This place is a solid choice for Italian food in Poulsbo with a scenic view and waterfront dining. We ordered the salmon penne, Hood canal Manila clams, oysters and seafood chowder to share and a bottle of prosecco. The chowder is a 10 for me, it was made fresh with big chunks of salmon and a big prawn. I love that it wasn't salty and perfectly seasoned. The salmon penne is another 10 star, it is delicious with seasonal veggies. The service is kind, friendly and attentive. We will definitely return and recommend this Italian restaurant. read more

Such a peaceful atmosphere and wonderful place to watch the world go by. This would be an excellent place to take a date or spend time with good friends. Located in the downtown area of Poulsbo, WA and just across the parking lot from Liberty Bay, this restaurant is in a very nice area of town and the views from the Tableside windows are good. The server we had was super on top of everything and was very well spoken and attentive. He ensured our meal was perfect in every way. I had a bowl of their seafood chowder which was delicious and enjoyed the pictured Chicken Marsala with extra mushrooms. My co-worker enjoyed the crab cakes and some wine. I have saved this place for a subsequent visit to the area and hope to dine here again soon! read more

Finally got a chance to check this place out, and wasn't disappointed. Service was good, the ambiance nice (modern) and they have a good view of the water, albeit across the parking lot. Had lunch here. Excellent service. Our meals were very tasty. I had lasagna (still not as good as my wife's, but good). My wife had the cannelloni which was wonderful! Very light. Not a thick breaded crust like many restaurants make it. We will be going back. One note, they charge 3.5% credit card fee. Service was friendly and efficient , everything else was so-so. My party of 8 all agreed that the dishes were just okay - Uninspired, but not "bad" either. The gnocchi and fettuccini were just plain bland.The mushroom and brie appetizer felt a little thrown together. The interior matched the food - it looked like a place just opening up, but not ready to. Parts of the interior looked like there was little effort to create an appealing experience. An industrial fridge out in the open, random equipment and stacks of cups on an impromptu storage area off to the side. It just felt like a place where management didn't know where to put everything, so it was left on display for the customers. The dress of the staff could be a little less informal as well. It seems like just a few changes would make it much more appealing. If some effort were really made to create an attractive environment, and more attention to upscLing the dishes, this place would become a beacon for repeat customers. I haven't enjoyed Italian food this much in years! Everything was flavorful and fresh.

I'm not sure if we came at a bad time but the service we received was not good. It felt like we were bothering the server just to get drinks. They also actively put out lights for every table EXCEPT ours, and left the picked apart antipasto board when we said we were done, so the table was crowded. We got the antipasto as an app and that was the only good part of our experience. For our mains we did the alfredo and a margherita pizza and we did not like either. The alfredo was actively bad and tasted only like heavy cream. The noodles were falling apart to the point of having to stab them to pick them up. The pizza was pretty bland. Overall very disappointed in the service and food, especially since the interior is so beautiful. read more

If you're expecting anything similar to its predecessor, That's A Some Italian, you'll be sorely disappointed. Wandered in on a Thursday evening with the husband and our 5 year old for dinner. Was greeted and promptly seated; no complaints on the service. We started off with bruschetta as a starter... it's supposed to be a light appetizer but this bruschetta was just doused in olive oil and my stomach just felt heavy after eating only one of these (there were 5 pieces in an order). My husband compared it to basically a ceviche with balsamic instead of lime and covered in olive oil. Not a good start already but the wine I had was decent to wash the taste out. I had the seafood cakes, husband had the fettuccine Alfredo and our kiddo had the kids pizza with pepperoni. While the cakes tasted okay, it was dry. Sad. My husband's dish though... the pasta didn't even look like fettuccine! Looked like the pasta was home made but the noodles must've fallen apart while cooking... can't believe they even decided to serve that way but we didn't have the time nor energy to send it back. At least our 5 year old enjoyed the pizza; the server was sweet with our kiddo and that was appreciated. We had really high hopes for this place but after this experience, we will not be back. read more

We decided to try the new spot in town for a birthday dinner. A nice addition to Front Street with some kinks to work out, especially in light of the price per diner. We ordered a calamari appetizer, gnocchi and the bistecca. Every dish was VERY tomato heavy. Chopped tomatoes seemed to play a starting role on every plate. Not a problem, per se, except for, because of that, there was little distinction in flavor between any of the dishes. All tomato, all the time. As it was my birthday, we ordered a dessert. Dessert is my love language and The Great British Baking Show is what I watch on the treadmill, so my hopes and standards are high. The only option that evening was the Impossible Cake (D doesn't do coffee so the tiramisu was off the table and bread pudding was not available) a chocolate cake with a layer of flan with caramel sauce. Sadly, the cake was really, really bland and, in the words of TGBBS's Mary Berry, a bit stodgy. Birthday cake is usually my favorite part of the day, not so much this year. The service was just fine and we are hoping that the flavor and texture issues are something that will work out in time. read more

