I went to this place for the first time when the Cinco De Mayo event was going on ... OMG ITS THE BEST DESERT IVE EVER HADD! My favorite was definitely the Strawberry Danish! I grew up around Amish, I know good Danish when I have one. This was so fresh, soft, and full of flavor! I also bought a brownie- A bit dry, but I'm sure they are even better when they are fully open (They had a pop going on). Love this charity and what they do. I love their bread. Last week I read a Feast Magazine article about their new New York bagels. I'm a bagel lover. I went the following day and purchased 8. That evening my bagel loving friend and I sampled the merchandise. It was a no go for us. These are not New York bagels. The bagels didn't have blistered skin, they did need to be toasted, there was no chew, no tender inside, there was no savory topping, etc. Go here and buy their bread. They are always selling their fantastic goods after the weekend masses at my local parish. They are always fantastic! Sure to the shutdown they are unable to do that this time. We ordered 2 kinds of bagels, bread and the cinnamon rolls. I have always loved their cinnamon and still do! They are large in size and fantastic in flavor. Their mission is amazing and so is the handmade bread. They give talks at the parish and the school and have workers come in to share their experiences. It is amazing how a small business can have such an amazing impact on so many lives! Great mission provides great food!! read more

I was motivated to try Bridge Bread after reading about their new bakeshop in Feast magazine. Bridge Bread has a very cool mission, "to provide supportive employment to our bakers to enable them to get their lives back, and to engage the community in a dialogue about homelessness, poverty and how it can be alleviated by social enterprise," Walking into the small storefront we were immediately greeted by two helpful and kind individuals who were clearly excited about the good work they're doing. I told them that I had read the article in Feast and they seemed pleased to know that word was getting out. I ended up buying some cinnamon apple rolls, chocolate rolls, and brioche dinner rolls. Everything was super delicious and made without any "artificial anything." This bakeshop is a nice addition to Cherokee street and I will definitely be back. read more

From the reviews I had high expectations. I walk in and it's the silentest place in the world. You could hear a pen drop. It's like one of those shops you walk into in a ghost town. I didn't want to be a critic without trying the coffee or cinnamon roll. The coffee is served in a 6 ounce cup and the cinnamon roll is stiff hard. This was the worlds smallest cup of coffee for $1 served out of a Keurig machine. I think most of the baked goods were expired and should not have been sold. I went upstairs and there are no windows and left over trash and TV on the table. read more

Talk about ETHICAL and delicious eating?! It's a win-win-win all around. Thanks to Fred and team for hiring folks out of homelessness! My recommendation is to try an item or two each time you go. And leave some $ donation to help them out. I LOVE the classic cinnamon rolls, and the wheat sourdough for everyday morning toast, garlic bread, etc. We also love the Apple cinnamon rolls. Both locations, on Cherokee and the newer one on Main in St. Charles, are both awesome and staffed by passionate volunteers. Then, you will want to tell others, maybe see if your church or business can buy an order monthly or weekly. This is the most delicious way to do good in the world that I have found. Ok it's small with a heart. Great story behind the brand. I went into bakery to get some cinnamon rolls and holy cow are they heavenly! Do not pass up the cinnamon raisin or chocolate muffins... won't go wrong. I thought the prices were also very reasonable for size of muffins and giant sample sizes they passed out. I haven't tried everything yet, but the cranberry-orange cinnamon rolls are delightful. They have just the right amount of orange and cranberry, and they're not too sweet. They also have wonderful brownies...very chocolatey, but not too sweet. They remind me of the kind we use to have when I was a kid. Also, everything is made with fresh natural ingredients. Lastly, when you're supporting a charitable organization you want to know your money is actually going to the needy...Well 70-75% of the amount you pay goes to the bakers' wages and the rest pays for the ingredients. Volunteers work at the shops and donations pay the bills. So, when you buy Bridge Bread, it's a win-win for you and the community. The only loser is your waistline. read more

I really wanted to love them. Their story is awesome and the people are great. My hubby went early Saturday morning and brought home chocolate rolls and cranberry orange rolls and a loaf of brioche bread. The rolls felt hard like there were old. The bread was also hard. It seemed like everything was day old. I put the chocolate roll in the microwave for a few seconds and it was better. I feel really bad that we didn't love this place but things happen. read more

If you wonder how good can bread really be, it's absolutely the best bread you have ever tasted. All natural ingredients, tasty and fresh. From frozen, you put in the oven at 400 for 15 minutes and you have the crunchy on the outside, soft and fresh on inside, bread you have been looking for. Other treats available as well, such as cinnamon rolls, etc. Right at corner of Jefferson and Cherokee so about 10 mins from hwy 55 or Hwy 44. It's worth the trip!! read more
