Got into Jackson after long travel and needed some cozy comfort food. Wow, Miazga delivered! Ordered some pirogies to start, bison and huckleberry. The bison with the caramelized onions was next level! The huckleberry was pretty good too. For the main course, we got the bison burger and the red sauce with meatballs. The bison burger was so tender and melted in my mouth. I had regretted the choice of a bison burger because I remembered how most ends up so dry, but not this. The pasta with meatballs reminded me of my childhood, but better. The meatballs are so full of flavor. Miazga's is great comfort food, perfect for a ski town. Site says dog friendly so we stopped in. They entire place was packed but there are like only 5 tables so not saying much. Asked the hostess if we could sit outside because we have dogs and they said pet friendly and she asked us if the weather was nice enough? It's 66 degrees for crying out loud. So she said go ahead and sit outside and I will bring you menus and clean a table outside. Then crickets, we sat waiting for 20 minutes without so much as I'm sorry we can't help you. I had never been to Miazga's before and I had a friend of mine who really wanted to go so we went for lunch. The inside of the restaurant is cozy but very simple. I had such high hopes and I'm so sad Miazga's did not live up to my expectations. We were the only ones dining in the restaurant yet the server took 10 minutes to come to the table and take our orders, he was hanging out behind the counter on his phone. When he decided to come over to our table and take our orders, I chose the Polish plate which includes 3 pierogies, sauerkraut, and a grilled kielbasa. I chose the potato and cheese pierogi, bison, and onion, and huckleberry. It took about a half an hour for the food to be made. Sadly the food was underwhelming. When our orders were brought to the table, we realized we received the pierogi plate not the Polish plate. The server never apologized. He did not do anything to make the mistake right either. We were also charged extra for the kielbasa sausage. Additionally when we ask for our checks, he never informed us that there was a $5 charge for separate checks. AMAZING! I love German/ Polish food and when I saw this when we were in town I knew I wanted to try it. I honestly cannot rave enough! I got the kielbasa plate and my daughter got the stuffed mushrooms. The pierogi's were amazing! I had the cheese and sauerkraut! Delicious!! The side of sauerkraut was also out of this world! I always love sauerkraut but this was grilled, which I've never had! My daughter told me to stop making noises from how yummy it was! The place is relatively small but they do have plenty of outdoor seating. It was very intimate and cute inside! Our waitress, Beverly was so helpful and extremely nice! This place was very impressive. We got a variety of dishes including pasta, veggie sandwich, and the Italian sausage and they were all very tasty. Service was good, waiting staff was young and could be a bit more attentive but not to the level that it becomes a negative. The service we received from the hostess was enough to make me download the Yelp app and leave this review. They seemed completely uninterested in helping us. We are a group of 7, and I personally work in food service so was more than understanding with a little bit of a wait, the restaurant is small, we get it. The one girl acted completely annoyed with us and when we asked the wait she replied "a long while." The server also approached our table and didn't even greet us, just started placing cups all around us. One thing we can say is THANK YOU SO MUCH! Because the lack of hospitality made us choose to get up and go to the Mexican restaurant right next door, the food was UNBELIEVABLE and the service was even better! I have no idea how this place has so many high reviews. I was specifically looking for a place that would be more quiet and less crowded. Saw the reviews here and thought it would be perfect. Our party of three arrived just before the dinner rush and were seated right away. So far so good. Then our server arrived and unfortunately she quickly turned things around for the negative. Absolute zero personality, no smile, definitely didn't want to be at work. My husband asked which is more popular for the spaghetti, the meatballs or the sausage and she blandly answered "meatballs." Dinner was served. Two of us had pasta, one the reuben. To say the spaghetti and meatballs was bad is putting it mildly. Noodles were past al dente, portion size abysmal, could have been cooked by a child and I would have believed it. My pasta dish had way too much oil and not enough flavor. Also abysmal portion size. My husband and I were nearly finished with our pasta dishes when he asked our server for bread. Which, by the way, clearly states on the menu "all pastas are served with bread and fresh Parmesan." Therefore, he shouldn't have even had to ask in the first place. Based on her response, you would have thought bread wasn't even an offering on the menu. Nope, they were "out of bread." An advertised as part Italian restaurant was out of bread. Wish I were kidding folks. Were they just hoping nobody would notice and ask?! Did we get an apology? Nope. Did we have to pay full price for our meals despite not receiving everything the menu advertised? Yup. I would love to hear from the owners here. Truly. I wish we had been in Jackson longer to eat here more than once! On a Friday at lunchtime, my husband and I were surprised to find the restaurant had plenty of open tables. After a morning full of hiking, we were glad to be served a jug of water at our table immediately after being seated. My husband opted for a Reuben sandwich with onion rings, and I went for the Polish plate with one bison and one potato cheese pierogi. His onion rings were battered and fried to crispy perfection, and his Reuben was flavorful and enormous! The sauerkraut served on my plate was the best I've ever had. The kielbasa and pierogis were yummy (I preferred the potato and cheese), but the golumpki was the real star of the show here- sweet, tangy tomato sauce, and rich, savory filling. Soooo incredibly satisfying- I could have had three! The Italian offerings also sounded phenomenal, so I do wish we could have stayed longer to come back to Miazga's for another meal- but that just gives us another reason to swing back through town someday soon. The guy at the front desk (the one with the wrist splint if the management of this restaurant actually cares about it) said in the most unctuous tone I've ever heard that 'the whole restaurant just got here'. He wasn't willing to provide a wait time, and 'didn't want to be rude' but asked us to leave without offering a reason - other than the obviously untrue one I mentioned. When we asked for a wait time, the answer was still a no - although someone who came in right after us was seated (no reservation either). When we started talking among ourselves about leaving a Google review, spots at the bar magically opened up. Do yourself a favor and stay away from this place that's clearly run by bigots - just a bad look on Jackson Hole. MANY better restaurants with common decency that actually respect the customer around. I'm no stranger to prejudiced businesses but this experience was infuriating enough to get me to create a Yelp account. read more
