I tried a new flavor Blizzard -- Ultimate Cookie, which has Oreo, Chips Ahoy and Nutter Butter cookies. I would have given another star if it was blended about 30 secs more. The staff turned it upside down and it was so thick nothing fell out (I think they have to do this or it's free). It was tasty with lots of thick pieces of cookie.

Been here before, see other review. Same stuff as usual. Very lonely, just us. Nice view.

I ordered a small dipped ice cream. It was so small. I pointed it out to 2 different employees and they both just looked at me. I said it was kid if small and the woman said, yes small. I have been going g there since it opened. There is less and less effort being made.

There's nothing better than rediscovering an old classic. Tonight was the boys' annual winter school concert, and we made our traditional stop with the boys after the show. At first when we showed up it was completely empty and we weren't sure if it was open, but with hours until 10PM, I considered it to be lucky that we didn't have to wait in a line (something this DQ is famous for). We stepped in, it was toasty warm in there, tables clean, and we were greeted by the super friendly staff. I got the salted caramel Blizzard. Kiddos ordered up chocolate dipped ice cream in a waffle cone. First of all, I scored a major win with the Blizzard. I didn't know what to expect, but it was worth every bite. Chunky caramel pieces mixed with smooth chocolate ice cream. I was impressed with the waffle cone holder contraption wrapped around the boys' cones to help with drips. They also served the cones with a spoon...not something I've seen at other Dairy Queens. Yep, this place knows how to deal with messy kiddos. Remember my mention of the lines? I kid you not, right after we sat down with our ice cream, being the only customers in the shop, families and teens started coming in and the lines began. Worried that the cold treat competition may have gotten to this place, I'm thrilled to know they are a-ok and serving up lots of iced treats and proud smiles. Note: Their sandwich items are baked in an oven. Also, they serve up Orange Julius drinks with recipes from the past. Bonus: Stop by this time of year in the evening, and you can enjoy a great view of the lights wrapped around the trees in Port Clinton.

We had a 7 o'clock reservation and did not get seated until almost 7:30 which happened to us when I ate here a year ago. The restaurant seemed extremely busy. However, they were extremely accommodating and apologized for seating us late. In addition, they sent over three appetizers for free because of the delay in seating us. That alone gets five stars from me. We had the tavern style pizza, which is only offered on Monday nights and it was delicious! The meatballs, fried cheese and salad was amazing as well! I recommend their creamy Italian dressing. It is delicious! They also brought over some bread and butter, and the butter had coarse salt mixed into it, which was unbelievable! He was attentive, friendly, knowledgeable, and made sure we had everything we needed throughout the evening. The manager also stopped by to check on us, which really showed how much they care about their guests. I've dined at much more expensive restaurants before, and I've honestly never experienced this level of hospitality. The food was incredible 10/10! Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and perfectly prepared. The portions were generous, and I couldn't even finish my meal because there was so much delicious food. Overall, this was one of the best dining experiences I've ever had. From the outstanding service to the beautiful ambiance and amazing food, everything exceeded our expectations. Thank you to Nathan and the entire team for making our anniversary so memorable. We will definitely be back and highly recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an exceptional dining experience!

However, I feel that the selection of items, freshness of produce, and general pricing isn't as good as what it once was. Although the self-checkout area had a different staff each time I went, the staff I encountered were all friendly and helpful. In the most recent trip, a staff named Marty even came up to me to say "Hello, how are you?" This gesture really set the tone for a happy checkout. Right after Thanksgiving, I saw a sign on sweet potatoes advertising 29 cents a pound with digital coupon and the Mariano's loyalty card, which was an excellent deal.  So, I called my husband to clip the digital coupon online with the home computer while I was getting some sweet potatoes.  However, my husband could not find the coupon on Mariano's website.  I saw a staff working in the produce department who looked like a manager, named Matthew, and told him about the situation.  He found that the deal had just expired even though the sign was still posted.  He still graciously honored the discounted price. At self-checkout, a staff named Meredith gladly honored the price as well without needing to verify it with Matthew.  Although I was only saving about $2, this kind of trust, friendliness, and flexibility were great customer service and made me happy. During the same visit, I noticed that Mariano's had replaced all of their shopping carts with brand new plastic ones.  These new shopping carts were clean and sturdy, and very smooth and easy to maneuver. I like that Mariano's really works on enhancing customers' shopping experience.   Kudos to the Northbrook management and staff for doing such a great job.

We were able to get last minute reservations for 8:30 on a Friday, which was surprising given how extremely busy this place is on the weekends. We arrived on time and were seated quickly without a wait, which was another impressive moment given how packed the restaurant was. Dining here is like dining in the city on the weekends, with a majority of the crowd tending toward older groups of friends or families without children. There was one family of four who brought their child with them, but generally we saw couples and groups of friends. Dress seems standardly smart casual. Food: The menu here is organized into three sections: small plates, mid-size meals, and entree-sized portions. Keep in mind the mid-sized plates can be on the larger side, so the tapas-style menu can be deceiving. We ordered the steak and frites and branzino as our mains, with polenta fries on the side. For apps, we ordered the butternut squash ravioli and were greeted with complimentary cheesy biscuits to start. We finished our meal with the olive oil cake, covered in raspberries. Based on what we ordered, we'd give this place a 4/5, simply because the steak my husband ordered was a tiny bit tough and overcooked (ordered medium rare, received medium well). The cut was a strip or a ribeye, so unfortunately on the tougher side, and less flavorful. My fish was nicely seared but the cannellini beans that were paired with the branzino just didn't do it for me. Branzino is a white fish that tolerates spice and garnishes very well, so it could have benefited from some more complex flavors. That said, we will be back for the ravioli. I'd wager that it is the best thing on the winter menu (this place rotates menu selections somewhat frequently). It was creamy, complex, and soft, with a delicious umami sauce. The olive oil cake we shared for dessert was also very delicious, moist and well-paired with simple cream and berries. Nice and simple but did the trick without being overwhelming or cloyingly sweet. The biscuits are also a nice touch: soft and buttery, not dry, and baked fresh. Overall, I'd say that veggie and pasta dishes are the way to go here, and potentially the fish if it is paired with a more complex side in the future. We look forward to future menus!
