We were delighted to be met by a poster of Guy Fieri (a restaurant reviewer of Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives fame) and a welcome by a waitress leading us to a table next to an old timey cigarette machine. Like a flash, she was back presenting us with two cups of hot coffee. I loved hearing tunes from the 60s and being surrounded by momentos from that era. The menu included many delicious breakfast choices--I had read that the home fries with onions were sensational and that, with a veggie omelette and sour dough toast, suited me to a 't." The waitresses were on their toes, knew many of the customers by name, and made sure our coffee cups were always full. I first went to Daddypops in 1992. Through the years, I would have breakfast there; never lunch. The original owners sold the establishment a couple of years ago. I have been there a few times since the new ownership. One of the owners is omnipresent and always says hi. I enjoy the atmosphere. My daughter and I now have coffee mugs there. They house the mugs there, which is nice, so you can use them when you go back. On to the rest. The wait to get your food has been a good while. Today, our server was very nice and attentive, but the food took a while to come out. My daughter's food was less than tepid. We told our waitress, and she took it back to heat it up. The bacon was ordered crisp and came out crisp, but was almost cold. After being reheated, it was still cold. My daughter said that the bacon's taste was okay, but the texture was close to tree bark. We won't be back for a while. The servers are nice, but it takes too long for the food to come out. We might try lunch at some point. read more

Bring cash!! There is an ATM in the entry, in case you forget. This classic diner fills up on the weekend, we had to wait about 10-15 for a table for 4. There's a bartop as well as a bunch of tables. Once we were seated, we got cups of coffee right away and placed our orders. The service was friendly and prompt. This place is an incredible value. For less than $8, I got two massive flapjacks, two eggs, two slices of bacon and two sausages. I couldn't finish all of it but I gave it my best try! Bottom line: great greasy spoon diner. read more

Came here for breakfast one weekend morning with my date. I wanted to try this diner ever since my sister had mentioned she had gone with her bf and they really loved the food. Plus I saw the Yelp reviews that all said this place was the place to try. Ended up going in the afternoon and it wasn't too bad as far as crowds. There were a few tables open. It was a bit confusing as to whether you had to seat yourself or not, so me and my date just stood at the door looking goofy as hell- waiting for someone to acknowledge us. Once the waitress was free, she told us to sit down at the only open booth they had. Once seated, we had a chance to look over the menu and I decided on the french toast and ordered blueberries to go with them. I thought maybe the blueberries would be on top, but it came with a side of hot blueberries. My date ended up getting the eggs with scrapple, the scrapple was huge! and looked very tasty. Although the food was great and the service was friendly and service with a smile, I didn't like the fact that they didn't take debit/credit cards. It was a inconvenience for me, even though they had an ATM outside in the waiting area of the restaurant. This is an oldies but goodie! The burgers are fresh and home-fries just like making them at home. It's a small location but consistent with their food and prices are reasonable. This location was actually featured on Dinners, Drive-Ins & Dives, if you watch the food channel. My boyfriend has been trying to get me to come to the place for months, and I was not disappointed. DaddyPops's is the TINEST diner I've ever been in, with twenty booths squished into an old converted train car. What they lack in space they make up for in flavor and quirkiness. The chairs at the bar are an assortment of barber chairs and other cools sits, and the wall behind the counter is lined with different coffee mugs from regulars. We didn't wait too too long when we got there, but I can image the line could get out the door super quick (especially when old ladies like the ones we encountered while we were there who like to take up an entire 4 person table to themselves instead of sitting at the bar or waiting for a two top, like are you kidding me? How inconsiderate, but I digress) We got the "3 Flapjacks with two eggs and Scrapple" meal for, get this $8.25! Everything on the menu was scary cheap, so cheap that I honestly wondered about how good any of it was going to taste. The Pancakes tasted like they were made with the essence of fall (that good ole cinnamon) and were so fluffy they were basically pillows. Their homemade scrapple was great too. According to Triple D (with Guy Fieri) this joint goes through approximately 200 lbs of potatoes for their home fries and I can see why. I will never understand how a place of business can treat customers so badly. Husband and I rarely complain and are fairly easy to please, but this place has the worst customer service! After waiting in the doorway for about 10 minutes a couple walked in behind us and informed us that it is seat yourself. No sign that tells you this information. The server walked past us at least a dozen times ignoring us. A cook came from the back to clean a table. As he walked past us, I said excuse me sir twice to which he ignored me. So we seat ourselves in a booth. Then the ignoring us continued. Server never came over. Instead she went over to the couple that was behind us to get their order. We never even saw a menu. After 15 minutes of being ignored and getting eye rolls whenever the server looked our way, we left. As stated before, we are easy to please. Stars are for one of the waitresses/hostess we had was super nice and apologetic and the decor was cool. I hadn't been here in a long time and thought it would be a cool place to try again. Mistake. The place is small, we had to awkwardly stand in the door area until someone finally came from the back to greet us. Yes, it is small and service can only pump out so much food at once however you can at least touch your tables more. Coffee was gross, pancakes tasted stale, had to ask multiple times for cold crunchy toast. Walking in I saw the ATM and was worried they didn't take cards but was assured they did. Fast forward to check out and I get told there's a charge for every $10 they have to ring up and you can't even put tips on the card so I try the ATM and the buttons stick and it wasn't working properly so I got up charged on the bill despite being forced to pay with a card. My party of here stopped here for breakfast around 12:30 PM on Sunday. Unfortunately, we weren't the only people with this idea. When we arrived the small waiting area was filled with about 12 people waiting to be seated. Normally, I don't mind a wait but there was limited space inside and it was raining heavily outside. Luckily for us a couple of bar seats opened up after waiting about 15 minutes for a table. It's a very small diner that's been around since the 80's. There are several booths and seating at the front counter. There is no parking lot but there is street parking available which is free on weekends. The staff is friendly many of which have worked there for years. Food was served quickly and too my liking. I ordered a basic egg, home fries and bacon combo which was priced around $7.00. My bf ordered the banana walnut pancakes with eggs and sausage. The pancakes were loaded with freshly sliced bananas and walnuts and were my favorite part of the meal. I do recommend this place, however with the limited seating I would suggest coming early or on off peak times to avoid a wait. read more

