I've taken clothing to Dad's Shop before and the experience was okay at best. I found the owner to be inappropriate (talking about politics or random stream-of-consciousness-thoughts he felt compelled to say aloud) and rude. On one visit he tried to dissuade me from repairing a shirt, telling me I could just go to a thrift store and buy another one for 2 dollars. I've let it slide, but no longer. I attempted to drop off a jacket for a zipper repair recently. When I discovered the front door was locked, I was reminded off their ridiculous call-for-appointment policy which is posted on the store front. Since I was already there, I called to request a quick drop-off. I was told I cannot enter because I don't have an appointment. I explained I'm out front and I'm only there to drop off a jacket. She refused to let me in, and told me how it's no different than a doctor's office. "You wouldn't just walk into a doctor's office without an appointment," she said. Despite the many ways in which that is a poor analogy, I politely asked again if I could please just drop off the jacket, since I'd already driven down there. Then the owner abruptly took the phone from her. He reminded me they are "appointment only and not open to the general public" because they have experienced too many incidents. I asked what type of incidents. He cited people bringing in soiled clothing. What? This is the reason for this policy? At this point he said "I don't want you as a customer," then hung up on me. I stood there, momentarily stunned that this had just occurred, then left. I live in the area and have, prior to this visit, talked to others who shared the same sentiment of the owners being odd and rude. But now this- being told I am not wanted as a customer and being hung up on- is next level. read more

Ordered a pair of jeans online and they were missing the zipper stop. Couldn't return them because they were on sale so I started calling around to different tailors for quotes. Was told it would be $10 here and he normally only takes appointments, but was waiting on another customer so I was able to stop in right away. He fixed the zipper in about 10 minutes while I waited and voila! Good as new! Pay cash if you can, but he does take card too. It's a cute little place and you can tell he has lots of experience. read more

I'm short, and all my clothes need alterations. Kevin, the proprietor of Dad's, is a tailor not a sewing machine operator. He shortened several pairs of my jeans. They were tailored in a couple of days and the hem was perfect, sewn as if they were purchased in my exact size and inseam. Prices were fair considering the quality of the work. read more

AVOID AVOID AVOID ESPECIALLY FOR UNIFORMS! I called to make an appointment knowing that the owner requires by appointment only. I called and left a voicemail explaining what I needed done. The owner called back a few days later and made and we agreed on an appointment. At the time of my appointment I walked into the business. The owner questioned on how I got in to the locked business and asked if I had an appointment. One would expect when you make an appointment the owner would know who and how many people would be walking in for their appointments. Produced the items which we discussed on the phone. Owner scoffed and said what company is this for? Implanting he'd never work with them again. Asked for blazer to be shortened in arm length. Also needed two pairs of uniform pants to be taken up. Made me try both pairs of pants which is fine but these are test items so the quality isn't perfect. The pant lengths where two different sizes. Which is not fault of mine I'm merely wearing/fitting for what I was sent. A good tailor should be able to hem pants to two lengths regardless. The owner straight up refused to work on my blazer regardless of me stating I needed to wear it daily for work and the length won't work. Said that since it was for a wear test it doesn't matter anyways. Stated that it would be too much work or cost too much money. I'm ok with paying if my expectations are met but just rushed me out the door. The owner said they won't work on the blazer and I should just take the pants with me. The tailor basically shoed me out the door saying "I'm an American and I have to pay taxes! You can probably find someone else who will do this for cheaper". I was 100% willing to pay and support local and bring business to a small local American Business but boy what a WEIRD experience. read more

We have been going to Dad's Shop for tailoring needs for the past year or so and have been pleased with the services. The lead time is fair and the resulting product has been good. The owner is honest and straightforward while fitting garments, and you can tell he has a lot of expertise. We always receive a helpful explanation of how things should fit; I have had next to no experience with men's suits, so I have found our visits to be especially helpful. I don't know a lot about tailoring prices, however for the results the costs here seem to be fair. I would recommend this business to friends who were looking for tailoring services. read more

I stopped in for my military uniform based on great recommendations from my coworkers. The clerk said "yes we do military, but that looks like Army", I said yes and she proceeds to tell me how the owner is no longer doing Army uniforms because of a previous incident with an unhappy customer. Part of doing business is sometimes dealing with unhappy customers, but to exclude a group of people from your business because of that is called discrimination. The website clearly states they work on uniforms of all branches of the military. Perhaps it should be corrected to exclude the Army. read more

Regarding the other reviewer's negative comments, I know that the majority of the shop's business is military uniforms. Perhaps that was just a single unfortunate experience. I have taken 4 pair of men's pants to Dads Shop for hemming since my favorite tailor retired. On both occasions the turn around time was a few days and the quality of the work was great. Dads charges $10 to hem a pair of pants which I found to be reasonable. I definitely plan to use Dads Shop again. read more

I had quite a few different sets of pants altered by him and I'm very happy with the service. I'm picky, but he was the best I've ever experienced. I will always go back for future needs. read more

Great service and prices on all alterations and the best place to go for creative face masks in town. Take your kids there! I had a mask made with my company logo on, very intricate and (I thought) hard to replicate. The mask came our perfect. See for yourself. read more

I did not have the same experience as the other reviews above me. I also took in military uniforms to be altered, and he was very efficient and knowledgeable. I requested the alterations be done quickly, and got a call later that afternoon to pick up the order. I have brought all my uniforms there since. I will admit, though, that the prices were higher than I thought they would be. Maybe I am just used to having this sort of thing done on post. read more

I took military uniforms to this place. From the onset of my arrival the shop's owner was very unprofessional, rude, and sexist. He was very harsh towards me for not understanding how alterations are done and proceeded to make me feel very uncomfortable while fitting me for the adjustments (made sexist comments). He was also very rude when I came back to pick up the uniform (I only left one set because of how uncomfortable he made me). The work was not satisfactory. And although the owner did offer to work on them again, I declined as I was very unhappy with the service and was not comfortable with him fitting me again. After a heated discussion regarding my concerns and how much he was charging, we came to the agreement that I would not be paying for the services (regardless of my offer to pay for a portion of the completed work) and I left with my uniform. The owner is extremely disrespectful of men and women in uniform. I DO NOT recommend this place of business to anyone. read more

I have had two very positive experiences at Dad's Shop. The owner and his wife were extremely helpful and professional. They do excellent work at a very fair and reasonable price.
