We were looking on Yelp for someplace "new and different" to celebrate a special occasion, and this restaurant caught our attention based on some of the reviews and some of the food photos. Spoiler alert, excellent and accommodating service (thank you, Grisel), nice open and modern atmosphere, fun jazzy music in the background, food needs help. We had: --Two Caesar Salads. Alright but nothing special. The dressing, made in-house, tasted very generic; we should have split a single order, all that lettuce got monotonous. --Parppadelle Bolognese. The parppadelle was too dense in a spaghetti-ish sauce that was more tart than savory and sweet. Again, alright but not game changing. --Chicken Piccata. This was my biggest disappointment, sorry to say. What I experienced was super dry, tough filets that looked great on the plate but took considerable effort to cut through with the butter knife that was provided. It simply did not have the texture and juicy flavor of a freshly sautéed chicken breast filet. Made me wonder if the chicken was cooked beforehand, kept warm, and then assembled with a prepared sauce. Our server and the kitchen did accommodate my request for a heavy serving of the lemon sauce, which helped. We will give it another shot, but next time maybe split a salad (they provide a bread plate per guest right on the table), try something else, and not come with such high expectations. Boring blah looking restaurant which looks like it's struggling. Waitstaff needs more training focusing on attention to detail. Spilling water and balsamic vinegar on the table should be wiped up immediately, not left to dry messily on tabletop. Don't order the Gnocchi, ours was heavy and rubbery. I would like to see a better wider variety on the menu. Last thing, clean the walls and corners, the place looks slovenly. read more

Outstanding from start to finish. Our second time last night. Four of us enjoyed excellent, friendly service. The food? Wow. I ordered Chicken Marsala and it was crazy good. If that sauce was bottled, I'd buy it. The asparagus and roasted potatoes (sides) were equally good - the best I can recall ever having. The other three ordered lasagna and all three were members of the Clean Plate Club. The atmosphere is light and informal and it's hard to beat the location. Parking is Poulsbo is an issue so you might have to park a bit far away on a busy night. I think most of us here would rather have that than massive paved parking lots. Prices are in line - not outrageous. No matter. Dalla Baia is worth the walk. We look forward to dinner #3. read more

I came for dinner to go on April 23 and this was the second time I had eaten there. It was early, around 4:30 and the place was fairly quiet. I had a glass of wine and bruschetta while I waited for my order-to-go: Eggplant Parmesan and Panzanella, for later. I have spine arthritis, so the bucket chair was uncomfortable. This was my second time there. The first time, back in the fall, I had brought an order of Panzanella home with me. It was so delicious. Because it was to-go, they packaged the bread separate, so I could mix the bread in, after I got home. It was a crusty raised Italian bread, maybe ciabatta or como. That salad was excellent. This time, however, when I opened the Panzanella at home, it was already mixed and the bread was different. This time it came with focaccia bread. I was able to eat only about three bites. I really do not like focaccia bread in Panzanella as it's mealy and tastes weird to me. I had to toss it. Today I remembered to call them and ask which way was the usual way they made their bread salad: with focaccia or Ciabatta type bread. They told me focaccia. On the other hand, the Eggplant Parmsan and accompanying polenta was wonderful. read more

Went for lunch.. there was a girl standing at the podium.. no smile.. no welcome... we asked for a table and noticed there were about 3 other occupied tables vs other packed restaurants, was this a sign? We ordered sodas, 1 was flat (no bubbles) no real vibe.. no smiles in the place. Went to order; from the lunch menu which is comprised of salads, sandwiches and pizza. Ordered a sandwich and, they were out of bread. ? So we were left with minimal options. Still excited to give it a try.. we ordered salads and a pizza. About 25 minutes later...still waiting for our food (other tables were as well.) we were on a time schedule and decided to go somewhere else. Paid for our drinks and left. Bummer. First time in this place since they replaced the previous restaurant. Pros: Decent food. Not destination by any means, but solid. We only had a pizza and salad and both were tasty. I saw someone with the lasagna and would like to try it next time. Cons: So we counted thirteen tables. There was ONE woman working ALL the tables. But get this, the guy who sat us down, is just standing there hanging out while this one woman is busting her ass. Apparently he's the owner too! The entire meal, all we could focus on was this super-woman taking orders, clearing tables, delivering food, filling water, checking in, checking out bills, doing EVERYTHING for every table. The guy did nothing. Nothing! He had a weak beard stubble and just checked his phone, hid behind the wine counter with no one else there, and chatted with the kitchen. Maybe he thinks he's some 'old-world manly-man', but he came across as really just a limp sack of smarmy skin. If he's the owner, then he doesn't help his staff at all. I would hate working for him. If he's an employee, then they need to fire him immediately. I would have fired him on the spot. If he is the owner, he could at least update their Yelp and Google reviews to update their business hours. They are open for lunch now. Hasn't been updated for months. Dude... DO something useful! OMG. I hope our entire tip went to that super-woman! She was great. read more

Our greeting and service were friendly and professional- each time I have been the same couple worked the front. I have only eaten lunch but each time the food was flavorful and fresh. Dining room is clean and sleek with a view of the water. Took my husband (a picky chef!) and a friend for lunch and they both wiped their plates clean. Great value. read more

