We've lived near 82nd Ave for almost 50 years, have been coming to this DQ for decades, we've always been very happy with the food, service, but today . . . of all days on a hot summer afternoon, we decided that a fast food lunch was the way to go, and since we're still in COVID-19 high risk, in Portland, we start avoiding eating indoors! With that said, we ordered, through a drive-thru, and by the time we paid for the order, our orders are ready, we pulled in a shady lot and park, to have a picnic in the car AGAIN! Hubby ordered hamburger with fries, we shared a large vanilla milk shakes (no whipped cream). I ordered the Alaskan Fish Sandwich. ALL THE FOOD CAME OUT VERY, VERY HOT! This was a first. I have to wait for awhile to eat mine, (I don't like anything too hot, and this was), every single bite, I couldn't . . . it's too hot! Now, if that was my 4 years old grandson, he would have been screaming, because it would have been too hot for him. This is my only complaint. . . She replied " I don't think we do and rudely walked away, came back with the order and shoved it at me, and slammed the window. We usually go to a different Dairy Queen where they are friendly and professional and if you asked the same question they would either know the answer or ask the person in charge. We had to repeat our order 4 times before she got it right. Asked for dome lids for our blizzards and they said they don't fit on the cups? Since when? I'm not bout to put a messy blizzard in my Mercedes cup holder because these girls can't figure out how to hand me an ice cream without it dripping everywhere and no napkins. I'm sorry. I enjoyed my Blizzard, but this place seemed miserable. The staff seemed unorganized and cluttered, the Manager was just talking random babble to her staff as I was waiting to order. I asked what two different items on the menu were to the cashier, and she had to check a paper in the back both times. Both of the items were a Blizzard with like 3 ingredients, both very similar. This place has steadily gone downhill over the last decade. It's hardly worth the headache of ordering food in person or in the drive-thru. Simple orders being messed up aren't acceptable. I've heard to many apologies to customers, almost every single order came with an apology about the service. There are a couple of employees who do well, but they aren't the ones interacting with customers, that's too bad. You should always have your best at customer service interacting with your customers. Why the low reviews?! I went on Wednesday night, 15 min before closing to satisfy my craving. Drive thru had 3 cars and I saw 3 workers: one taking out trash and cleaning bathroom, one working behind the register and another sweeping floors (there could've been more in the back). My personal grub hubby went in to order and was out 2 min later with the most perfect peanut buster parfait I've ever laid eyes on. I'm not exaggerating, it was just as pretty as the menu pics. The peanuts were whole, no broken pieces and perfectly salty. Nice hot fudge layers and cool creamy vanilla soft serve alternating between each other and a deliriously delicious symphony. My wife is having surgery so i came and grabbed some food while i waited. I ordered a 6 dollar meal deal. While ordering the music was so loud i had to yell for the guy to hear me. When it finally came out the whole burger bun and all was super hot. When it finally cooled off it was soggy. Apparently i got a microwave burger. The whole store looked grungy. And after seeing that burger i lost my appetite and threw the whole meal away. I didn't even tell them to make my blizzard. This location is an absolute Sh*t show, it's very run down and dirty inside and out. It smells like old grease inside which is a huge red flag, if you can smell grease like that it means their grease traps (and kitchen in general) haven't been cleaned in a looong time! You'll definitely be getting crud, hair, bugs and other things in your food if they don't clean the kitchen on a daily basis. Then there's the DQ staples like dilly bars, cakes etc... they are always out of stock or there's one in the freezer. And of course since it's Covid19 if you want a cake you have to sit through a long drive thru line and yup you guessed their out of stock so you sit for another 20 minutes stuck in the drive thru line And last but certainly not least the customer service is atrocious, if it's not some snot nosed teenager more interested in screwing around with their coworkers then it's a disgruntled high school dropout that smells like wet cigarettes and BO because they haven't washed their sudo uniform in a month... good luck getting anything from them in a timely manner! And finally, I ordered a brownie dough blizzard and it was completely hollow, only leaving half of my cup with any icecream, and the blizzard wasn't even blended. There was a huge glob of vanilla. The weather being as hot it has been as of late, I stopped at this location and after a bit of a wait for my cotton candy Blizzard, this seemed like a good idea at the time, however, it turned out to be too sweet and I ended up sticking half of it into the freezer. I was also disappointed my Blizzard did not come with a lid in the drive-thru, with everything going on and such and high cross contamination risk, measures such as placing a lid on drinks after being assembled, and handling currency as well, should be set in place for the safety of both employees and customers. read more

I have read the reviews on this DQ location and noticed that this problem seems to be a higher level problem. I mean the owners. How can they not make adjustments to the training or hiring that would resolve the consistent problems being reported for over 3 years? The only explanation is the owners do not know how to run a service business. I cannot with good conscience blame some 18 year old kid that has been given the "supervisor " hat for the day for not knowing how to deal with the situations leading to the poor service. Each and every poor review here has to be sent straight up to the owners. As for my experience today I was in line for a couple of blizzards and had to get a hold of the guy who appeared to be doing nothing and had him fill my order after waiting 17 minutes.
