I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of their teppanyaki during my visit. We actually changed our reservation from a regular sushi bar to a teppanyaki because we unexpectedly had a bigger party. Instead of the fried rice like most other teppanyaki places, they actually have fried garlic noodles. It is DELICIOUS. I am so impressed. The beef, chicken and seafood are all very good as well. If you come here for the hibachi dinner, you MUST have George be your chef!!! He was such a blast to have at our dinner. We were celebrating some friends' bdays and he entertained us throughout the whole meal. The food was delicious too- I had to steal and shrimp combo and my meat was grilled to medium rare perfect. The bar also had a happy hour so we got some drinks before our reservation. Best part? It happened to be karaoke night! 12/28/23 This was my second time here. Both early dinners. Last time I was here, we did the teppanyaki, but this time, we just sat at a regular table. It's a must to try both. The teppanyaki chef was very entertaining! Food was delicious. I believe my share was around $80. Looking at the menu, I'm sure I ordered the filet minot but we had many drinks that night so that explains it. All I remember was that the service/chef was amazing and the food was so delicious. Today's order was more simple. We ordered the shrimp tempura, Nigiri/sashimi special, and the Friki Tiki, which is crunchy roll topped with seared albacore and 2 bottles of Kikusui sake. Everything was simple but perfect. We made it on time for happy hour so the food items were a little cheaper. Parking lot is limited. I'm sure you can find a spot on the street. If you're using gps, slow down before you come up on the restaurant because it's on pch - a very busy highway. You might miss it! Overall, 10/10. This place used to be the hot place to grab sushi and Teppanaki but now it is dated and was a ghost town on a Friday night at 7pm. I don't know if it's just the economy or is it this place? I knew something was wrong as soon as I drove into the parking lot and I saw 3 cars. our chef was fantastic and the food portions were enormous....but the empty vibe felt weird and we just wanted to eat and leave. Took my wife and some friends here for my wife's birthday, we had an excellent time! Food was great, the experience with the chef at the teppon section was super fun and very entertaining! We went on a slow night so it wasn't super loud or crowded. I was there tonight, on a Sunday, and the yellowtail in my delicious Cinco de Mayo roll, prepared by Charles, the sushi chef, was extremely fresh! The spicy edamame was fabulous, and the PCH roll has every beautiful fish I love and "torched" avocado. Dishonesty of 10% surprise charge added on to all patrons checks without warning. The chef was very nice. Service was good. The issue came when we went to pay. Our bill was around $140 for 3 adult sized meals and some drinks for the adults. Tax was $25.00. Sales tax in Sunset Beach is 7.75%, so $25 didn't make sense. We asked the manager/ owner. She said that they charge every patron of their restaurant 10% extra fee in addition to taxes and tips because costs have gone up in the past few years and she doesn't want to or can't pay to change the menus to tell customers about the cost change. That added 10% fee is included in the "TAX" line on your bill, not separately. We understand that new menus cost a lot, but what about the people going to your restaurant who budgeted $140 due to prices posted online, for their meal only to cost 10% more, and to only find out that it costs 10% more when the bill comes to you. We did not see it on the menu etc that 10% would be added. Please at least add a sticker to your current menus/ online on top alerting of the 10% surcharge. We get rising costs and needing to be able to afford to run the restaurant. You can just make new paper menus for cheap, like many other restaurants in Sunset Beach have. We just really didn't like the dishonesty of 10% surprise charge added on to the check without warning. Unfortunately, we won't be back. read more

Rambo, George and Leo are always great. The food is always delicious. This review is based off of the "deals" they offer. I purchased the $50 for $35 they offer. I ordered a California roll, plain edemame, and the chicken teppan. And just for myself. We all made it clear how many were in each party. The owner also has to come and help the server to input the "savings "So the server comes and says the balance is 4.00+ then says oh wait.. comes back with the new bill. It's $9+ extra (as a gratuity) not $4. On the new bill the added a $9 tip. So I paid 35 and then the tip they decided to add. So that means the 35+4+ 9 (plus the change) all came out to 50 anyway. My bf scanned their QR code to get the $20 off and his first bill had no gratuity included on his $100+ meal. Once he mentioned the coupon they honored it but when they handed him the new bill they added a $20 gratuity so his bill came out the same. Where was the savings? read more

First time here and the service and food was amazing! I tried the Sunset Beach Roll, Rainbow roll, Daimon Steak Bites, and Fried Shiitake Mushrooms! And would recommend all of these. The fish was really fresh and the fried mushrooms were fried to perfection, light batter and not oily! They have a unique drink menu, so definitely worth getting and trying one! The sushi bar is in the front and the Teppanyaki is in the back of the restaurant. Call in early and reserve a spot for the Teppanyaki!! FYI, for those instagrammers and snapchatters, they have beautiful, glow in the dark looking artwork on the walls! Won't want to spoil anything, so go and check it out! Wow! This place is great! First off, when you walk in, they have such a great vibe, Cool music, art covering most of the walls. Then I was really impressed with the food! While we waited for our reservation for tepan , We ordered some sushi rolls and shiitake mushroom tempura. The rolls were excellent, one was the sun burn, and my fav was the PCH roll. The mushroom tempura was so good that I thought about a second order! The tepan was very good, I ordered the scallops and they were perfect. There are a few things wrong with this place. First it doesn't appear to be very clean (dimly lit so I'm judging by the smell). The sushi is average at best. Yellowtail did not seem fresh and I was served a California roll with completely hard unripe avocado in it. I'd rather they just leave the avocado out at that point. They post their hours as being open as of 4pm but I dropped in at 4:30 and they didn't seem remotely ready for service. None of the sushi cases had fish in them and the rice wasn't quite ready when they opened at 4 (I called in for takeout). Lastly the boss lady that appears to be running the place seems like a piece of work. I feel bad for the employees. read more

We've been going here for years, but last night was by far the worst experience I've had in a restaurant. when we first arrived, they asked us if we wanted anything to drink half of the drinks we asked for they didn't have and they had zero beers on tap. I had to stand up three times to ask the waitress to bring me a drink and water! I was shorted food and the cook went back to ask for more scallops and the waitress came out and said she has it on camera that they gave us enough and I heard her say it out loud. The poor cook couldn't even cut a steak properly, and the food was extremely over salted! The entire experience from the moment we got there was bad!