If you're looking for "That's a Some Italian" quality, just walk on by. (Thank you Marie and Tom for so many years of excellent food and top-notch service) After the new owner took over, I was pretty excited to try it out. Just me, but, very disappointed times three. I guess I can understand the smaller portions and higher prices, but I think the food quality ranks near the frozen Italian foods at Safeway. Nice try... I don't expect they will last long, and anticipate another Mexican restaurant in its place. I apologize, but I'm just being honest. read more

The food was excellent. The service was awesome. Nice waterfront location in an easy-going community with lots to do around it. The only negative for me was that it was much too loud. Carrying on any conversation was nearly impossible. There was music which could barely be heard. People at the tables were talking loudly so they could be heard, which made everyone have to speak louder than normal. This negative is not as important when compared to the appearance, texture, and taste of the food, which makes tolerating the loudness doable. I had the table bread, calamari appetizer, and seafood (fish) chowder, all of which were wonderful. Others in my party had the lasagna and eggplant parmigiana, which were delicious. This was my first time eating here since they opened up. Was not expecting much but went with a group of work mates to celebrate a lunch. I tend to be critical about restaurants because I like to cook my own food. All I can say OMG SO YUMMY. I had the carbonara and it was best!! The make their pasta and do not overcook it, like so many local Italian restaurants do. Service was attentive and friendly. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the volume inside. They don't have anything to absorb the sound and the music was way too loud. If it had been warmer, I would have asked to be moved outside. Plus you have a lovely view of the water. There was only about 4-5 tables full and we had a hard time hearing each other. I will be back as I need to try several other dishes. I would recommend you give it go. read more

Indoor had flies all over (it was an open air restaurant just FYI). We sled to sit outside and the waitress did warn us it was in full sun. They had umbrellas but not adjustable ones so they were not of much use. The seafood pasta lacked flavor and my gnocchi was mushy and have a grainy tomato cream sauce. Edible but not great. We've enjoyed a couple of dinners and a lunch at Dalla Baia. It's an upscale menu but the prices are reasonable. The clam appetizer was delicious and the serving size was very generous. The best thing I've had to eat there was the chicken and mushroom cannelloni with pesto cream sauce. The salads are wonderful and perfect to share if you are following with a pizza or entree. The bar makes a perfect dry martini and the wine list has a great variety to choose from. Desserts are beautifully prepared and presented and they serve an excellent cappuccino to finish. We had dinner there Friday night and are going back today for dinner with the kids. read more

Went yesterday for my birthday dinner and it was perfect! I made reservations via Facebook Messenger- the response was prompt and easy. I confirmed a day or two prior, as I had requested an outside table specifically. We were seated right away and got drinks and appetizers ordered within a few minutes after being given some time to peruse the menu. I can't wait until they have a fun cocktail menu or some speciality drinks, but my margarita absolutely hit the spot! The wine list was lovely as well. The bruschetta was out of this world delicious. Perfectly balanced flavors, and the right hit of balsamic vinegar. Nothing gives me a bigger ick than sloppy, mushy tomatoes, and this was the exact opposite- nicely chopped veg on a toasted crostini that wasn't leaking all over or falling apart in my hand. We ordered the hummus, clams, and calamari as well and it all came out quickly and were all devoured, but there was plenty for all 7 of us to try everything. Each of us got something totally different, and everyone seemed very satisfied. The pizzas were good-sized, and the lasagna looked wonderful. I asked our server, who was simply a gem- so great, attentive and beyond accommodating-, what she recommended out of a couple dishes, and she spoke highly of the marsala sauce, which is what it's all about, so I ordered it with veal and it just didn't disappoint. I also wanted noodles, so I ordered fettuccine as well- but apparently you can sub potatoes for penne if you want pasta with your meal instead. The pasta was so good, with a very flavorful Alfredo sauce. My husband had the seafood stew which he really enjoyed. I was pleasantly full by the end of it, and it was so, so worth it! This place is a great new addition to the Poulsbo waterfront! I will definitely be back, eating my way through their menu and drinking my way through the wine list! read more

Went with four people and we all ordered different things and only a few of the dishes were good. We had a gluten free person in our party and they were able to offer a gluten free penne which was awesome for an Italian restaurant. The Alfredo was amazing definitely would go back just for that. We had two orders of carbonara and they were completely different consistencies; one too watery and one too thick. The gnocchi was mediocre. read more

My partner and I frequent Poulsbo on our sailboat. Tonight we decided to try Dalla Baia after a long sail day. After we ordered and enjoyed the focaccia (which was great!), we were informed that the kitchen was running a bit behind, so my partner ordered a second glass of wine while we waited for our second courses to arrive. When his osso buco was served, he asked the waitress for a red wine recommendation to pair with the food (at this point his white wine glass was still full). She said that she was only 20 and would need to ask the bartender. After 20 minutes passed, she came back and asked me if I wanted a second glass of wine, which I declined. When my partner inquired about his red wine, she informed him that she thought he consumed too many beverages before he arrived at the restaurant and would not serve him! I understand liability issues and applications of rules when appropriate, but we had been on the boat all day (without alcoholic beverages) and just wanted to enjoy a date night out on land--there was no slurring, no loud verbage, etc. Other tables were served multiple bottles of wine, but my partner was not allowed to have more than 2? The owner watched from afar and did not intervene. Such a disappointment since we really enjoyed the food (carbonara was great!) and the atmosphere, but our night was ruined by misplaced judgement. read more
