I love Daisy's. It's a go-to store for a new piece of clothing (I have several from here that I wear all the time) or a gift item. The owner has a real eye for artistic items. I totally appreciated how cautious they have handled the pandemic as well. I stopped going to the mall in 2019 and I don't miss it. It's not all sunshine and daisies if you encounter the manager. The store is very cute, but filled with overpriced merchandise and managed by a woman who has no sense of people skills nor decorum whatsoever. This review is about my most recent visit- today around 6pm. My mother, teenaged brother and sister, and I decided to take a look around the store. From the previous reviews, I'm going to assume we were also greeted by the same surly woman. At first she was very inviting, answering questions I had regarding their selection of Tocca perfume. My mother and sister perused the back of the store, ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the cute assortment of home decor and other feminine frills while I stayed in the front trying to decide what perfume I wanted. It was then that I began to feel uncomfortable from the pointed stares the manager gave me. This made me leave the perfume display to join my mother and sister in the back. In the back there is a shelf of discounted items, my sister and I LOVE a great deal, and were checking out every item on the shelf. Meanwhile my mother was trying to get the manager's attention to ask about an item, when she (my mother) noticed the manager whisper to a sales associate. My mother then saw the sales associate walk to the back of the store, and more so, to where my sister and I were. And I will say this-- when the sales associate squeezed her way past my sister and I to go into some random door behind us-- I did feel uncomfortable again. As if the sales associate was trying to catch us stealing. My mother wanted to leave immediately, and as we were being checked out by the manager, the manager looked surprised that my mother was actually buying the Mint perfume. During the purchase, I asked if there was a tester bottle for the Tocca Florence, to which the woman rudely replied that no they don't. As if I was giving her a hard time. There were also other customers in the store, to whom the manager was not rude to at all. This is a personal note to that woman: Don't make customers feel uncomfortable. Yes, we were in the store for a very long time. Yes, my sister and I stayed at the back of the store and opened boxes and bottles to smell the sale items. Yes, I did look you in the eye from across the room when I felt your beady little eyes on me. But this doesn't mean we were planning to steal. Have respect for your patrons. We are who supplement your paycheck and keep your store afloat. With that said, you have lost two customers who were willing to buy everything in your store. read more

12 o'clock, 5/30/10: I asked the sales person what was playing on their sound system. I tried to have a pleasant conversation about it, and it was met with this snarky reply: "Well I suppose we could be intelligent about it and google what song it is." That's new. I've never had a cashier imply that I was a simpleton before. What's up with that? Maybe having to work long hours of retail on a Sunday is too hard for this lady. Maybe its because I'm a guy and she thinks I don't belong in her store. Maybe her disdain for her customers is leaking. Either way, I put down the cookbook that I was about to buy and left. At first the atmosphere is inviting, chic and relaxing so we decided to walk in. We walked over to the nail polish section and were just looking at the colors and names that were labeled on the bottom of the bottles. One of the workers comes over with a stern look that is not welcoming. We proceed to the other parts of the store and that employee follows us the entire time. The owner was soooooo mean to me. I was walking by the store and wanted to inquire about invitations for my wedding when I asked a friendly girl in the store if they had invitations. She said to ask the owner. So, I waited for the owner to SLOWLY help the customer in front of me. Then when I tried to explain that I had never researched invitations before, and that I was coming to her store because I needed personalized service, she just handed me a book and then scoffed when I asked her for general prices. She could not give me an answer which I understand, but some general prices would have been nice before I wasted my time looking at the invitation book. When I explained that I was probably going to do some research online, she said that I should call the online people then! I gave her the stink eye and the best attitude I could... but I am a really nice person so I do not usually give attitude. She was so MEAN and I would never ever go there or recommend her over-priced store to anyone. I love this shop! Everyone is friendly and I spent a whole hour just looking at all of the little and larger treasures! I bought lotion, a hand carved owl fabric stamp!! Great inspirational sayings on eucalyptus green cardstock! Wonderful whimsical keychains! The clerks are delightfully friendly SO helpful! I enjoyed myself so much!!! I love this store and buy way too much stuff, but it makes such good gifts! And am I to be blamed for picking up a few things for myself?! Prices are actually pretty reasonable on most things too; most spots capitalize on the popularity of this particular style of decor and get the same "French Antiques" (made 6 months ago in China) and charge way more, especially some of the similar shops in San Francisco. Was I hugged and loved and massaged while I made my purchase? No. I don't remember the woman being particularly friendly, but I certainly don't remember her being rude either. I was on Park Street today, having gone to the Post Office and was sauntering on home before I thought I would check out the earrings in Daisy's. Bad idea. I went and was looking at their selection of earrings when the sour-faced owner confronted me with "may I help you" in a very unhelpful tone and I said this I was just looking. She went on to say that she remembered me speaking to her in a very unfriendly manner a while ago and I told her she was mistaken. She came back at me to say I had once accused her of "staring at me". I am pretty sure I did not use the word "staring" - probably said I wanted to keep looking and didn't need help. What she was really doing regarding the time she is referring to is shadowing me. A very uncomfortable feeling while browsing. Whatever happened to the kindly gentleman who was there just a few years ago. He was very pleasant and welcoming. This woman is angry, she dislikes her customers, she's rude and very unpleasant. I once before said I would never go back there again and, this time, I am sure I will never go back again. read more