Three of us visited for lunch when the diner was not busy. Universally, we decided this was a 2 star experience. Service was spotty: Our waitress disappeared halfway through out meal. Also, she asked whether I wanted a drink refill (yes, please) which never materialized. The food was atrocious. I ordered a turkey platter: The turkey itself and the gravy were pretty good, if small, but the bread they were served on tasted like it had either been cooked on a dirty griddle or in old cooking oil. It actually was featured on Diners, Drive In's, and Dives for their scrapple (which I have never had), but almost everything there is TV worthy! The decor is probably my favorite part of this place - it is so homey with vintage pieces around the restaurant and regular's mugs hung up on the wall. They are cash only and often have a wait. If mid-20th Century stainless steel railroad car diners are your thing, then Daddypops on York Road in Hatboro, PA, is a "must see" stop on your diner tour. It sits on the main street in town, all shiny and bright over all these years. The granite counter is split by the kitchen entrance, with a half dozen spinners on each side, and creatively anchored at each elbow by an old barber's chair. The outer wall is all booths and large windows. The joint oozes Americana charm. The menu consists of one sheet, with breakfast on one side, and lunch on the other. Best to plan early meals, as the hours are only from 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM. I sat at the far left counter where I could see the entire dining area. The two women working the floor were friendly, but respectful - no one called me, "Honey." They were efficient, and ever ready with a hot coffee pour. I sipped my java while awaiting the arrival of my french toast. The three bisected thick slices of brioche were served on an oval plate that barely contained its load. Side dish full of butter cups and Kraft syrup was close at hand for proper doctoring. I could see that the bread had bathed in the egg/vanilla mix long enough to soak through to the core. The surface was nicely caramelized with enough crispy edges to provide the texture I like. Allowing time for the butter to melt and run, and the syrup to absorb, I was quickly ready to dive in. It was very good. No dry spots. No eggy extrusions. No scorch marks. Nothing fancy at this traditional meal hall. Just perfectly finished egg toast fry that was a pleasure to consume. 1st timer and will definitely be back! Daddypops is TINY. I can't imagine what the wait gets like on the weekends. But for us, we came on a Tuesday morning and sat right away anywhere we wanted. Our waitress immediately greeted us and offered coffee and water. The menu is a front and back page offering breakfast on the front and lunch on the back. They had plenty of breakfast options, but I just went with a sausage omelet and home fries. It was fantastic! A fairly large portion and you can't beat the price! For two of us + OJ's our check was $23. My girlfriend ordered French toast and she loved hers as well! She ordered a side of blueberries too and they were awesome. This was my second visit to daddypops. I remember the stuffed French toast being to die for so my friend and I returned. Getting a seat here is madness. People are aggressive and inconsiderate. It's a battle. Once the battle is won, due to limited seating the staff seem to almost rush you so much so that your order can and will be heard incorrectly. After an hour of a fight for a table and finally sitting down to order we ended up ordering eggs and hash as well as what I came here to relive, the stuffed French toast. When everything finally came out I had overcooked eggs, burnt hash, and NO STUFFED French toast. just regular. When I sent my French toast back (i forced down that not ideal eggs and hash) I didn't order what returned was a distasteful, slopped together, sad excuse for a dish. So I've heard nothing but good things about Daddypops. Today was the day we ventured in. We left pleased but also somewhat disappointed. We got there around 9:30 and it was pretty quiet. We were first timers and didn't know you seat yourself, there weren't any signs stating this either. Second they are cash only, again I didn't see any signs posted for that either. Costs us a $1.75 for the atm. The food is priced very well, almost too cheap. I ordered the Daddypop duo which was French toast, 2 eggs, 2 sausage and 2 bacon. My wife ordered the daddypop special which was 2 eggs, home fries, toast, juice and coffee. The French toast was on point! Some of the best I've had. The eggs were eggs, it's hard to mess them up. The sausage was good and cooked well. The bacon on the other hand was paper thin and not crispy. The home fries were extremely undercooked and almost raw and the rye toast was toasted a bit too dark. The server said she would replace the toast but we told her not to worry about it. Even with all of the inconsistent food it was a nice experience. What was cooked well was good. The service was good and she was friendly. The diner is extremely old and cool it's like taking a step back in time. It's a very small place and parking could be an issue. We parked at a meter. I can't imagine what it looks like on a weekend. With a few tweaks this could be a great diner. It's 2018 please take cards. 3 stars read more

I honestly still have no clue what scrapple is but man is it delicious. The wait staff was super friendly and inviting. I went in around noon and it wasn't crowded at all. I got two eggs, the scrapple fried (soooo good and interesting), and well done home fries with onions. Excellent experience alll the way around. Now that I know Guy Ferrari has been here I'm going to watch the episode to get a better understanding of how that scrapple is so good. PS. They have an Emmy from a PBS show they host.
