Came to this okay Yorkville bar and grill. Dakota's is one with a country type of theme going for it. It's actually got menu items based on Yellowstone. Get some drinks and fight like the Duttons. The eating isn't bad either, but certainly most of the menu is meaty. Basically it's a loud country bar but it also feels modern to be honest. It's cleaner than one expects and not some dusty and greasy place. There's several TVs good for watching games or whatever. A lot on the menu. There's tons of drinks and some okay food to tell you the truth. It's about $8 for the cheapest cocktails. We got a few of these. Best one was the Pablo's Paloma. This is made with Centranario Plata, grapefruit juice, lime juice, and is topped with grapefruit soda. It's about $17 for the Fresh Baked Bavarian Pretzel. That's a lot, but you get a lot though. Has a lot of burgers. There's also things like steak. Have to make an update about this business. It has closed. They are already about to open another restaurant in the building that will have a similar kind of theme. read more

I'm really sad to be writing this review. My boyfriend and I were really excited about this place. I'll start by saying the service was amazing. Our servers were so sweet and personable. The employees had nothing to do with my bad experience. We started with the street corn dip and some beer. The street corn dip wasn't anything remarkably good or remarkably bad. The beer list only had fruity or pale/light beer, but they're brand new so I'll give them a pass on that. As someone who is typically easygoing and forgiving, it's pretty surprising that the entrees actually angered me. I ordered the cavatappi Mac n cheese. Have you ever had reheated boxed mac n cheese? That's exactly what this tasted like, and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was reheated from the day before. It was insanely dry and the "cheese" was cemented onto the noodles and flavorless. They unsuccessfully tried to save it with some seasoning. To make matters worse, I spent $15 on this "SPECIALTY" entree. (See photo attached. We took it home because my boyfriend will eat anything and I'm not wasting $15) The cheese on my boyfriend's brisket grilled cheese seemed reheated and old too. It was rock hard and glued to the bread. Each of his fries were 25% of a raw potato with a thin breaded layer. I can only assume that the owner/founder of this business is a first-time restaurant owner that was in way over his/her head. I tried my best to make the excuse that they're a new business-- then I thought of 113 Main and Crusades. They were nowhere near as bad when they were new. If you're looking to eat in Yorkville, I would avoid this restaurant and opt for Crusades, Parma, or Burnt Barrel instead. I refuse to argue or complain to the people that had nothing to do with the mistakes this restaurant made, so we paid our bill and left peacefully. But we will never eat or pay here again. You've already lost us as customers, but if you're looking to keep your future ones, the Dakotas leadership needs to make a change. read more

My friends and I wanted to try a new place for brunch and I recommended we give Dakotas a try. I had just seen pics on Facebook and their brunch looked good. We got there fairly early and it was not busy at all. Really thought the inside was cool. Loved the bar area and the motorcycle. We were kinda puzzled by the Spanish lady statue at the front. Doesn't fit with the rest of the decor. We ordered mimosas to start with. I think I ordered the pear one and it was ok. To eat I ordered the chilaquiles. I have to say that my dish was just ok. I found a hair, that was definitely not mine, in my food and that kind of turned me off. Also, our server was clearly very inexperienced. When it was time to pay for the check we told him how to split it three ways. He was very confused and someone came from the back to "help him out". I really wanted to love this place and I will probably give them another chance but my first impression was a very under whelming one. I can deal with an inexperienced server but the hair???? Worst $18 sandwich ever - Jesse James shaved steak on a roll with melted cheese. The meat was on the grill until it was crispy. Super crispy. Then probably flipped over and cooked the side with the cheese so meat pieces were very dry and crispy like a badly made Philly cheesesteak. Friend got a brisket sandwich. Her meat was the same - didn't look like brisket and like mine way crispy. Basket of waffle fries also had tots and regular fries and they were cold and hard. I should have sent the food back. Brought home most of my sandwich for my husband and he wouldn't eat it. Just read other reviews - brisket nachos came with shaved steak on them not brisket. Entrance: really cool design with the motorcycle and the bottles of booze when you walk in. The bad part is we waited five minutes for somebody to come greet us for a table. Service: Was very disappointed with our service. The restaurant was completely empty and it took almost 10 minutes for somebody to come over and say hello to us. Ordered our food and we continued to have issues. Food took about 45 minutes to get our food. Our daughter's meal was messed up. We told the gentleman that brought the food to our table and he said I'm not sure about that and walked away. Came here with a group of friends (Moms night out kinda thing) We sat at the bar maybe 20 mins to get a table and had some drinks (Friday night with no reservations however the website allows you to make reservations should you want to). Came with rice (eh) and black beans (tad dry) but I didnt know that so i got an order of the assorted fries (1 regular fry, then tots and waffle fries. Tots ok and waffle fries were soggy). The brisket was great and they give a good chunk of avocado but the boa was a little too small for what they were putting in it. So that was too bad. Came with three. For food it was even worse, they did not have the meatless burger anymore, so my girlfriend ordered the shrimp tacos on the bao buns, and I ordered the ribeye on the bao buns, only to find out they did not have the bao buns, so we went with flour tortillas.... To find out they did not have those either so we settled with corn tortillas. As my girlfriend was eating her shrimp tacos she spit out a plastic tie from a bread or taco bag. And my ribeye tacos had more fat that meat on them. Rice had no flavor and the black beans were literally beans out of the can and sprinkled with cheese. I'm just up for the weekend and we tried Dakotas tonight with our daughter and son in law that live in the area. They had heard about the place and we decided to give it a try. First it's not a real big place but they've done a great job setting the place up. It's really nice. Second it's a great menu and all the food was really great. We had several appetizers and most of us had the special Montana burger. I honestly can say I've never had such a big burger and it tasted great. And as the special it only cost $7.00. Absolutely amazing. And the last part, our server was great. I wish I had gotten her name to give her the recognition she deserves but enough to say she was really on top of it the whole night. The experience last night was a step below mediocre. The food was awful with the saving Grace being the queso dip. The drinks were good. Stay away from the food and just drink and have queso dip. The burnt end grilled cheese was neither burnt end or grilled cheese but thinly sliced beef and a half a piece of cheese. My sliders were okay but the tomatoes were thicker than the patty or bun. Wanted to give this place another try. The food when it comes out is pretty decent, good sized portions. Not quite worth of Premium they're charging tho in quality. The ambience and restaurant itself is pretty cool. However management and staff legit needs some help. It took almost 35 minutes this time just to get water and our drinks. Two of our entrees took an extra 15 to 20 minutes to get to us while the others ate their food. There was no beer on draft because they said line issues. And half of their cocktails didn't have all the ingredients so they couldn't be made. A little bit frustrating. Poor waitress was a champion and trying to keep up with everything but they were not helping her at all. This place is a hidden gem! My wife got a margarita (was priced well and strong) and a BBQ chicken salad. Let me tell you, that salad was very good and pretty big. I got the Jesse James Steak Hoagie (little on the small end) but it was VERY delicious! I got a whiskey flight and a few old fashions. My favorite old fashion was probably the Piggly wiggly! When we went they had live music and plenty of people having fun. Service was fast, especially for a Saturday night. We had a amazing date night there. It's a bit on the loud side but not too bad. All the advertising in the world can't fix bad food and poor restaurant management. It says a lot that most Yorkville folks won't even go here. Visited on a Friday evening, sat on sticky booths in a nearly empty dining room. Cold, still partially frozen "fresh" food and a single, watered down yet depressingly basic cocktail. The employees seemed as lost and confused about their job as the owner is about spelling and grammar. Seriously, look at their advertisements.
