I got the best pedicure here I've ever had. Molly (I think that was her name?) was incredibly thorough. She took her time and did an excellent job even though I had a Groupon. When I said how good the foot scrub felt, she spent extra time scrubbing the hell out of my feet, which I very much appreciated. I was also extremely pleased with my manicure. My nails didn't chip for days and days. The interior of the salon is fairly bare bones. I'm not sure if it's actually a "green" salon but it felt that way. It has a serene and earthy vibe to it. If you're looking for posh glamour, this is not the place. But if you like your salon a little more down to earth, Huma is for you. I will definitely be back! read more

I come here for my threading needs. Living in Logan Square, being new to Chicago, and car-less, I don't have that many options or much knowledge about where to go. This place is super convenient, has good hours, and is a quick walk from the Western blue line. Every time I've been here, I've been able to be seen right away as a walk in. I don't feel rush, but they also do a quick and efficient job. They trim as well, which to me is a sign of a good thread shop. They have a frequent visitor card that gets stamped. I haven't filled mine but I think you get a free visit or something once it gets filled.They take credit card and the prices are super reasonable. I think it's about 15 bucks total with tip for eyebrow and lip. Definitely a good spot to hit up for threading needs if you're in the area. read more

I just got my eyebrows and lips done by the older skinny woman I've never seen before. This place is such a hit or miss. Sometimes they do an amazing job and days like today can be such a disappointment. I would rather have someone tell me to come back another day when they feel like working than for her to do my eyebrows half ass. Now I have to go home and tweeze all the hair left. This was my first time visiting Huma. When I walked in, it was really busy, but the staff were very friendly and so accommodating! I waited about 20 minutes, but after that, I was able to get a pedicure and no chip manicure in less than an hour. For both, it was only $45, which is very reasonable. Clean. Friendly. Attentive. Just moved to the Bucktown neighborhood and came here for an eyebrow threading after coming across their good reviews on Yelp. Called about 15 minutes prior to their closing time and they were okay with me walking in just before closing time (as I live approximately 3 minutes away). Upon walking in, I was greeted and immediately taken care of. First thing I noticed about the place was how clean it was-as I have seen pretty gross places in the past. I must say, I am pretty picky when it comes to those who touch my eyebrows as I have been getting them threaded for about 10 years, but I was desperate and needed a place to tame these things PRONTO. Huma took care of me! She was great! I explained to her exactly how I wanted my brows done, and she had me check them to make sure I liked where she was going before she made any other moves. Have not had any of their services, but highly recommend their eyebrow threading. If you have never had your eyebrows threaded, well I don't know what to tell you other than you need to drop the wax and the tweezers and get with the program! I walked in and the lady greeted me rather coldly, sat me down, and started threading my eyebrows really fast. She was rushing so much it felt like she was attacking my face! At the time I thought "whatever, she knows what she's doing and she's getting it done faster". But she did a terrible job! She missed a bunch of hairs and barely spent 30 seconds on each brow. Now I have to clean them up myself or go to another place to get them re-done. I do not recommend this salon. read more

I was looking for a new manicure place in my neighborhood and came across all the positive reviews on this site. I walked in around noon on a weekday and they were empty which is not at all surprising. Positive: The women there were, as all the reviews said, friendly and very pleasant to interact with. The prices are very reasonable. Negative: Very limited polish selection. Almost no Essie, which I prefer on my fingernails because it's a little sheerer than OPI. They try hard, but my experience was the shop is very no-frills and maybe a little amateur. I had no-chip polish on when I walked in and rather than applying the chemical remover to each nail and wrapping it in foil, they brought me a bowl of chemical to soak my fingers in. There was no polish drying station. My operator took out a little fan and set it up to dry my nails. The polish they put on (not no-chip) chipped and peeled within a couple of days, which was disappointing. I'm glad I tried it, but I won't be going back soon. read more

I just got a mani/pedi here, recommended by my waxer. Yes, the place is small and no, they don't have the pedicure massage chairs, but for me that's not really a necessity. The girl who did my nails was very friendly (we talked the whole time) and she did a good job! She spent like 15 mins or so massaging my feet with different scrubs (which was great). A mani/pedi is only $32, cheap! I don't get them too often, but I would definitely go back there. They also do eyebrow threading which I'll have to try sometime (just got them done somewhere else). The best place for eyebrow threading. I walked in one day to get my eyebrows waxed until one of the ladies insisted that threading was the way to go. I was skeptical but gave in because she was so friendly and genuine (I wish I could remember her name!). She did an amazing job and I've gone in three times since. I got an eye brow tint, threading and cleansing facial. They were all fantastic! I think Nadia was the name of the woman who helped me. She was extremely friendly and warm. I was worried what the quality of the facial would be as I got the cheapest one..but it was awesome! She took it very seriously. I've gotten facials 8 times the price and did not get the level of facial massage I got with this one. She also steamed my face and did an even better extraction than the one I got at the other facial I mentioned. It was a simple cleansing facial..but thats all I wanted. It seems like if you want more than that they offer it (many other facials besides the cleansing one I got)I will definitely be returning to get my brows tinted & threaded and get occasional facials. Wow! This place is really great. I came in for the no-chip manicure and eye brow threading special with no appointment and was helped right away. My eyebrows were done first and she really listened to my preferences and concerns. While picking out a color, I really couldn't decide on one but she graciously let me try on 5 or 6 different colors with no hesitation. I found out about this salon in the most random way, I was taking a cab home late one night and the cab driver gave me a card and told me I could get 10% off if I took it with me. It turns out the salon is a short walk from my place. I've only done threading/waxing here and have never been disappointed. Each of the ladies is really sweet, quick and good. I've tried some more expensive places in the area (Trim, Sonia Salon) but I would definitely recommend Huma Salon over the rest. read more
