Because Hawaii no longer has a dollar store, Daiso is the next best thing! And yes, when I visit SF it takes me 3 visits to Daiso to feel completely satisfied with checking off my shopping lists. Normally, I ship about 3-5 large USPS boxes back home. I shop for my kids, my house, myself and my girlfriends. I love that almost everything in the entire store is $1.50. Some items are $2.00-6.00. Be careful. You can walk out with 3 baskets full and a easy bill of $100+ It seems like they get shipments almost daily. I went there 3 days in a row and every day the employees were unpacking new shipments in the aisles. Mornings or early afternoons are quiet and best time to shop. Late afternoons and weekends are really packed. The lines can be a wait. Tip: Bring your own shopping bags or you can buy bags there to filler up. Tons of street parking near by and tons of eating places in Japan town to feed you as you probably will be hungry from spending hours and hours of roaming their aisles. read more

4/5 STARS AM I IN JAPAN? This is the best Daiso I have been to & I will do my best to come here more often. As I walked through the store, I seriously wanted to buy everything!!!!! They have everything you are looking for, plus everything you didn't think you needed but then ended up needing, things you totally don't need but are too cute to say no to, things that you never saw before, things you already have but its so cheap so you need more, things that you currently have but the Daiso version has a printed face on it so you need a new one, things for your room, your office, your kitchen, your bathroom, your car, things to start a new hobby or to play game. They got everything, even food and drinks! Walking through this spacious and large store, you fill your basket so quickly with unnecessary things, but you tell yourself, "its only $1.50 each" 3 baskets later your at over $100. As I shop here I am already building a new shopping list of my next visit. Just writing this review is reminding me of what I needed to get for my new office. This Daiso is so awesome. Whenever I see a Daiso store, I have to check it out! There are lots of cute and useful items for $1.50!! They also have some items for a little more or less than $1.50 but the actual prices are clearly marked. This location is pretty well organized with sections for stationary, kitchenware (I bought a few silicone cooking/baking utensils), snacks, toys, gifts, etc. Make sure to bring a shopping bag to avoid paying the bag tax. After having lunch in Japantown, it was time for a trip to Daiso, the store of Asian knick-knacks. Compared to the Alameda and Downtown SF stores, this is a "flagship" sized store that has many items that the other smaller stores don't carry. The products are Asian made and are mainly $1.50 each. But some items are $.50 to $3.00 more. Products include housewares, kitchen products, office supplies, clothing items, toys, gardening items, and food items. This place is amazing! It's SO large, colorful, neat, and has so many items. The best thing is that all the items are $1.50 unless otherwise noted. My favorite items were the adorable storage boxes, small bags that are ideal for kids, and the home items that are ridiculously cute. Hello, they have an entire section of bowls, plates, etc. I live on the east coast so I couldn't get them, but you know YOU want to. Love Daiso and try to go every time I am near a store. This one is located in Japantown and is a decent size. Overall a great selection of items including garden items. On this visit they had a variety of hello kitty merchandise which for $1.50 I would definitely stock up on. Some of the home goods in the back seems to be more sparse. This is the Japanese version of the dollar store, only much cuter and slightly classier. I have only been to the small location on Telegraph Ave. in Berkeley, but this Japantown location blows my mind! The variety of products is so diverse here (kitchenware, school supplies, clothing, shoes, decorations, bathroom items, food & drinks galore!). I haven't fully explored the beauty section, but I was admiring their selection of false lashes ($1.50 / pair is a steal). A great place to buy random things for a cheap price! Everything is $1.50. There is practically everything you need here ranging from plates to makeup. I bought an eyebrow pencil for $1.50 that worked better than my $24 Anastasia brow pen from Sephora. It's crazy! I also like to bake so I bought some measuring cups and remikans that worked like a charm. No cracks or stains. Still surviving like a champ! Another recent find that I'm excited about Is the pair of gloves that works on the touch screen of your cell phone/tablet. So now... I can keep my hands warm AND use my phone at the same time! They have a few cool things here but it is like an asian version of Dollar Tree, so I have to question the quality. They have a few cool things though. However, I didn't buy anything. Cheap goods at cheap prices! Who doesn't