Annoying AI overview may just be good for something after all.

Claro's Italian deli sandwiches are the real deal! Their authenticity may only be exceeded by their unique and distinctive names. I often wonder if Spicy Mike arm wrestled Angry Joe who would win? I'm pulling for Joe, but AI says Mike would take it. What do you guys think?

    New sandwich special

Sandwich Special Alert! For the first time EVER, Claro's is making a new sandwich and it's the most authentic NY Italian style sandwich I've had in OC. Piled high with a variety of meats, mozzarella, roasted red peppers and balsamic glaze on focaccia This sandwich absolute fire, could feed four people and is ONLY $20!!!!! Run, don't walk! Tell your friends! High five the employees making dreams come true!

I found Claro's under Reddit suggestions and so glad I did! For starters, immediately grab a ticket so that you can shop around the market while you wait for your turn to order a sandwich. I came prime lunch time on Saturday and waited about 40 minutes. So be prepared that this isn't the quickest trip. The staff and customers were all friendly! The staff was handing out samples while we all waited which was nice to try new things! I ordered the Angry Joe which was a spicy sandwich. I thought this was super good mix! I also tried the spicy pasta salad which had so much flavor. The pricing of goods around the market were very reasonable, in fact a little cheaper than what I've seen at some other stores. I can't wait to come back and try more things in the deli!

    Panettone heaven!!

I go to Claro to pretend I'm living in Italy and to get everything and anything I need and don't really need just because they look and sound so Italian. Anyway, if you like Panettone, Claro has a gazillion kinds/brands of Panettones you can choose from. Ranges from cheap to super expensive, already in gift box kind of bread. I got a few expensive ones and boy, they are so delicious! The market offers a wide variety of spices and ingredients, fresh/frozen for you to make anything you want. I also got a frozen serving of lasagna and it was amazing baking at home. The desserts are so good here and this is where I would buy Christmas cookie trays, they range from small to large, and would bring to the office and pretend I hand-baked them lol! Lots of wines, deli, sandwiches, ice cream, and tiramisu from small trays to big catering trays. This to me is a larger size of Cortina's in Anaheim.

The sandwiches from Claro's Italian Markets deli section have been a long-time favorite of mine. They always deliver when it comes to a sandwich packed with cold deli meats and all the fix-ins. My go-tos are the Angry Joe and Spicy Mike, mostly because I like everything spicy. Neither of them are actually spicy to me, but I still enjoy getting them. I usually heat the sandwiches in a toaster oven so they get nice and crispy on the outside, although they taste great as is. I also love picking up pizza ingredients here since everything is made in house, and they have everything you need to make the best pizza at home. If you're struggling to find a specific Italian ingredient, definitely check this place out as they import a lot of stuff directly from Italy. Parking is limited, but people come and go quickly, so it's never been a real issue for me.

Claro's is basically the Italian deli equivalent of finding "The One"...especially when it comes to their Italian sausage. It's so good, spicy, mild or hot, you'll want to introduce it to your pasta, meet the parents, and start planning a future together. The service? Usually solid, like that dependable partner who shows up on time and remembers your coffee order. And I appreciate the sign by the classic red Take‑A‑Number machine reminding customers to ask for fresh gloves. It's the deli version of saying, "Hey, let's keep things clean and respectful before we take this relationship to the next level." If you're also the type who prefers your server to change gloves after touching everything from the label maker to the counter, basically the food‑service version of good dating hygiene, then hit LIKE or LOVE button below so we can keep everyone healthy and happy.

3 delicious cookies at $9.51 each?
    Yau-Ru C.

Not sure if I got ripped off. Been coming to buy cookies before and am shocked at how expensive my order today was. I got 2 white chocolate Mac nut cookies, 1 peanut butter, 2 chocolate sandwich cookie, 2 raspberry sandwich cookie, and 1 holiday sprinkle. Almost $29 for cookies?! When I got home and looked at the receipt, I see that I was charged for 3 cookies at $9.51 each. Typically they would weigh my bag of cookies and then charge me, not by quantity. I am still shocked. Is cookie inflation this bad or did I get ripped off??

