What a treat! We came into Dad's Diner for the first time and we were greeted right away. One of the owners I do believe, shook our hands and asked our names. You seat yourself and look up at the chalkboard menu. There are a ton of selections and you can order breakfast and dinner all day. They serve Fidalgo Coffee here, which my husband said was an excellent cup! Their orange juice tastes fresh and not like from concentrate. We both ordered the hash, I ordered the pulled pork hash with avocado and my husband ordered the corned beef hash. We were graciously given a side of gravy as well. WOW. Get the gravy is all I can say. They make a lot of their foods in house, including their bacon and mayo. My hash was to DIE for. I have enough now for two left over meals. For about 14 bucks it was well worth the cost for the amount of food I got. Over all, we WILL be returning back here with friends and family. I can't wait to bring others here and also to experience the friendly atmosphere again. 10/10 would recommend. read more

We had to get out of town. We had to. So we went to Anacortes on a Sunday. The city was having their Arts Celebration. No matter we were hungry. We hadn't been to Anacortes before so, Yelp help us. And Yelp did, and it was great! Dads dinner at 11 am on a Sunday. We pulled ourselves to the bar and met the Dad and daughter running the bar for breakfast. Very pleasant people very friendly, but not intrusive. The menu you download and talk to the nice people. My girlfriend's order was easy (no judgment) while I am picky with lots of changes and substitution. No problem at dads Diner. It was a packed house but the food arrived quickly and was VERY yummy. While we waited we had a nice conversation about the Globes (there are a lot of em) The food the coffee is awesome. As the diner name imply quantity was great as well! read more

Staff was hopeless, food wasn't that great. Had to wait around 10 minutes for her to remember to take our order. I got Dad's plate, menu raves about home made bread, it was Dave's Killer wheat bread, scrambled eggs were barely done, & my potatoes were burnt, my oldest got the French toast & it was just toasted bread slices, my husband got Jalapeño Cheddar Corn Cake waffles with Bacon and Eggs & it was burnt as well. My youngest got a burger and my husband got a side of pork belly & those were the only good things from our order. I usually look for mom & pop kind of places for that home cook goodness. Dad's is a quaint spot in downtown Anacortes. The walls are lined with photos of people's dads and the staff is very friendly and warm. It maintains the historic feel of the area and has a great selection of breakfast and lunch items to choose from, all day. Everything is made from scratch in house so the food tastes very fresh and hearty. We got the brisket hash and the savory French toast with roast beef wrapped jalapeños and a side of extra crispy bacon. The main plates were delicious but the bacon tasted a little burnt - I'd recommend going with regular. They also do not have hard liquor, so if you're on the hunt for a Bloody Mary, it's not your place. The food, however, is worth the sobriety. read more

The three stars is because you have to use a scanner when you arrive to get seated. Then the full menu can only be seen by scanning and going to the website. I feel for people who are not cell phone savvy. The foos was really good the. Hubby ordered, Dad's Plate, it is the fried breakfast potatoes with two eggs of your choice, choice of bread or biscuit and meat. The meat is huge. Great option. I had Everything Avocado Toast Crispy fennel bacon, two poached eggs and fresh avocado resting on multi grain toast spread with lemon garlic aioli over. It was amazing. The biscuits are the best I've ever had. Brisket is to die for. The only negative is the lack of space. We were initially seated at the counter, and the bar stools were super uncomfortable and tipped forward. I felt like I was going to fall off. Luckily a table opened up for us. Drove up from Lynnwood to take a day trip around Whidbey Island and this was our first stop of the morning - to grab brunch. When we arrived, the place was packed and bustling. Most groups were 2-4 people, it would be hard to seat a larger group than that. The menu is in the middle of the diner and on the wall, so you have to walk in and decide what to get from there. (Personally I felt a little stressed standing in the diner trying to decide what to order, so I wish there were table menus or something. But others didn't seem to mind.) The food was great! The bacon was crispy, bread and eggs cooked to perfection. I loved the potato wedges that came with the sandwich - very crispy and flavorful. The buttermilk pancake was more like a crepe, and it was really good. Solid eats all around. I would love to come back and try other stuff on the menu. read more

Stopped in because we had an hour to kill before our ferry reservation on Friday... fabulous little brunch spot in downtown Anacortes. My wife got the biscuit sandwich... simple but perfectly balanced and delicious. I had the Jalapeño Pesto Smash Chicken Burger... a mouth full to order and just as much to eat. The burger patty was crisp and full of flavor, but the toppings really made it special. Why this hasn't been featured on DDD I have no idea (somebody call Guy Fieri)? The house made shoestring fries were as good as any house-made fresh fries I've ever gas. We split those and it made a great meal. Everything came out quick and we were in and out in 40 mins flay. OMG! This place is dope! The atmosphere is kitchy, fun and comfortable. We had the redneck Benedict, the delicata, and the pan crepe burrito and all were super scrumptious! The biscuits were soft, fluffy, and melt in your mouth deliciousness. The potatoes are fried to perfection- crunchy outside soft on the inside. The pan crepe is like nothing you have ever had - be prepared to have your mind blown! Don't get me started on the homemade raspberry jam - yum! Coffee is good too (always a pleasant surprise) but it's quickly forgotten once a plate arrives...everything is so flavorful and so delicious that you don't want to wash down the flavors! The food was good and there were some interesting menu items. For instance, chorizo hash, which was very good. The biscuits were very good, but they never brought any butter, minor oversight. Everyone else in our group of six enjoyed their meals. The only reason I'm only giving a 4 star rating is the dining accommodations. They crammed the six of us at a table that would tight for just four people, located in the hall to bathroom. Overall the place is not setup for larger groups (over four). In the future I will go back, but only as a couple, or four people max. read more