This store is full of adorable things. And, from reading the other reviews, I'm guessing that I've been in there only when the owner WASN'T around, because my customer service experiences have been amazing both times I've been in there. In fact, both times I went in with my mom and sister who were visiting me from Ohio. The saleswoman greeted us cheerfully and told us to let her know if we had any questions. We were probably there a good hour both times, and occasionally she would notice what we were looking at, and then give us some suggestions about it or something similar. My sister bought a cute tic tac toe thingy and my mom bought some picture frames; for both purchases, the woman offered to check inventory and make sure that they both had the best quality item in stock. When my sister mentioned that she hoped her purchase wouldn't get scratched on the flight back home, the woman even went out of her way to package it extremely well to keep it safe. She was very friendly and cheerful and personable, even the first time when we didn't buy anything. I'm only giving it three out of five because the prices are just sooo ridiculously high. My mom wanted to buy me something from there and I just couldn't let her, it was too pricey. I LOVE everything in there, but if they chopped a good third off the prices, it'd be a lot more reasonable, in my opinion. read more

Super cute and high quality finds that you would have to trek to Berkeley or SF for! I used to work at their sister coffee, tea and bakery shop, Jay's, and I was lucky enough to hear about all of the fun plans the owner had for Daisy's. If you ever saw Jay's, you'd know that she definitely would do it up for Daisy's! Yeah, the prices are steep for Alameda but there are definitely some awesome trinkets, cards, candles, soaps and other goodies to shell out a few bucks for :) just a personal note: check out the website... she even used a few of my illustrations! This is a really cute store with some great quality products for a gift, for yourself or your home. The fragrances are pretty nice and the jewelry is on trend, and very nice. I like that they sell Butter London nail polish, because I can buy it locally and support a small business instead of supporting a major beauty chain. They even have a few Kate Spade odds and ends, and this is the only place I've been able to find a good variety of Washi tape for my crafting. They also have a good variety of cards for gifts, and supplies for party throwing. I've never encountered the rudeness of the staff that people seem to be complaining about, and I'm pretty about customer service. Everyone is pretty friendly, and no, they don't bend over backwards to help you, but they also don't pressure you either, so that's not a problem. I've never felt like I'm being watched either. However, people need to learn that for small businesses, shoplifting can negatively impact them more so than large ones, so employees do have to remain alert, and its best not to take that personally. They're not doing that because they think you're a trashy person who likes to steal, they are doing it because its their job. Of course, someone who has never worked in retail wouldn't understand that. There is one sales girl who does not seem to know what she's doing, or speak English all to well, but she's the only one, and I would not call her rude. read more

Every single item is so unique in its own vintage artsy fartsy way. I want my house to look like this store. This is a beautiful store and I love stopping buy to see what new things they have. I've purchased a few goodies in the past but the customer service is lack luster. I do appreciate the young ladies that pay attention to customers coming in and greeting upon entering. My issue is with the older women who seems to be the owner? She made my shopping experience extremely uncomfortable and she was constantly eyeing me and staring me down like a hawk. I've crossed paths with her multiple times throughout the store and not one time did she acknowledge me as a customer. She just STARED with a rude smug on her face. After crossing paths with her multiple times and seeing how she was treating me I just left. I don't understand how such a women can keep a business running with that kind of behavior. I had the unfortunate experience of witnessing the owner of this store berate a young employee in front of me, the only customer in the store. While I witnessed this, she confirmed that indeed she was the owner, to which I replied, "you should never treat an employee like that, especially in front of a customer". She then tried to justify her abusive scolding, when I told her I was just making a suggestion, for what it's worth. As I turned to leave, she shouted in a sarcastic voice, "have a nice day!" WILL NEVER SHOP THERE AGAIN. I hope the poor young woman finds a better, more supportive environment to learn about the world of work and considers looking elsewhere. read more

I have been meaning to write a review for some months now but as life would have it, something always came up. I am a native Alamedan and when I came across this store I was delighted. At first glance, it was reminiscent of The Wolf and The Hare which was located in Harbor Bay. I was a huge fan of The Wolf and The Hare and was a frequent shopper there. I especially loved the Votivo line that they carried and was tickled when I saw that Daisy's had similar items. I have been in the shop 2 times. Let me be clear that it is charming, frilly and altogether lovely in appearance. The owner has done a wonderful job of stocking the store with beautiful knick knacks and baubles. However on both occasions that I entered the store, the woman behind the counter was exceedingly rude and dismissive. Alameda is a family town and on one occasion, I brought my 6 year old son with me. Now I realize that most parents believe their children to be the most well mannered child to ever exist, but believe me when I say that my son truly is respectful and courteous. You can read my other reviews and you can see how important these traits are to both my husband and I and we often rewarded for our diligence by complete strangers stopping to tell us how well mannered our son is. Having said that, when I brought my son into the store I had a specific gift in mind and I asked him to please have a seat in the nifty armchair that someone else mentioned in a review. We were not in the store more than 3 minutes when the woman behind the counter, whom I later learned was the owner herself (I have since also learned that the owner's 2 employees are very sweet and helpful) began to complain to my son about mussing the pillows on the chair and not to touch things. Because I am not a parent who ignores when my son may be misbehaving, I immediately went to investigate. Once I ascertained that he wasnt being rowdy, I asked him to give me 5 minutes and to please just sit quietly with his hands in his lap. I was at the counter waiting to pay when the woman again asked him not muss the pillows because they for sale. My son was in my line of sight the entire time. He was not touching anything and was simply rocking himself back and forth in the chair. Mind you, this was not a violent rocking that could have squished the pillows but a gentle rocking similar to a child putting himself to sleep. Needless to say, I left my purchases on the counter and walked out. Again, as a native Alamedan, I am used to family friendly shops and stores because essentially, Alameda is a wonderful family town. But from my experience, this shop is not only not child friendly, I felt discouraged from shopping there BECAUSE I had a child. Maybe the woman was having a bad day, or maybe she has had bad experiences with other children in her store. Now, I am a big believer in supporting your local community. But someone needs to tell this owner to be careful of biting the hand that feeds her. read more