I'd heard so much about this place from family but hadn't gone myself until right before Christmas 2 years ago. It was so busy, and rightfully so! The vibes in here are immaculate. It feels like you're in a small market somewhere randomly in Italy. Great vibes, great service ( they do their best to move things along despite the crowd, but you can always browse the store while waiting). Strangers were striking up conversation with each other and the deli salads smelled so delicious. This place is great for lunch, snacks, and any ingredients you might need for delicious Italian food prep. I'm here all the time when I'm nearby. Hands down one of my favorite stops to bring a friend or pop by on my own.

Literally the best local spot for a quick lunch and snacks!! They have a huge variety of Italian pastries and hot foods as well as a sandwich station. There's always some hidden gems in their market but my favorite is of course the desserts, which they sell by the pound. They also let you try before you buy if you are unsure! I also love how they have prepackaged items to take home to heat/bake and enjoy later. Parking lot is big and the staff move quickly and are so nice all the time.

All pepproncinis. No pickles. Didn't follow order for the third time in a row.

Happy to be the 1,000th review. I'm so irritated. Don't expect them to pay attention to any custom sandwich order. Especially when it takes them 20 minutes to make one order. This is now the THIRD time they have messed up a custom order, clearly from rushing when reading. It's been the same thing every time. NO pepproncinis, extra pickles. And now all 3 times it's ended up no pickles and only pepproncinis. Clearly they don't take the time to read. Gave them the benefit of the doubt twice but now no more. Another sandwich I wasted time and money on. Will be taking our money elsewhere now. It's unfortunate cause they could have delicious food if they could read.

Ask the Community - Claro's Italian Markets

    Is there lady fingers available?

    Yes! Perfect for tiramisu :)

Do you have cherry peppers stuffed with prosciutto and cheese?

Pepper poppers! There are four different kinds and we carry them at all stores in the deli department. :)

    Do you sell cappalletti?

We do not carry liquor (only wine and beer). I have heard tortellini referred to as cappalletti because it looks like a little hat. We carry that product in our freezer in both a meat and cheese version.…

    Do you have chicken cutlets?

Typically, we don't, but we do sell chicken parmigiano for catering. Occasionally. we do sell extra breaded chicken cutlets (already fried) when available. Check with the store manager at your favorite location.

Are the canollis made fresh daily?

We make make a few fresh cannoli each day and we also prepare them as you wait.

    Do guys make lampredotto?

Sorry, but we do not make this product. We don't ordinarily carry tripe, but we can order some for you!

Are the Pastries and cookies baked and made fresh at the market?

Every location bakes their our sfogliatelle (they are freshly frozen from a bakery back east, and if you like you can buy them that way and bake them at home!) and we freshly fill the cannoli each day. We bake our cookies (including pizzelles) at…

Do you sell ground Italian sausage without sugar or corn syrup? Thank you!

There is no sugar or corn syrup in our sausage, no fillers or additives either. You can just remove the casings to use it as a ground sausage. If you need 30lbs or more, just order bulk sausage from the store in advance and we can send it out…

Do they sell freshly made pasta?

Sadly we do not carry fresh pasta. We do offer dozens of cuts of imported pasta imported from Italy! Right now you can get one FREE when you purchase a quart of our fresh meat or marinara sauce. Hope to serve you soon!

    Do they sell Pannetonne bread?

    Yes

Just got some stuffed shells from Clark's but there's no heating instructions. What temperature and how long do I heat this up for?

About 45 minutes at 350 degrees. Cover with foil and make sure that the sauce is nice and bubbly. Enjoy!

    Do they sell guanciale here?

    Yes

Do they make Italian Rum Cake?

