I had lunch with my family last Sunday here. It's been a few years since I went inside to enjoy a meal. I love the tables in here instead of the booths. Raquel did a great job servicing us where we got our meals on time. Most Dairy Queen's in the east Texas area don't like making my Cherry Limeade so I always love coming home to get this drink here. This was the worst experience of any Dairy Queen I have ever gone to. The only good thing was the steak fingers which were hot and tasty. I asked for ketchup and all I got was a dirty look and 1 packet between 2 meals. No napkins. We also ordered chocolate truffel blizzards. We got pecan. Not even close to what we ordered. Stopped here for a meal with family after visiting Big Bend National Park. The restaurant itself was relatively clean; our blizzards came out quickly and were about what you would expect from a Dairy Queen. My triple-patty burger came with only two patties, but the staff apologized and corrected the error quickly. The only real critique I have is that the prices were a touch high, and if I had to nitpick, the presentation of my burger was a little sloppy; nothing out of the ordinary for a fast food joint, though. Overall, this place deserves more than the 1.6 stars it has. If you're passing by the area and/or looking for a quick meal, you won't be disappointed. read more

We were about to take our 1.5 hr journey to the Big Bend since we stayed overnight in Fort Stockton, TX. We woke up late and since there is practically nothing in the Big Bend, I suggested to buy our breakfast and lunch at the same place. Thank goodness, Dairy Queen opens at 10. We arrived there at around 9:45 so we have to wait for a bit. However, they did not open the door until 10:10. We were the first one to come in since we are the only ones. We were so happy. The supervisor was very nice. She said that she is usually the only one there until 12:00. Frankly, I do not even remember what we got. I just know I got their burger which taste like an ordinary burger. I must commend them though that they did not screw it up. However, this place has a special place in my heart aside from the cholesterol from the burger. This place saved us. A witch named kristel was so rude, yelling at me because I could not hear her well. It took a loooooong time to get food. When i got to window she said food was $7.35 so I gave her a $10 bill. She takes the money and starts shoving stuff at me one by one. I drove to park and eat outside then realized that mz attitude did not give me my change. I had a good experience at this Dairy Queen. I ordered my usual chili cheeseburger. They got the burger exactly right, which surprisingly doesnt always happen. The chili and patty were hot and the cheese was nicely melted. It was delicious. They have the cotton candy blizzard back as the blizzard of the month for November. Awesome! I got a mini one and it was really good. The candy pieces are great. They didnt mix the blizzard very well and all the candy and flavoring was in the top 2/3 of the blizzard. WARNING!!! Do NOT stop at this Dairy Queen!!! Passing through Fort Stockton we decided to stop and grab some food. My family and I walked in as we were putting on our masks, when the employees that were sitting at the customer's tables rudely demanded that we put on our masks (we were already in the process of doing so). So, because of the RUDE uncalled for attitude from the employees, we decided to eat elsewhere. As we were walking out the door, the employees yelled out "BYE!!!" very sarcastically! As we were walking to our vehicle one of the female employees ran out outside to shout something at us but we were not able to make out what she had yelled!! As we got in our vehicle to leave, the female employees were at the window flipping my family off!!!. The HARASSMENT from the employees was EXTREMELY uncalled for. Stick with the basics and you'll do just fine. This place isn't known for anything other than soft serve and burgers so there's no need to venture away from that. It's fast food in a hick town in the middle of nowhere, so get your burger and blizzard and hightail it outta there! The restrooms can get tricky and the dining area could use more attention from the service staff. This is what you get at DQ in Ft. Stockton along with a 20 min wait in the drive thru as you are passing thru just to grab what you think is a good burger and ice cream place. The majority of customers are only driving thru and this is what you get. The bread was soggy within a minute of getting the food; spiced in mustard and what appears to be a re-microwaved burger. You pay $5.40 for a large blizzard and they or whomever made it only "mixes" dare I even call it that, only manages to mix half of the blizzard the bottom half is just regular ole vanilla. So you gave me a small and I still paid for a large...it's really not that hard to mix Ice cream you have to be an extra type of "idgaf" attitude and not be able to mix a blizzard. WARNING to anyone considering stopping by. ‍ I didn't check out the