Nice, clean and friendly DQ! We were staying in Yachats for a week, about 40 mins north of Florence. One morning we decided to head south down highway 101 to see what we could find. We found an Abby's, and stopped for pizza. Afterwards I checked Google Maps for 'ice cream near me' and was delighted to see a DQ close by. I've been seeing a lot of social media posts recently with people raving about their new mint cookie dipped cone. It did not disappoint! So yummy! The parking lot was clean and decent sized. The employee in the drive-thru was friendly and quick! We will definitely stop here in the future when visiting Florence. Would recommend. read more

Five stars you may ask? Why, you may ask? Because this dairy queen is like all the others, very consistent, nothing exceptionally noteworthy but very consistent. With fast food chains we expect a sort of bland consistency and this place has it. Very often there's a line waiting for the drive through, it's in a busy location. Everyone I've dealt with here has been above the typical fast food worker as they seemingly care for their job. That alone is a step up. Have had the hot dog and burgers. Really like hot dog with chili but don't get enough of it for me so go with the burgers which are step above other fast food chains. Overall good. read more

How ridiculous that the dining highlight of our stay in Florence (thus far) is the local Dairy Queen. Now I am not ordinarily cuckoo for DQ, but this location is the cleanest and most patriotic I've ever seen. There are Uncle Sam's with flags lining the walls. The booths are comfortable and the large windows offer views of the Siuslaw River and sand dunes in Honeyman State Park. I wanted to do the local thing and go to BJ's, but their prices are quite high and sometimes a Blizzard hits the spot. read more

We tried Dairy Queen today because it was recently "remodeled" and we were curious to see the inside. As locals we've been here before -- half a dozen times over the past three years. The outside has been spiffed up, but the inside is much the same. Old carpeting still needs to be replaced, chips in some of the counters, etc. They did replace several of the booths that were totally unusable the last time we were here. HOWEVER, the food and service was excellent and a great value! Much better on all three counts than anything at the McDonald's in this town -- not to mention it is calm, quiet, has a view, and you don't feel like you're eating in the middle of a crowded intersection (like you do in the Florence McDonald's). Hubby and I both had the $5 box lunch -- three pieces of chicken (mine actually had four pieces!), fries, a small drink and a small sundae for $5!! The chicken and fries were fresh and hot, the drink was refillable and, though the sundae looked small, it was more than enough! Service was prompt and friendly. Ice cream before meals so that it's a messy goopy cup full of milk. The chili cheese fries were disgusting and had a weird flavor. I went up to get my youngest kid cones and 2 others for my hubby and son. Those two were put directly on a freezer shelf(nothing covering shelves) and never given to me. When I asked for a refund because everyone was done eating and I never received the two cones I paid for the manager and workers told me I needed to ask the girls making ice cream..umm no call my number and hand it to me as I was waiting at the counter. The manager with dark short hair is rude and condescending and telling me to have a nice day snotty like after I told her they needed to get their act together. No as a manager of Dairy Queen you should be managing your employees and not expecting the customers to beg for their dang food that's been paid for. I ordered an Oreo blizzard cake for my daughter's birthday. I was confused when the cake decorator called and asked if I wanted anything written on it. I said no because the person I ordered it from said there wouldn't be any room because of the Oreos. Just like the picture on the website. I picked it up and it was empty, no Oreos except a few crushed around the edge. When we cut into it there was no Oreo blizzard, just vanilla ice cream and chocolate ice cream. No Oreo, no fudge, just plain vanilla and chocolate. So what did I pay extra for? The local DQ that made it just said sorry come back again. Really? How about refunding the extra I paid or a cupon for a free Oreo blizzard for my daughter? I was surprised by the lack of caring. DQ isn't the only ice cream shop in town. read more

Dairy Queen should be VERY PROUD of it's Florence,Oregon location. Cleanliness, Customer Service & Location, location, location!! This place has large windows to enjoy the gorgeous views of the Honeyman dunes. Having been a manager of my own store for many years; it was really refreshing to see a "fast food" restaurant put some serious elbow grease into their store. They didn't miss the smallest details. We were greeted immediately upon entering, all the table lamps were clear of dust, seats were clean with not tears or rips, the bathroom was fully stocked & clean. The fabulous girl at the counter (who's name I foolishly did not get) was awesome. Great personality, red hair, people person :) She was out on the floor cleaning tables and messes within 5-10 mins of our arrival. The store itself was just fantastic, plants in the lobby, ceiling fans to move the flowing ocean breeze. Not to mention the food & ice cream were PERFECT!! Thank you Dairy Queen for making our Mother's Day vacation a sweet one :D I'm not one to write a review on a "fast food" restaurant but, when you're doing it RIGHT, . . . I don't like to give negative reviews, however after multiple visits to this DQ, I'm afraid it has earned it I have experienced numerous occasions when my order has been incorrect. However, on my last visit it was by far the worst, and most unforgivable. To begin with, two blizzards along with two chicken strip meals with gravy dip, were ordered. The two blizzards were not remotely what we ordered. It wasn't discovered until I got home. I called up DQ to let them know of their error, and to check with the employee who made them so that I could find out what I was given. This was of great concern as my husband has severe food allergies. They assured me that I had received what I had ordered, but that sometimes ingredients will be transferred from cup to cup, indicating they don't clean or rinse the mixer item between blizzards, etc. a definite concern as mine was loaded with nuts and what I ordered should have had no nuts. We could not identify what was in my husband's cup, which we found ingredients there that also should not have been included, and no ingredients in either cup that should have been included, aside from the ice cream. Secondly, I became violently ill midway through my meal. I was sick for two days following it. Though I can't say which food exactly made me so sick, there is no doubt it came from DQ. I strongly caution anyone thinking of eating anything from the Florence Oregon DQ. Especially if you have food allergies. Since I have no food allergies, I have to wonder which item was bad. read more

