienced they've been just okay to meh. So you can imagine my surprise and shock to find a sushi restaurant that serves legitimate fish. I'm talking high quality and fresh fish. I loved that the chefs Steve, John and Matt all noticed that my fiancé, brother and I were all not around the area and noticed that we had some decent sushi eating experience. They were also pleasant to talk to. They do have rolls that usually cater to a lot of people but they have a specials menu that will really make your tongue happy, especially if you're more traditional in your nigiri sushi eating experience. Let's get a few things out of the way.... Service.... Was absolutely excellent. Server was very polite and friendly. Food came as fast as you'd want it to. Atmosphere.... We sat outdoors and it was nice and plenty of shade that it was very pleasant even for a 95 degree day. I didn't see the inside so I can't speak to that. Good.... This is only the second sushi restaurant we've gone to since moving here from LA. I know there are many people like us that just moved to Temecula from places line LA, the Bay Area, and other places that have a great food scene. Hopefully you've already come to realize that we have limited options here in Temecula. So with that said, for the area, this is definitely pretty good and a million times better than the other spot we tried that had good reviews. The salmon, yellowtail, escolar sashimi we ordered were fresh and serving size was great. I also thought everything was fairly priced. We also ordered a few rolls and that's probably where you'd see the difference in creativity and quality compared to LA and similar areas but it was still pretty decent. We will continue to explore and look for other sushi restaurants, but if we need a sure thing, we will definitely be back again. read more

Very unique sushi place that serves typical create your own bento boxes, and serves ramen. I am not too much of a fan of rolls when it comes to sushi but I do like to see the different types of sushi ideas restaurants come up with. At our family gathering we visited Rolling moon sushi and my brothers ordered some interesting rolls. Ceviche roll with had several types of fish mixed with cilantro, onion, and lime. This was very different and had a nice twist of asian-latin fusion. Another interesting item that was ordered was the Spicy tuna fries. This was a hodgepodge of french fries, cheese, spicy mayo, teriyaki sauce, and spicy tuna. Very interesting. I ordered the Paitan ramen which is a variation of tonkotsu ramen but less creamy. All items were tasty. I have to give it up to the chef of the night as she cooked all of the food, took the order, and served us our dinner.