reviews before stopping here and it was a HUGE mistake. My husband and I were driving from El Paso and planned for a stop for some DQ. This one was the closest one for our route, the next one would have been in Ozona (Go their instead!). We ordered two meals and decided to go ahead and order blizzards too. The cashier was a young woman with a few missing teeth. She decided to take back the original number placard she gave us and handed us a new number. After waiting for about 15-20mins we noticed people who were coming after us getting their meals. As we were about to get up to go ask them about our order, we see our cashier bring what looked like our order out. So we took our seats. What happened next cannot be made up. She took our order to another table (A family that arrived after us) with the original number placard that she handed to me! The family that received the order looked confused but went on to eat the meal, poked and prodded at it. So my husband heads to the counter to find out what's going on. Waiting for another 5-10mins, waiting for any of the staff to step up to the counter as it seems all the staff were gathered in the kitchen. Finally the same cashier comes back and he tells her what happened. She then approaches that family's table and they inform her that she gave them the wrong order so she grabs the tray and wait for it... SHE HANDS IT TO US. After that family dug into it and ate parts of both of the meals! WTF!!! She was expecting us to eat the leftovers of our order that she handed to someone else?! ‍‍ Literally speechless, my husband brings it back and decided that we just want a refund and we've already spent too much time here approximately 45mins to an hour at this point. The toothless clueless cashier goes back to the kitchen to talk to someone and another woman approaches my husband and when he asks "are you the manager?" She laughs and points to the woman behind her. It was a whole fiasco of clown shit going on. The manager then steps up and gives my husband a refund. She also possibly grabbed someone's drive thru order to comp us. It was the same meals that we ordered but was received much quicker than the time it took us to order and wait for all this to play out. Everyone's review that says young clueless people are working here are true! I've never been so flabbergasted! You want food prepared by young clueless kids and slow service then this is the place for you. I don't expect much from a fast food chain, but c'mon after reading all these 1 star reviews, I realized that one more bad review couldn't hurt this place any worse than it already is. Interesting roadtrip stop! It is probably the most smokey DQ in the US to the A. So much smoke was coming out of this place I thought it was a BBQ joint. I love DQ it's usually one of the better fast food restaurants around Texas but this one should be shut down and is why I'm rating an ordinary fast food joint now. If I could give it negative stars I would. Pretty much this whole town should get negative stars it's the one place I hate the most in Texas. The DQ in Fort Stockton is to be avoided. Don't stop here for food if you have a choice. So my wife and I spent the previous night in Round Rock, TX and there were no motel rooms available in Ozona. Get the picture. Long day in the car. My wife is dying for something cold and creamy and despite the Yelp rating of ONE STAR -- a clear message -- we find the DQ. When we walk in there is a young woman sitting in a booth. She has ordered something but it hasn't been prepared. A guy is standing about 10 feet from the counter and he hasn't been waited on. There are about 5 or 6 young employees milling around, taking care of drive-thru orders. After about 4 or 5 minutes, a tall slender fellow of about 20 comes up to the counter and stands there, He doesn't speak to any customers. The guy who has been standing and waiting approaches him and orders food. The employee walks away and speaks to one of the other employees. About 2 minutes later he returns and is apparently ready to take our order but again doesn't speak. We order two mini-blizzards. Another 2 or 3 minutes pass. The young woman who had been sitting in the booth comes up to the counter and engages the tall slender fellow who summons the manager. She gets a refund. And here is the deal: the ice cream machine isn't working. Not sure how long this situation has been going on, but nobody warned us. The remarks of other reviewers that perhaps the employees are mentally slow may be an accurate one. I hate to categorize people as mentally challenged, but the young man who took our order may not be capable of making tough decisions, like telling customers that the ice cream machine doesn't work. Very poor overall service. During lunch time the food took to long. The young lady working at the counter could barely do her job because of her 1 1/2 Inch nails. None of the works were wearing hair nets while working with the food. All employees did not care about service or getting fast food out to customers. The