Very disappointed with the quality of work from Veteran Air…read more I called Veteran Air before a major cold snap to have our heat pump checked out. Their technician, Jonathan Scholtz, diagnosed a corroded indoor evaporator coil and low system pressure. He also tried to upsell me on replacing the entire unit -- I should have realized that was a warning sign. Instead, they replaced just the coil. I paid the full amount ($3,233.85 after the veteran discount) and hoped that would be the end of it. About five months later, I started noticing the condensate pan overflowing and draining outside the house. I tried clearing the lines myself, but the dripping continued. Since it took Lisa from Veteran Air several hours to respond, I went ahead and called another HVAC company for help. They charged me a $150 on-site visit fee. The other technician was shocked by what he found: when Veteran Air replaced the coil, they never reinstalled the baffles around it and didn't even secure the coil properly in the brackets. There was basically no way for the condensation to drain correctly. He also confirmed the system pressure was still extremely low. The other techs could have fixed it right then, but they didn't want me to be out of pocket for repairs that should be covered under warranty. They recommended I call Veteran Air back to make it right. Here are pictures of what the other HVAC tech saw. I'm really disappointed -- I expected better, especially from a company that serves veterans. I wouldn NOT recommend Veteran Air based on this experience.

We had an emergency. AC is always needed. But this couple I know, he is 84, she is 77, bed ridden…read morewith stage 4 cancer. We first call San Antonio AC, after all, they installed the unit. But, they were not interested in answering any calls at 5 p.m. on a Friday. Matter of fact, they hung up on him, then me, without a word. Like it was a drop call. I couldn't believe it! Above and Beyond fit this couple in! Poor guy was on his last call and ready to go home, yet he still made time to fix this couples ac! My poor friends were in a panic , til this company came in, as friendly as can be, helpful in many ways. Thank you guys!

It's going…read moreto cause a problem when the weather is at its worst and two summers in a row, I've had the same problem despite my best intentions. Above and Beyond to the rescue. I bought my house two springs ago, so the ancient, rattling a/c unit is my problem now and I'm dreading replacing it. Above and Beyond is keeping it spinning, including telling me what the likely next problems are - they were right on target and I needed an emergency repair in July for a fan motor that doesn't believe in two weeks' notice. They were able to call me back during that 10pm holiday weekend panic to let me know when they could get someone to my home, just another service had faster availability for 2am that night. They still continued to follow-up with me after that appointment with another provider to make sure everything was okay and came back for that line service just a few weeks ago. No judgement at all from Above and Beyond on how it was I had forgotten two summers in a row about the vinegar. These guys are timely, communicative, and great on pricing. I have compared their pricing to at least six other local service companies and not only is Above and Beyond better, they are completely transparent on where the costs are coming from.

I have a system that is about a year and a half old. Had a few issues with it not cooling properly…read moreafter the first year and after several visits across 6 months or so, it appears that it was a faulty valve. There are some underlying duct layout inconsistencies in my particular system but the valve issue was found and they are taking care of it. Aside from that, they really do have great service. All the techs have been thorough and pleasant. The owner, Henry, personally came out to look at my system after the ongoing issues and explained everything to me in an easy to understand way. It's clear now that I've chosen the right company to do business with. Last night, I was pissed because my system was having issues. Today, I feel confident that they found the problem and solution. They're making it right. That is how to turn a bad experience into a good one. Will give them 5 stars as soon as everything is up and running and no other issues arise. Service and ownership is rock solid.
