    Hot dog combo
    Katy C.

We were looking for a quick bite to eat before heading to the airport and ended up at Dairy Queen. I have fond memories of eating hot dogs at my local DQ as a kid, so this nostalgia may have swayed me a bit. I get that it's not everyone's first choice for food, and it's definitely not gourmet. But, it was hot, fast, and cheap, which was nice after a week of vacation aka going out to eat for every meal! I got the hot dog combo and Nate got a chicken tender basket. The fries were fresh and my hot dog was tasty. The bun seemed lightly steamed and wasn't stale at all. The dining area is huge and was very clean. The chicken tender basket came with a big cup of steaming hot gravy, which we both thought was kind of weird, but we weren't mad. If you want a more typical sauce just be sure to ask. The employee taking our order was polite and efficient. It's not going to be a regular stop for me while I'm in town, but it did the trick for us on this occasion.

RUDE to the disabled. Does not care. Disgusting.

Employee was rude and inappropriate to disabled locals brought for a treat. I asked for the manager and he told me not to bother because she doesn't speak English. I told another employee that just stared at me, no apologies. Disgusting behavior from this business. Shame on you.

DQ started business in my hometown of Fort Worth back in the 1950's. We were surprised to see one in JH, so we had dinner here on our first day in town. Menu not as extensive as locations in Texas but they did have what we were wanting, so each of us had a chili dog and shared chili cheese fries and a large Dr. Pepper. Yum! We finished our meal with two small dipped cones. Prices are very high for fast food.

Far out of Jackson, so there's that to consider, but typical soft serve treats. The bathrooms have a clear window to the drive-thru. That's weird. They play the old western classic, Shane, on two TV's in the dining room. Parking is tricky when it's crowded and people are coming in and out.

Freshest burger I have had from a chain restaurant in forever, fast friendly service and this place is hoping busy today. Job well done to the staff today for taking care of the customers!!!

The weather was low 80's and they had the windows open. It was a great spot to people watch and keep an eye on a storm that was rolling in. I ordered a cold beer - Blue Moon. It was served cold with in the bottle so no orange slice for me. I am sure they would have a served it in a glass had I requested it. They were busy. The young man (host) was not at his station when I arrived, but shortly arrived and asked me how many seats I needed. He was attentive and agreed with me when I suggested the window seat. He chatted briefly about the storm rolling in. When my waiter arrived I knew what I wanted. After reading some reviews on here, I decided to order the crunchy salad with chicken. We ordered the pastrami Reuben with fries and ended up splitting it between the two of us. It was absolutely delicious and VERY hearty. The portions here are definitely generous, and one meal was plenty for two people for us. One thing that really stood out was how creative the food seems to be. This doesn't feel like a restaurant simply following the standard pub menu. Several of the dishes sounded like things they've experimented with, developed, and really made their own. There seems to be a lot of creativity and personality behind the menu. The sauce served with our Reuben was especially good. It reminded me of a cross between Thousand Island and a Big Mac-style sauce, but with its own flavor. Whatever it was, it was top-notch and went perfectly with the sandwich. The atmosphere is definitely that of a true bar/pub. We aren't drinkers, and alcohol is obviously a major focus here, from the decor to the overall feel of the restaurant. If you're not a drinker, you may feel a little out of place in the main bar area, so that is something to know going in. That being said, they do have a separate side dining room away from the main bar area, as well as a patio that looked like it would be a wonderful place to sit, eat, and enjoy the beautiful Wyoming scenery. The building itself is definitely older and a little worn down. It appeared clean on the surface, but you can tell the restaurant has seen a lot of use over the years and could probably benefit from some updating and a little extra attention in certain areas. At the same time, the rustic, well-used feel does fit the personality of a longtime local pub. Our one meal came to $25.68, so it is certainly on the pricier side for a sandwich and fries. However, this is Jackson Hole, and higher prices are somewhat expected in a tourist town. Considering how large the portions were, the price was a little easier to justify. Overall, The Bird is a fun, quirky, very casual place with huge portions and some surprisingly creative food. The pastrami Reuben was delicious, the sauce was fantastic, and I would definitely order it again.