The wine flowed nicely for those who imbibed. Though crowded and bustling, it still felt like our large group was in an intimate setting. I had pizza. Got extra sauce because first bite was dry. It made all the difference. Had meat both pepperoni and sausage. The sausage was very flavorful. The crust was dull, pretty boring. Just something basic to hold the sauce, meat, and cheese. Came in for lunch on weekend and we were seated right away. We tried a salad, some pasta with salmon, a gluten free pizza, the clam chowder, and calamari and everyone was very happy with what they ordered. Since I have some sensitivities I only had the pizza that day but man, this pizza made up for the craving I've been having for regular pizza lol. My family really liked how light the food felt and how it was seasoned, though we did go home with leftovers! I will say the staff here were wonderful. Lets be realistic. The business prior - Thats some Italian - is no different than the current management. Example - there are 50-60 for dinner, rotating in and out. 2 cooks. 2 waitstaff, and whom I beleive to be the owner (same as The Loft) floating around filling in. If you love water refills by the hostess constantly in lieu of your server being overloaded and inattentive, then this is your place. We got there at 615pm and left at 845, not because we loved the place. It took 30 minutes to get a drink. I watched 3 people go and wait at the (unattended) bar for a drink, which took time away when the server had to fetch their own table drink orders. This is the same song and dance if you go to The Loft. I watched people in the restaurant have the same dismay and anxiousness that we had. The servers are not to blame - its the management. Get it together managment, or lack there of, or we will be looking at another change of business. Its TOO MUCH to even consider going back even if it were free - it should be called Fly By the Seat of Your Pants Italian! read more

The broccolini on top was slightly cold but it was quite delicious and the serving felt a little small, there was only two cannelloni on the plate. - The eggplant parmasan was disappointing. The polenta was mushy and clumpy and unseasoned. The eggplant was unseasoned and lost its crisp. The marinara was overly acidic and lacked flavor. - The Verdura Arrostita pizza was quite delicious, the roasted garlic on top was the highlight. The crust was fine, as well as the other veggies on top. - The winter salad was delicious, very simple but and clean and delicious! - The coconut panna cotta with mango chutney was fantastic! - The italian soda very good, although it could have benefited from some whipped cream or a garnish of sorts. - The complimentary focaccia and oil was very delicious, the topping on the bread was fantastic! ‍‍Accessibility - 9/10 - the restaurant is quite accessible physically, it is completely ground level with a ramp on the side walk. The accessible parking is a little far from the restaurant though sadly. - Sensory wise, the music is calm and the lights are dim. ‍Service - 10/10 - the service was fantastic, we got in one hour before closing and did not feel rushed or like we were not wanted in anyway. The waiter was very kind and helpful and made a great dessert recommendation. Ambiance - 9/10 - Good lighting, very pretty decor, nice music, great view. Parking - 7/10 - There is not parking in front of the restaurant so it is a little inaccessible but not too bad. Price - 7/10 - it is a bit pricey for the food, the ambiance is very nice but the food felt a little simple or not as worthy of the price, it wasn't bad, just not as worthy of the price for the quality. read more

The food was good, the service was mediocre at best, the add on prices were absolutely ridiculous. We thought we would try this place for the first time and will not be returning. Although the food was good, the service was not, the atmosphere was not aesthetically pleasing, the acoustics made it impossible to hold a conversation, and when I asked if they did anything for birthdays, the server looked at me like I was insane. The attitude throughout the whole service was unnecessary, and then we were charged extra prices for add-on items that were never ordered. Then we were charged an extra 3.5% charge for using a credit card on top of the additional charges and the snarky attitude. We will be taking our weekly dining business back to another local business down the street. read more

Ordered the bruschetta, fettuccini Alfredo for me, seafood cakes for the wife, and kids pizza for the little one. They had cool twisty plastic straw things for my son which was awesome. The focaccia bread was good, dip with oil and vinegar. The bruschetta was like some tried to make ceviche with oil and vinegar vice lime. The whole plate and toasted bread was almost slimy with oil. The fresh vegetables and fruits were drowned in oil, the life stolen from what is supposed to be a light opening dish. The fettuccini may have been home made but was butchered into small fork size pasta cuts that molded together. The sauce was decent but expecting fettuccini and getting a weird gnocchi tasting torn up hand pasta was disappointing. Service was great, son loved his pizza. First time going here since the new owners took over. So many things to talk about. 1. The service: from the time we walked in until the time we departed was excellent. We were seated right away (amazingly on a Friday night 6 pm), our drinks never got empty and the timing between courses was perfect. 2. The food: Again start to finish the food was top notch. See photos. 3. Environmental considerations: This is where there is some room for improvement. The interior renovation was done very well but no consideration was give to sound. Everything inside the dining area is a hard surface that reflect sound in a hollow echoed way. Some well placed sound absorption panels or padded seats are needed. Outside dining area needs some space heaters as fall is upon us. Finally, the shared bathroom spaces are in need of a complete top to bottom renovation. Their deteriorating condition is the one really bad spot that can negatively impact your over all experience at this otherwise excellent venue. read more

