The famous April special steak sandwich...delicious
    Joan S.

We were just as pleased with the new April steak sandwich special this visit. We also ordered the nachos with added brisket, but they put sliced steak on it ( not a bad thing unless you really want brisket ). The tequila sunrise was fabulous. Service was the best we've had.

$15 dry, reheated mac n cheese.

I'm really sad to be writing this review. My boyfriend and I were really excited about this place. I'll start by saying the service was amazing. Our servers were so sweet and personable. The employees had nothing to do with my bad experience. We started with the street corn dip and some beer. The street corn dip wasn't anything remarkably good or remarkably bad. The beer list only had fruity or pale/light beer, but they're brand new so I'll give them a pass on that. As someone who is typically easygoing and forgiving, it's pretty surprising that the entrees actually angered me. I ordered the cavatappi Mac n cheese. Have you ever had reheated boxed mac n cheese? That's exactly what this tasted like, and I wouldn't be surprised if it actually was reheated from the day before. It was insanely dry and the "cheese" was cemented onto the noodles and flavorless. They unsuccessfully tried to save it with some seasoning. To make matters worse, I spent $15 on this "SPECIALTY" entree. (See photo attached. We took it home because my boyfriend will eat anything and I'm not wasting $15) The cheese on my boyfriend's brisket grilled cheese seemed reheated and old too. It was rock hard and glued to the bread. Each of his fries were 25% of a raw potato with a thin breaded layer. I can only assume that the owner/founder of this business is a first-time restaurant owner that was in way over his/her head. I tried my best to make the excuse that they're a new business-- then I thought of 113 Main and Crusades. They were nowhere near as bad when they were new. If you're looking to eat in Yorkville, I would avoid this restaurant and opt for Crusades, Parma, or Burnt Barrel instead. I refuse to argue or complain to the people that had nothing to do with the mistakes this restaurant made, so we paid our bill and left peacefully. But we will never eat or pay here again. You've already lost us as customers, but if you're looking to keep your future ones, the Dakotas leadership needs to make a change.

O-M-G all I gotta say is Chicken and Waffles! So delicious! And the Prickly pear Margarita! Yum! Can't wait to go back!

Really impressed with this new place. The food and drink menu was really unique and appealing. There should be something for everyone. The decor was trendy and colorful and the service was really good. There is indoor and outdoor seating. I had a slider tower that was quite the show stopper. And a bourbon peach smash with graham cracker crumbs that was delicious.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Entrance: really cool design with the motorcycle and the bottles of booze when you walk in[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]. The bad part is we waited five minutes for somebody to come greet us for a table. Service: Was very disappointed with our service. The restaurant was completely empty and it took almost 10 minutes for somebody to come over and say hello to us. Ordered our food and we continued to have issues. Food took about 45 minutes to get our food. Our daughter's meal was messed up. We told the gentleman that brought the food to our table and he said I'm not sure about that and walked away. Once our server came over, she said no problem, proceeded to take another 20 minutes to get a kids hamburger. Food: The food was decent, but the serving size of the fries was very disappointing. Very small basket only got seven or eight fries in there.

We went here to celebrate Mother's Day , service was very slow!! It took 1 hour for us to get our food. We ordered 3 brisket and sweet potato skillets , they all had different meat ,no sweet potatoes instead had small whole red potatoes. Only one skillet had onions and bell peppers No mushrooms . The other 2 skillets had no veggies. I never got my eggs after telling the waiter that I didn't receive them. My son's pancakes were raw. The only decent food were my pancakes and I could have made them at home. Sorry to say but we will not be returning her

Biscuits and gravy breakfast and coffee

Hands-down, best biscuits and gravy I've ever ordered! The biscuit had a little bit of crisp and crunch. The gravy was made with chorizo and was just a tad sweet. Not too sweet, but sweet enough to be interesting, spicy enough to be delicious! Everything about this breakfast was outstanding!

    New decor. Love it.