Went through the drive through, the cashier was having difficulty hearing us due to feedback. So we requested to just come up to the window to place our order due to the issues with the equipment. We had the young lady clear our order so that we could start fresh. While we were making our order the cashier was called to the back. One of the other employees walked up to the window and shut it on us complaining that it was cold. The cashier came back and continued to take our order but was called back again. This time we heard someone yelling at her and being overly aggressive. We asked the cashier to get the person yelling at her so that we could talk to them. We were informed that it was one of the owners. When she came around the corner she didn't even acknowledge our existence and started filling up the bag. She then asked the cashier what else we ordered and that's when we let her know that we didn't want anything else, just to talk to her. We told her that the cashier was doing a great job trying to get our order placed, that's when she piped in with the fact that the order was cleared and started again. We then informed her that we had the order cleared, and that we heard her yelling at the cashier being very rude and disrespectful. She denied yelling, and we told her that we could hear everything she said. She basically called us liars, that's when we informed her that as much as we used to enjoy going there, we would rather give our money to just about anyone else but them. No employee should ever be treated like this one was, nor should any customer ever be spoken to the way we were. We live here, and take pride in our city but would NEVER treat another like we were treated. As far as the food, I won't say either good or bad. But the customer service is extremely poor. WORST DAIRY QUEEN EVER!!!!! After being in Florence for 3 months and going to this DQ almost daily, I've learned that they are ALWAYS out of chocolate ice cream by 6:00pm. I've even been told as much by the staff. (Seriously, if you KNOW you're always out of ice cream by 6pm, isn't it time to do some better planning?) Anyway, tonight my mom & went there (it was 7:30pm, so I had no hope of getting my usual chocolate cone), I asked to confirm they were out of chocolate, and, indeed, they were. So I ordered my runner-up item, a mint oreo Blizzard. When we got to the window, the rude kid handed me my Blizzard and rather than it's usual green color, it was white. So I asked "is this mint?" to which he replied, "yes". (I knew by looking at it that it was NOT). I pulled my car around to the front and parked, tasted the Blizzard and it DEFINITELY was NOT mint. So I went inside and handed it to the other rude kid and said, very politely, "excuse me? This is supposed to be a mint Oreo Blizzard and there's no mint in it. It's not even green". The guy freaked out and said, no, yelled, "I MADE IT MYSELF AND I PUT THE ALLOWE AMOUNT OF MINT IN IT! IF YOU WANT MORE YOU HAVE TO PAY FOR IT!" I said, "I don't want MORE, I just want SOME!" He said "Like I just said, if you want more I'll have to charge you for it". I have had several mint Oreo Blizzards in my lifetime and I know the difference between mint and non-mint. I also know the difference between white and green. But there was no getting through to this guy, so I asked for the manager. Very cockily and with a cocky grin, he said "you're lookin at him". I said "you're the manager and this is how you treat your customers? I guess I'll call the owner tomorrow" he said "go ahead, I don't give a shit. And she won't either" (yes, he said shit). So I left with my (NON-mint) Oreo Blizzard and stirred it, hoping to maybe scrape up some of the "mint" that was supposedly in there. Instead, I had not just Oreos, but M&M's, pieces of Butterfinger & peanuts and who knows what else was in there. So I'm guessing they don't clean their machines very often. As I said before, I go to this DQ almost everyday. I've gotten used to the rude employees, the s-l-o-w service, the being-out-of-almost-everything, the burnt food, the STALE cones (they are ALWAYS stale)... but they're the only DQ for 100 miles and I guess there's really no good excuse. But after tonight, I will never, never, NEVER go back there again. EVER. I called the corporate office and was told they get more complaints about this particular Dairy Queen than any other in Oregon. Rude, Rude, and Rude. The burgers were actually burnt black, cold, and the cheese wasn't even melted. The choc. shake looked like vanilla=just slightly tan, and tasted like vanilla. I asked if it was choc. and was told rudely-yes, I made it myself. I asked for it to be redone and brown at least to look like choc. and was told-Lady, I already told you I made it and it is choc I asked for fry sauce and ketchup and was told they were out of both. Now really, when you order fries do you usually want at least ketchup? I was told to pull ahead and they would get me some ketchup. She just about threw it in my lap in a small open container. This is not my first rude trip there with food problems but it will be my last. Hopefully this helps others to go somewhere else. read more