floor had food spilled all over it and no one cared to work in clean environment. The works looked like they could care less about pride in their job, cleanliness,food quality, or what the department of health thinks. Our dinner took 24 minutes to be ready for us, which for "fast food" was a bit long. At this time, the location became a bit more popular and there were about 12 other people inside. When we finished eating, we decided to order our ice cream. We got 3 blizzards and 1 cone. This time, it took 18 minutes for our food to finish. Although, I went to the counter at about 15 min and they had forgotten ours. This location had a manager sitting over in a booth the entire time we were eating, and even after we left. There were 3 teenagers (no older than 18) running the entire kitchen and taking orders, drive thru, etc. I wanted to complain, but chose to just do a review because in no way am I angry with those kids. I am still not sure how they managed to mix it and still have the entire core top to bottom be plain ice cream. I am also not sure why the ice cream was already half melted when it was handed to me. Also...when I ordered a chili cheese dog, and you asked me if I wanted mustard and onions, and I said yes, WHY DID YOU FAIL TO PUT IT ON? I mean, why bother asking if you have no intention of doing it? I couldn't eat it anyway. I love DQ chili sauce for chili dogs, but whatever that goop was they served, it was NOT DQ chili dog sauce. Just stopped in for Peanut Buster Parfait while on a break during a road trip. It good as any other DQ. Bathrooms were clean and so was the restaurant. Two kids were sweeping. Others behind the counter were looking for things to do. They were nice enough. By the time I left the kids were arm wrestling over the front counter. Manager was walking up to them as I was walking out. The only reason I am posting this review is because of how rude the manager is. When asking for my refund because I didn't have another 15 minutes to wait, first, he was so abrupt he didn't even look at the total on the receipt and attempted to shortchange me. My wife and I were heading back on a 1 day drive back to CA from TX, and decided to stop to fill up and then get some food out in Fort Stockton. I know it was 1/1, but the majority of the city looked like it was ghost town the other 364 days of the year. Out of the few fast food options available, we decided for Dairy Queen, which seemed to be popular spot for those who looked like they were on road trips like us. The only thing saving this place from a 1 star was the kid behind the register, who was accommodating. We had ordered burgers and two blizzards, and he asked if we'd like to get them a little while after the burgers, which we did. I don't think anyone has ever asked that to me at a fast food place before. The establishment wasn't very clean, and the bathrooms were average at best. The burgers were acceptable, we are talking fast food burgers after all. But they took forever to be ready. And then we had to wait for the blizzards too, a few minutes after finishing the burgers. All in all, we probably spent at least twice as much time there as we should've. I can't say anything about the other fast food places in Fort Stockton (since I don't think most of them rate very high), but if you're on a road trip through the empty areas of Texas and need something to eat, you can run by this DQ, but I'd suggest going through the drive-thru if that's the case. read more

DON'T KNOW SIMPLE "YOU'RE WELCOME" AMONG OTHER THINGS One of the sad realities of most Texas towns is there's always a Walmart and a Dairy Queen. I generally stay away from both, but when pickings are slim to curb your sweet tooth DQ should be a safe bet for soft serve ice cream. Unfortunately all bets are off in Fort Stockton. After dinner one night at Mi Casita's my friend and I decided to curb our sweet tooth and go for an ice cream. Being a lover of caramel, toffee AND cookies you would think the DQ blizzard of the month would be a no brainer...well I realized after ordering one I was out of my mind. The cookies mixed in the blizzard seemed to be on the stale side and the caramel advertised was pretty non-existent- and that's with me lowering my expectations for both going to DQ and being in FS. The minimum I would expect from someone is to hear "your welcome" after saying "thank you" when I was given my cup. Well after two tries at being cordial I gave up. On the bright side my friends vanilla cone was fine. A few days later while passing through I thought I'd give them another chance. We drove through on our way back from Big Bend and I ordered a dipped cone while my friend went with his staple vanilla cone. After paying at the window we received two vanilla cones and I had to send one back to get dipped- and yes the receipt had a dipped cone on it. I don't know what it is about ordering through a speaker in FS (see Sonic review) but lesson learned was stick to the regular vanilla cones and don't expect pleasantries at the FS DQ. read more