Had a wonderful surprise eating at this Poulsbo restaurant! Genuinely great food, excellent service and a nice view! We had the garlic appetizer and daughter enjoyed her Caprese salad while I loved the salmon penne which had a really nice combination of flavors from the grilled salmon and cherry tomatoes in a really nice creamy sauce over penne pasta. Visiting town and stopped by here, beautiful view right by the water and great service. The bread was high quality and my family and I all loved our dishes (we got the salmon penne, the pappardelle bolognese, and spaghetti and meatballs). Amazing sauteed calamari and paper plane cocktail starter! I could have eaten that was the main entree with bread! We then had their gnocchi which was light with lots of sauteed tomatoes and light cream sauce. I thought my gnocchi was better than my husbands carbonara but he loved his dish! I chose this restaurant on a whim. It started pouring outside and this was the closest place. It is facing the waterfront and most tables have a view. There were only two waitstaff handling the bar and the guests but they were doing an awesome job of it including being friendly but not "in your face". They were still attentive while managing the chaos leftover by hungry runners from the pub run earlier in the day. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and my husband ordered the salsiccia (sausage) pizza. The pizza is a thin crust if you like that (I don't) but the toppings were great. The meatballs were tender and the pasta was perfectly done. My favorite was the focaccia that comes with your meal. I'm glad we got so lucky ducking into this great little Italian restaurant. read more

Lovely atmosphere. I've tried VERY hard to support and give some honest feedback. A while ago I ordered the Gnocchi to go. Got home and it was ROCKS. NO seasoning. Tonight? I thought I'd try again. I told one of the owners about what happened last time. He said "well. Maybe it was over cooked. This time, make sure you try it before you leave". He set it down and it was STEAMING hot. That's NOT normal. I tried it. ZERO seasoning again. Hard as rocks. I asked him to try it. I also said "was this microwaved?" He agreed there was no seasoning but said "no. Not microwaved". He took it back. He brought another one. It was a little better with seasoning so I went with it. But? In the three miles to my house? Solid ROCKS. I go to another Italian place on Bainbridge for Gnocchi......this NEVER happens. EVER. They can say they don't microwave their dishes, but to me? This proves it. As I don't eat meat, there's not much else on the menu for me. I won't be back. I REALLY want this lovely place to succeed... Maybe their kitchen staff should TASTE their food before it leaves the kitchen. I shouldn't have to tell them there is ZERO seasoning in their sauce. I shouldn't have to tell them multiple times that their gnocchi is over cooked. (And have their owner agree) And? They should have said "I'm sorry about your last experience AND this experience, I'll give you a discount, or a glass of something...thanks for supporting us". I hope they figure it out. Salt. Excellent new restaurant in town. Thoughtful menu, with a nice variance. Excellent wine selection, with some cocktails and beers. We ordered a very nice pinot grigio. Started with calamari, and it was some of the better calamari I've had. It wasn't deep fried like most places, which was refreshing. An order of hood canal clams was very good. Finally, I had the salmon penne. Happy to report it was very very good. The waitress was very friendly and helpful. Definitely will be coming back to try more. read more

We have been to Dalla Baia 4 times, I think, in the past several weeks. Our standards are pretty high - hubby is a lifelong fine-dining restaurant manager. This restaurant has nailed it every single time! The food is delicious, service is attentive and friendly and timed perfectly. To be clear, this is NOT a "fancy fine dining" restaurant ... it's a wide open dining room - no booths - it's well lit, giant windows facing the parking lot, which looks out over the lovely Liberty Bay and the Olympic Mountain range, and it's a bustling restaurant with piped in music that is good but not "hushed". We have zero complaints or suggestions for improvement. Dalla Baia is well run, serves great food, and we're glad it's here in Poulsbo! read more

Spilling water and balsamic vinegar on the table should be wiped up immediately, not left to dry messily on tabletop. Don't order the Gnocchi, ours was heavy and rubbery. We were looking on Yelp for someplace "new and different" to celebrate a special occasion, and this restaurant caught our attention based on some of the reviews and some of the food photos. Spoiler alert, excellent and accommodating service (thank you, Grisel), nice open and modern atmosphere, fun jazzy music in the background, food needs help. We had: --Two Caesar Salads. Alright but nothing special. The dressing, made in-house, tasted very generic; we should have split a single order, all that lettuce got monotonous. --Parppadelle Bolognese. The parppadelle was too dense in a spaghetti-ish sauce that was more tart than savory and sweet. Again, alright but not game changing. --Chicken Piccata. This was my biggest disappointment, sorry to say. What I experienced was super dry, tough filets that looked great on the plate but took considerable effort to cut through with the butter knife that was provided. It simply did not have the texture and juicy flavor of a freshly sautéed chicken breast filet. Made me wonder if the chicken was cooked beforehand, kept warm, and then assembled with a prepared sauce. Our server and the kitchen did accommodate my request for a heavy serving of the lemon sauce, which helped. We will give it another shot, but next time maybe split a salad (they provide a bread plate per guest right on the table), try something else, and not come with such high expectations.