Brisket tacos on bao with side if "assorted" fries

Came here with a group of friends (Moms night out kinda thing) We sat at the bar maybe 20 mins to get a table and had some drinks (Friday night with no reservations however the website allows you to make reservations should you want to). I got the Mango cart (good!), friends got the Kountry blackberry basil (3 likes for this though ones at bar were different then the ones received once we were sitting-weird), the watermelon sugar high - drink was good but the purée around the rim was very messy, a little spicy, and my friend said it tasted like it had cocktail sauce in it? We got our table and it took at least another 15 minutes for the waiter to return to get us drinks and then they didnt get to the table for another 15 mins. We all wished we'd grabbed one more before closing out to go to our table. We ordered three appetizers: the giant pretzel (truly is giant and delicious), the deviled eggs flight (all who had this also loved it), and the shrimp (bit spicy I was told, and also disappeared). We wanted to try the cheese curds but they were out.. on a Friday night... Didnt get a picture cuz we ate it all se fast. Dinner- I got the brisket tacos on the bao: very tasty. Came with rice (eh) and black beans (tad dry) but I didnt know that so i got an order of the assorted fries (1 regular fry, then tots and waffle fries. Tots ok and waffle fries were soggy). The brisket was great and they give a good chunk of avocado but the boa was a little too small for what they were putting in it. So that was too bad. Came with three. Picture only shows two because by the time we finally got the food I was too hungry to remember to take a picture first. Two friends got the steak sandwich/hoagie. They both agreed it was lacking in flavor. Another friend got the tacos like i did but on corn shells and had to take one home. Last- two friends shared the grilled cheese. Both Said it didnt seem like much of a grilled cheese and seemed a bit disappointed . Three out of ten cause of so many "eh" responses from the group. Overall ok place. Little pricey for what they give you.

Mike & Denise's is one of several restaurants the owners have around town it seems. For certain this location is the best known. The prices can be kind of high on some things, okay for others. A kind of haphazard setup once you get inside. It's got the entrance where you can choose two ways to go, whether it's eating inside or for pickup. The inside dining area is also kind of hard to get through. Has a patio. There's a good amount of seating. Most people seem to get beers. Pretty expected with these going great with pizzas. It's about $9 for one of their seasonal cocktails. We got a couple including the Lucky Charm. A classic. This is made with coconut, Malibu coconut rum, orange juice, and pineapple juice. It's about $12 to get a personal pizza with a few toppings of your choosing. We got the build your own option. A great option is giardiniera because it's like a few toppings in one to be honest. The pizza has a pretty crispy crust and is great for sharing. Crazy busy because it's one of the best known places in town to go. It's located on Veterans Parkway in the one plaza. They have half off pizzas on Tuesdays.

The other food options they have are tasty as well (try the Philly quesadilla, seriously). LOTS of beer to choose from, and creative cocktails that match the season or holiday. My favorite thing about it though is the atmosphere - it's always a party, but family friendly. The owners are great, they hire lots of local students and support local sports and organizations, and when the Bears pulled off that win over the Packers in the wild card, they were out of town but bought a round for the whole bar! Highly recommend giving this place a try, for a family dinner, a quick drink, a work gathering, anything - and try their other businesses, too! (The Vault and Bristol Tap).

Good if bringing people with varying food preferences. The prices are okay on most things. Big area around the bar, with plenty of seating inside. This has always been one of my favorite spots, so when I decided to bring my family out for a meal, I expected the same great experience I've always had. The food itself was exactly what I've come to expect, delicious. The wings were great, the atmosphere was familiar, and for a while everything seemed fine. Our waitress seemed very nervous from the start. I tried not to think much of it. Maybe she was new, maybe she was having an off day. We even asked about the pickle chips and she didn't realize they were on the menu, which made me think she was still learning the ropes. Then things took a strange turn. At one point during our meal, my daughter took a selfie with her brother while our waitress happened to be nearby speaking with us. Later, I noticed employees looking toward our table and talking among themselves, but I didn't think much of it at the time. Near the end of our visit, a manager, who was incredibly kind and professional, came over to explain the situation. Apparently, our waitress believed my daughter had been taking pictures of her. My daughter was immediately upset and apologetic, even though she had done nothing wrong. To clear up any confusion, she showed us her camera roll. Sure enough, the most recent photo was exactly what she said it was: a selfie of her and her brother. What bothered me wasn't the misunderstanding itself. Mistakes happen. What bothered me was learning that employees had been discussing the situation among themselves and speaking about my daughter before anyone bothered to simply ask what was going on. My daughter ended up in tears because she realized the looks and conversations she'd noticed throughout the restaurant were connected to this misunderstanding. No child deserves to feel embarrassed or singled out over something that could have been resolved with a simple conversation. I want to give credit where it's due: the manager handled the situation with kindness and professionalism, and the food remains some of my favorite around. But the way this situation was handled left a sour taste that no amount of great wings could fix. I've always loved coming here, which makes writing this review disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, my family and I will not be returning.
