DQ ice cream is my favorite this store is lovely and I have never had bad service would recommend coming here

I didn't give 4 stars because the service at this location is hit or miss. I stopped by on Tuesday, 03-19-24 to enjoy a free cone. There was a line, but I didn't have to wait too long. Another time I dropped in thinking I'd try something that was advertised on TV only to find out it wasn't available at this location. A young Black male was serving me when I ordered a hot dog, Lay's chips, & a blizzard. I was given my blizzard and a bag. I got to the car & noticed only the hot dog was in the bag. I went back in & said I didn't get my chips. He said, "Lay's, right?" and tossed the bag of chips on the counter. Not the best way to recover from an error. read more

This location had everything running the way it should be. Fast service and polite people behind the counter. I hadn't been here in a number of years but things are the way I remember them at Matthews Township. There was nothing resembling those older negative reviews during my visit tonight. read more

Sooooo, as a classic staple I love DQ ice cream, especially the blizzards. However, tonight we walked into a battle between employees and apparently someone was being accused of something they didn't agree with. This location is run by a bunch of kids who seem to think it's funny when they close 15 minutes prior to the posted closing time, and laugh as people come up to a locked door and just turn their noses up at potential customers....... I don't think I will visit this location anymore. Besides an Andy's frozen custard opened up near by and it's much better and they don't shun customers..... read more

Will never go back. One of the most rude and unfriendly employees I have ever met. When my wife asked if there is a manager, the girl replied, no what's the issue. My wife said that she was very rude, and this employees response was get the f... out. My wife was shocked and asked what did you say and she repeated get the f... out. read more

One star is too much actually, got a to go order, was given my cup to make my drink and by the time i made my drink and sat down to wait, a new employee behind the counter just said a number 2 out loud, my ticket was 55, when i asked if it was my order she never answered but looked at me like i was stupid and them when my small blizzard needed a lid she gave me a coke lid, when i asked for a domed lid she informed me it would be 2 dollars for it, all i can say is thanks to her I will never go to another one of their restaurants again, so pat yourself on the back Dairy Queen another lost customer read more

I had been working all day and was eager to take my wife and one-year old to get some ice cream. I had gotten off work after 9PM and was happy to find a Diary Queen nearby that stayed open until 10PM. My wife, daughter, and I went into the store together. I headed to the restroom upon entering, and my girls waited for me, examining the menu. When I came out (it was around 9:50), my wife informed me that the employees had been whining and complaining about our arrival. Upon finding out this information, I informed the workers that this was a "bum Dairy Queen" and that we would be going to Jeni's in the South Park area (which is open until 11:30, has much friendlier staff, and has much better ice cream). They laughed at us as we walked out and said something about "Oh, he's mad!" The people working at that Dairy Queen that night (Saturday, July 16, 9:50 PM) were disgusting humans. Imagine your wife and baby standing there as innocent patrons while the slobs behind the counter berate your family for being in their dreadful presence. Why were these workers so eager for us to leave? Did they want all the ice cream to themselves or something? I imagine they started drinking from the ice cream machine when we left, happy that their nasty attitudes had driven us away. *Gulp* *Gulp* *Wipes ice cream drippings from face with hand* "Glad we got those people out of here. Always quick and efficient and decent ice cream. Great cakes, and well decorated. The place can get busy sometimes but goes pretty quick. Some seating inside and couple benches outside. Staff are friendly 'most' of the time --it depends who is serving you. Sometimes nice and friendly, often pretty aggravated that they're serving you. Nevertheless --ice cream is always good, right? Easy parking up front, and located inside a plaza which is easy in and out from main entrances and freeway. read more

Stopped in after a soccer game. Service was fast, employees were polite. Line moves fast.

This was the second or third time we visited the DQ in Matthew NC and have now decided not to ever go to this location again. the staff are unfriendly and more engaged in looking at their cell phones than servicing customers. They are rude and all need to be fired...store is always dirty and nasty. The chocolate ice cream machine has been broken now for three weeks, and they had no idea when it would be fixed. Our server did NOT have a mask on today! She was wearing it around her chin. I was with a small group and it was hard to see that she was not wearing a mask until the transaction was over! Plus there was a customer ordering who did not have a mask and no one asked him to put one on. They are not enforcing safe practices in this store and I would be VERY cautious about visiting until they figure out how to serve the public safely. read more

I ordered a single chili cheese dog with mustard and onion and 2 blizzards. The blizzards were perfect - thick and just the right amount of add-ins. The hot dog, on the other hand, was just that - no chili, no cheese. I'm not sure where the disconnect was, but a chili cheese dog without the chili or cheese seems far too naked for my liking. Miscommunication is a think and I try not to be too harsh as the hot dog was hot and okay for a fairly plain hot dog. Had we been in the area when I opened the package I would have simply returned it for the correct order. I would return again - but I would check my order before I left the store. read more

Tonight was the second time they've screwed up our order by not putting the correct mix-ins in the blizzards, leaving out one of the mix-ins, or the candy they do put in seems like just crumbs. In addition, the workers just seem kind of annoyed to have customers. This is the worst DQ we've ever been to. read more

