Garlic Naan & an order of Chicken Madras & Lamb Madras - spice level 8 - sooooo good!!!

Came back - drove from Augusta to get the Madras here - to die for!! Ordered a couple extra to go!! Would buy it by the bucket if we could! We need Mother India in Augusta!! Excellent, attentive service, great ambiance. Yum!!

Throughout the years the service, atmosphere, and food at Mother India have remained harmoniously consistent. Despite all the new and shiny restaurants popping up all over the state, it can be hard to deviate away from somewhere like here when you know - without a doubt - that you'll be genuinely welcomed by the owners who will then stuff you full of delicious food that will be exactly how you remembered it or hoped it would be. When I'm in town visiting my dad, this is usually our go to (I introduced him to Indian food a couple years ago and now he's obsessed). I think I've tried nearly everything on the menu since my father doesn't actually know how to eat at a restaurant like a normal person; he only feasts like a king so our gluttonous nights out include a little bit of everything and then some. That being said, definitely don't miss the: **Papadams - mostly, I'll do anything for a good chutney and Mother India's are not to be missed; papadams are the perfect vessel for whatever magic is happening in those silver bowls. **Punjabi Nan - this is my favorite naan in the state (and the only one I'll actively go out of my way to order); the bread is that perfect combination of fluffy and charcoal-y, and this particular one is filled with a sweet coconut, spice, and nut blend. **Nav Rattan Korma - it's like all the best parts of Indian food (cauliflower, green peas, potatoes, cashews, raisins, and homemade cheese) in a thick gingery, garlicky, cardamom spiced sauce. When a restaurant does this well (like MI does), it's out of this world! Also: Mother India offers vegan options. Though they might not be clearly listed on the menu - the offer to make something is. Take. Them. Up. On. It. You will not be disappointed. This place feels homey and the vibe is always really mellow here (I think the hues of gold and maroon make me zen out). Mother India, to me, as become a staple of the Lewiston/Auburn food scene and I'm delighted that so many people have discovered it!

After considering it for awhile (too long) we ventured in for an early Sunday dinner while our daughter was at a birthday dinner with friends. Everything about Mother India was a treat for our senses - decor, music, hospitality, and food! We started with Garlic Nan and Onion Kulcha. Both were warm and scrummy as they were, but the variety of dipping sauces added a spicy touch. As vegans, we were looking for delicious options and were not disappointed by the Mushroom Mutter (0 spice for my wife) and Vegetable Biryani (4 spice - perfect!). We had plenty to take home, so we'll probably opt to share an entree next time. We'll be back again soon!

The food has layers of flavors and amazing depth. The Sunday buffet is so fantastic and filled with choices of fresh naan and rich curries. Don't miss this diamond

Food was good not great...to me...for the price. Service through a door was Covid. I just felt I didn't get their best.

Did not like the food. The dish did not taste like freshly made. Chicken was very dry and tasteless. Sorry

Food was okay. Not as flavorful as many other similar places. Phone service was WEIRD, to say the least.

Excellent food. Friendly owners and staff. I do miss the buffet on Sunday's but can survive with takeout. A bit pricey but worth it.

I haven't been here in forever, it never was a place that thrilled me. But I ran into an old friend…read morewho said they'd been in the kitchen here for the past 6+ years, so I had to give em another shot. Damn! I don't know if they stepped up their game, if last time I was here was an off day or if my man in the kitchen has anything to do with it. But this place lives in a while different place in my brain. Apps Asparogi Avvolti: Prosciutto wrapped asparagus with fontina cheese and balsamic glaze. Sweet young asparagus, wrapped in salty prosciutto with nutty fontina melted over the topped, drizzled with the perfect about if sweet glaze. Fried Calamari: calamari, fried cherry peppers, arugula, and cherry pepper aïoli. Fresh, breading was light and crispy. My only complaint here is there weren't enough tentacles, a lot of rings. I usually only eat tentacles because the rings are usually close cousins to rubber bands. That was not the case here, but I still wanted more tentacles. Either way very delicious. Main Brick Oven Brie Pizza!! Amazing, they crossed perfect, light chewy cooked through, not soggy in the middle. Everything you want out of pizza crust. I find myself constantly disappointed in the Lewiston Auburn area when it comes to pizza. There's one other place I go that's in Auburn, it's nice to know there is a second option if you want a pizza crust that doesn't taste and feel like cardboard. I will be back to try more things and let you know all about them.

My son brought me to this spacious and gorgeous restaurant while I was visiting him in Lewiston,…read moreME. The brick and wooden beam architecture from the old milll remains which provides such an aesetically pleasing atmosphere. It is great that this building has been able to be repurposed . We sat at the bar which is a full bar. My son dines here often and recommened some dishes he had tried. There were many dishes on the menu I wanted to try! Garlic knots were the first things out and they were very tasty and addictive. My son decided on the linguini carbonara, although not a classic carbonara dish, it remains one of his favorites. I tried it and it was creamy, indulgent, fresh, and the pasta was perfectly cooked. I chose the gnocchi with in house made bolognese sauce topped with ricotta cheese. I loved it and it tasted even better heated up the next day. Entrees come with a choice of soup or salad; he went with the salad and I had the homemade Italian wedding soup. We were both pleased with our choices. The portions were quite generous, service was on point all evening, and the entire establishment and restrooms were immaculately clean and well organized. Large parking lot, but heard it fills up fast at this popular spot. I highly recommend and look forward to returning.