Today my wife and I stood in line looking up at the menu board signs trying to decide what to order for lunch. The largest, and most attention getting, sign said "$5 Buck Lunch" Bacon Cheeseburger, complete with a photo of everything you'd get...the burger, the fries, the drink and the sundae of your choice. We both decided that was good with us. Once we to went order the girl behind the counter said we could not have that, it was only good Monday - Friday during certain "lunch hours." I looked at the sign again to confirm and saw that it says nothing about that at all. So we re-grouped and ordered basically the same thing but the total was now $20 and change. While eating what was only a mediocre meal at best, (cold burger, cold fries), we could over-hear 3 other sets of customers fall into the same trap at the counter. Common sense would seem to dictate that advertising, and in store menu signs, should show the restrictions, if applicable! Seems downright dishonest to us! Sadly, we are locals and this would be our "home" DQ spot. All we can do now is spread the word (the truth) in our small little town...shouldn't take too long. I wish I wouldn't have gone to this Dairy Queen. When we asked if we could do separate orders in the drive thru the response was "I suppose". After we began to order the woman was extremely short with us, often curtly responding with "What size?!" And "what else?!". In the middle of ordering we wished we could just leave but we're already stuck in their drive thru line. I understand employees have bad days but this was one for the books. There's nothing I hate more than to feel like I'm inconveniencing someone for wanting them to preform the basics of their job. This is way too high for this place. I wish I would have checked Yelp before driving in the drive thru. We came up I was excited they had coconut which Washington DQs do not. My favorite blizzard is the Hawaiian. The girl in the drive thru was super pushy. Every time I ordered even one item she was like "any thing else" one more item "anything else" finally I was like hey I am not done can you be patient and just let me order. I turned to my passenger and said "Omg I can't think with her keep saying anything else I lose my train of thought". The girl waited for a bit and goes all snotty like "uh yeah!" I was shocked. I went in to talk to the manager. The rude drive thru girl got in my face saying I was mimicking her and she can here everything on the head set. Just not very well cause she didn't hear me properly. Her and her coworker proceeded to get the manager and sneaker and shit talk me. The manager said there was nothing she could do but I could come in and talk to the owner but the owner is real sassy too. The manager was nice but didn't really care how her employees acted. She just defended them by telling me that people are stupid and don't know how to order so they have to push them along, or they just sit at the speaker and then scream at them. I wonder if she realized they get screamed at for their poor customer service. I have worked drive thru and yes you get all kinds of people but this manager was way off base. People generally know what they want or they take a minute read the menu and order. I think this store as just got an I don't care attitude cause coming into town and turning left the are the first place you see. I will not be back and don't advice anyone to come here. Turn around go left and there is McDonald's and Taco Bell and A&W down the way. And I guess in town this place has the reputation of not being very nice especially the owner. read more

Shocked! At the fact that a chain could get away with not only the lack of participation in any advertised specials, but also doesn't seem to care for its local customer base. For example the turtle waffle cone, My wife ordered this delicious looking caramel covered waffle bowl full of ice cream as the picture implies, what we revived was a joke. No more than the top of a youth ice cream cone , the size of a golf ball , giving enormity to the empty waffle bowl, lol, no joke! I handed it back to the cashier who agreed with me when I asked " would you pay five dollars for this" ? She handed it to the manager who walked it back to the window, and rudely told me. They follow a strict recipe while making all items and the ice cream is weighed out. These antics may work in the city but out here we work for what we have. So refund it was. Don't think I will go to another DQ again. I was with a group of 8, each couple paying separately. Oddly, 6 of us ordered Flamethrowers and 2 of us ordered chicken strips. My husband and I were the 4th to order. First they messed up our blizzard order (which we had given to them 30 seconds before). Then about 15 minutes later, everyone in our group had gotten their food except my husband and I, including the ones that ordered after us. Went up to ask about our order, there were our chicken strips under the warmer and apparently they "messed up" the other half of our order, whoops sorry. That's about all I got out of them, the girl handed me the chicken strips and said they'd bring the burger out... no compensation. When I finally got the burger, it was the soggiest, nastiest burger I'd ever seen, the bacon that was supposed to be on it was basically non-existent, maybe a strip. Ugh. Couldn't eat 70% of it. VERY POOR SERVICE! Arrived at this location one night to find that both the 'open' sign and 'drive thru open' sign were both on. As I approached the drive thru one young lady poked her head out of the back door and yelled, "we're closed!" To which I replied, "okay, but both of your open signs are on." This young woman just slammed the door shut. I followed the drive thru around to the front, where I point toward the signs to show them that their signs were on. What I received in return was the middle finger from another male staff member who was mopping the floor! I was not upset with the actions of the first young lady, however the type of behavior displayed by the young man is unacceptable. Your staff in Florence, Oregon is unprofessional, rude and blatantly disrespectful! I wish that I had two sets of hands so that I could give this location 4 thumbs down. I would have given zero stars if Yelp would allow me to. Please address this issue with your staff as soon as possible!