    Yes!

Do you allow people to order the deli meats by the pound if we're making an antipasto at home?

    Yes

Is there a long wait to get inside or can you just go right in?

We were able to walk straight inside. Make sure to pick a number from the deli counter so they could call you up when it's your turn to order. Until then, enjoy browsing the store!

Oh my goodness! It is Wednesday and Claro's is closed - I see there are no instructions on their frozen stuffed shells tray I purchased yesterday. I am assuming 375 degrees but guessing 45 min? Any thoughts on this?

    Sounds safe

Are they following social distancing protocols? Are they allowing people inside the store?

Yes social distancing, and yes they have in-store shopping. Also have take out and door dash

Do they sell fresh italian frying peppers at this market? I don't know where to find these though I like to use them regularly in cooking.

I don't remember seeing them. Sorry.

Does anyone happen to know the heating instructions for their frozen chicken parm tray? We love the lasagna, but don't wanna mess up this tasty looking chick parm on the first go round... Thanks…

To avoid making it too dry, it is best to defrost in the icebox overnight. Once defrosted, remove any plastic covering and cover with foil. Heat in a 350 degree oven until hot through, 160 degrees. 😊

I bought a mini frozen lasagna from here but there was no heating instructions. This place produces quality food and I don't want to mess it up. Anyone know the instructions?

I think you would be safe to heat at 375 degrees for 40-50 min in oven; cover the top of lasagna with some foil:) Enjoy!!

When we went to customer service, we were informed that the store was actually still open until 10:00 PM. What made the situation even more upsetting was that after refusing to serve us, the cashier immediately rang up the customer behind us. If the store was truly closed, why were other customers still being checked out? The entire interaction felt targeted, disrespectful, and humiliating. While I cannot know the cashier's intentions, being denied service while another customer was served moments later left my friends and me feeling singled out and unwelcome. Rather than argue, I left all of my items behind and walked out. I have shopped at 99 Ranch for years and never expected to experience something like this. I hope management reviews the surveillance footage and register activity from Register 14 around 9:00 PM on June 6, 2026, and addresses why customers were falsely told the store was closed while others continued to receive service. The grocery is good for what to expect for any Asian market but the main attraction is the food court. It may not seem like much but all of them are really good and would fill up your hunger instantly. My favorites from the top of my head are the Katsu Don if I remember correctly and the Udon section where you pick your tempura (don't know the exact name). Overall good place to eat lunch or even dinner. Another problem would be finding a seat since there's hardly any tables and your plate is pretty big and bowls are heavy so you have to be somewhat quick to find a seat. The ambiance is fine but that's kind of to be expect in any supermarket, which is usually crowds talking and all. I really don't have much to say. Ever since this place closed down the anime shop, the DVD store, and bookstore, this place pretty much lost what made Mitsuwa special and worth visiting. Especially for someone who's into both anime and tokusatsu like Super Sentai (Japanese Power Rangers). Those places are what got me my first Gundam model kit (Freedom Gundam from Gundam Seed) and my go to place for Japanese DVDs as mentioned (Gokaiger, Kyoryuger, and Nanoha). I understand why they close down these stores, especially with streaming services and online shopping are a thing, even though I don't fully agree as they are customers like me that would prefer in-store physical copies. That is why I deduct one star. These are replaces with a gachapon store, a Matcha store, a Boba store I believe and Daiso. The matcha and boba place (forgot the names sorry) are surprisingly good. I really like the matcha ice cream in a bowl and I believe the Doncha. The gachapon I cannot say as I never spend money there and I'm not into these gacha machines and I rarely buy anything in Daiso as its just your typical convenience store that sells some Japanese stuff so I won't say much. In conclusion, it's a very nice spot to eat Japanese meals and especially something to fill you up for the day while also shopping to buy Japanese food to cook at home. Just be aware this is pretty pricey, especially the Royce matcha chocolates and the food court.