I went here one day for dessert after lunch and there was only one person in line but it seems like I waited forever. There were two people working but it was like they were moving in slow motion, you can especially expect the service to be slow if people order hot foods because that seems to be made to order. The vanilla cone didn't look like it usually does but it was still very good and I enjoyed it. read more

I am almost 40 and have been getting ice cream cakes for my birthday for as long as I can remember. I now get to continue the tradition with my own children. We get ice cream cakes not only for birthdays but for any special event that we celebrate and holidays. Recently ordered a sheet cake for my daughters 4th birthday and I attached some pictures of other Dairy Queen cakes I found online for inspiration. When I picked up the cake I couldn't believe how beautiful it turned out!! Thank you to DQ for making the most beautiful mermaid cake, my daughter loved it! I have never had a bad experience at this dairy queen until today. The staff was so rude that I was in shock. I asked for a minute to look at the menu because I didn't know what I wanted, there was no one else in line. I was with a friend who saw some old friends and was talking to them behind me, they had already ordered and gotten their ice cream. The person taking my order said to me in a very harsh tone " Can someone order already" not even five seconds after I asked for a minute to look at the menu with no one else in line. I stepped away to grab napkins after I ordered l, so my friend asked if this was my order when they handed it to him. The lady that made it ( a different person) said " Well I don't know somebody ordered it" in a very rude way. Don't waste your money here, your better off taking your chances at McDonalds. read more

I order a Strawberry NY cheesecake but the Strawberry came outside and there's no strawberry inside. I am really disappointed. There's no cheesecake just ice-cream and crackers. read more

I always drive by this Dairy Queen and see the long line inside of it - It's just a small location (end-cap of a strip mall) and it doesn't help that the parking lot is crazy busy with Harris Teeter traffic. The staff (mostly still in high school, etc) are friendly enough and do their best to handle the crowds. It looks like the store was recently renovated to update the counters, tables, and chairs. I do like the 'mini' blizzard they added to the menu. On this recent trip to DQ, I got a mint oreo medium and it was plenty enough to give me a stomach ache after eating it. Oh... hellz no I won't let a good blizzard go to waste regardless of my stomach issues! read more

Dairy Queen is usually our go to place. We went to the Matthews NC location this evening. My wife is recovering from cancer. We were wearing masks due to Covid, as were some other people waiting to get inside and social distancing. As we got closer we were able to see the 2 employees inside both wearing masks, but neither were wearing gloves, nor were they washing hands between customers. Needless to say we left. Someone needs to get this fixed. If they are not required to be wearing gloves they certainly should be. We are trying to support local businesses. In this case the Dairy Queen franchisee is not protecting the customers. read more

I was verbally attacked by all the girls behind the counter because they got my order wrong and I wanted my money back. They cursed me out, acted like they were going to come around the counter and beat me up. Everyone cleared out except one kind family that took video of how they were acting. When we walked in the two girls working had their backs turned to us and were talking. After several moments of us standing there they turned around and asked what we wanted. My toddler said she wanted a vanilla ice cream with m&ms. The one girl said to my toddler that they don't have that with the biggest attitude and said they had a blizzard with m&ms mixed in. Same thing, no reason for the correction or the attitude. They treated us like we were the biggest inconvenience and continued their conversation during this entire transaction. This is the worst costumer service that I have ever witnessed. I love Dairy Queen and have visited this location multiple times. Now, while they as a business have never had the best customer service, I was always able to peacefully buy my ice cream and leave. This experience however, was everything but peaceful. I walk into the store and order a butterscotch dipped cone with extra butterscotch (as I normally do) while the women rang me up another worker- with the raunchiest lashes might I add, prepared my ice cream. She used a plastic spoon instead of the normal ladle so the was only a small drizzle of butterscotch. Now we all know that the butterscotch is the best part, so as she was about to hand it to me I say, "hey, I'm sorry to bother but could you please add a bit more? I asked for extra." I always feel bad asking for things at fast food places so when she rolled her eyes at me, I was extremely disappointed. She said nothing in response to me and only glared my direction while she added a small amount of butterscotch to the cup. When she handed it to me for the last time she glared and silently walked away. I cannot express the shear amount of disappointment and disrespect that I felt during my stop today. She made me feel like such a burden and a bother during this visit, two things a paying customer should never feel. I will not be back. read more

This DQ stays pretty busy, but if you see a line to the door, don't let that stop you from going in. The friendly staff keeps the line moving quickly. I've had the cakes, ice cream, and $5 lunch deal, all are great! Love stopping here! read more

I love Dairy Queen. I grew up next to one that closed n the winter. Until I moved away then it became a full Blazer. This one is not that one. Same great ice milk. You know it's not ice cream, don't you? And they do offer micro-food, hotdogs BBQ and such. And it's is in need of a makeover. Still, it's a Dairy Queen and it's the best. read more

I visited the store with my 2 year old grandson at 1058, as soon as I opened the door I was treated with a "we not open yet" with a very bad attitude. I get that the store starts serving at 11 but wow... I left and visited rack room next door and as we were walking back to Dairy Queen another customer with her two teen age sons had negative comments about the attitudes with the employees as well.