love Daiso?! I love love love coming here whenever I'm in J-town. They have really cute and unusual items for sale here. I always question "What the heck is this?!" on a lot of their household items mainly because everything is labeled in Japanese and they are items you don't see at your local house ware store. They have everything from make up products, pet items, household items to gift wrapping! Unless there is a price tag marked on the item; everything here is pretty much for $1.50. Don't forget to bring your own bag(s) for your purchased items or else it's a charge of $0.20 per paper bag. To my surprise I bought a headset for my smart phone and it has not fallen apart yet. It is actually good quality and I got it for just a $1.50. Most items here are $1.50. But as you get into candies or larger items, they may go little higher. But it still affordable and the products here are very cute and also different. Love it here. Daiso is located in Japantown and takes up two store spaces. It is huge. You have to walk slowly through the aisles to be able to see everything and even then you'll probably miss stuff and want to go through the aisles again. I love Daiso because almost everything is $1.50. Which, unfortunately, means I always spend more than I want because I grab everything. They have everything here. Near the door, they have various Christmas related items including ornaments and Santa suits. They have a lot of stationary items such as pens, pencils, erasers. They have arts and crafts items, bathroom related items, kitchen related items, laundry related items, storage items, and well, a lot more. You can probably find whatever you're looking for here. I was searching for baking supplies and I love their selections. I ended up buying cooking brushes, pie tins, muffin cups. If you're looking for something cheap and you don't really mind the quality, I definitely recommend coming here to see if you can find the items before searching other places. Recently discover this place while visiting San Fran this past weekend. Most of the items being sold are $1.50, it is like an upscale 99 cent store, selling better items. There is just so many little things to look at, I can spend hours in here. On the day I went, the place was super packed and worst part of all it got super hot in there as well. I bought a bunch of little containers and bottles, easy to use/fill lotion dispensers, perfect for traveling. For traveling, I always use small containers for earrings/necklaces. So, there little beauty/travel aisle was heaven! They also have a lot of cute hair clips and hair bands as well. Fake eyelashes, eyelash glue, mirror, makeup bag, also brushes. I am pretty much naming all the things I bought from this place. On the left side, before the register, there was a lot of yummy japanese snacks and drinks. If I can offer you one advice at Daiso, refrain from picking up a basket right away. You will inadvertently spend way too much on all the little chachkis you don't need. It is a fun store to grab fun things that weren't on your list though. Think of it as a large-format dollar-ish store offering all kinds of random. On this most recent trip I abstained from random kitchen utensils and cutlery and walked out of the store with home fragrances, socks, green tea, and some sweet potato cookies. This is an interesting store in Japantown! Most items here are $1.50, although there are a few items that are $2.50+ and a few items that are as cheap as $0.99! I've seen most of the snack items they sell here at other Asian supermarkets, such as 99 Ranch or Mitsuwa in SoCal. They recently just opened one up back home in NYC but that was a huge disappointment, it was nothing like the real thing. Daiso is a family friendly store that manufacturers its own products. What is amazing about Daiso? Almost everything in Daiso is for sale at a mere $1.5. What do they have? Milk steamer, non stick pans, adorable stationary that you didn't know you wanted, makeup, sunglasses, sandals, drinks, Japanese snacks and more! What about the quality? For a $1.5- would you expect it be Walmart-esque? Why- yes. I would expect products to disintegrate like a fifty year old stack of newspapers but amazingly enough- the products have taken the abuse of being thrown around in a suitcase traveling across the country. One month and still going strong. No metal chips in my food yet. If Daiso was a person, I would hug it. This store sells an assortment of knick knacks, useful household items, and Japanese snacks. I absolutely lovee the false eyelashes they sell here; they stock a wide variety of lashes. Best part? Since the lashes are Japanese brands they`re made to fit Asian eyes, which means I don`t have to go through the hassle of trimming them down to fit like some other brands. The eyelash glue they sell is superb as well! It keeps my lashes firmly glued to my eyes all night from when I glue them on at 9:00PM until I rip them off when I get home from partying at 7AM!
