A Promising New Start for a Familiar Spot, But Major Improvements Needed. As a local who has seen a few restaurants come and go in this exact spot, I was excited to see Daly Buffet open its doors. We went to celebrate my dad's birthday and to check it out during its opening week. Be prepared for a wait--we arrived at 11:30 AM and waited about an hour to be seated. There are some definite bright spots. The interactive Malatang station, where you pick your ingredients for a custom soup, is a fantastic touch. The same goes for the teppan grill. Having self-serve bottled drinks included in the price is also a huge plus. However, the buffet is showing some serious growing pains. The biggest issue was the food stock. By 12:30 PM, many of the trays were empty, which is tough during the peak lunch rush. The overall food quality was decent but didn't quite live up to the level of Kome, the previous buffet here. Long lines for the stations and a typically chaotic buffet atmosphere are to be expected. I'm rooting for Daly Buffet and hope it succeeds where others have failed. To do that, they'll need to focus on keeping the trays full and managing the crowds more efficiently. read more

After losing two buffets in the area during the pandemic, Daly Buffet back in the daly city! It's also super exciting to see all the customers rushing back to the buffet just the first week alone! Expect long waits during lunch or dinner times. I went here twice during a lunch($26) and birthday dinner($42) meals. For birthday, the conditions are that you need to be in a four adult paying group, one being the birthday person and they allow one day before your birthday for your free meal as well but bring ID for proof! Both times place was packed and lobby was filled with hungry guests. Food was good but keep your expectations low since a-lot of the food goes out fast. We came here for dinner and it wasn't what I expected. When we got in, u have to pay at the counter. An 8% surcharge is added to the bill(which is the tip)and u get taxed on the tips as well. We got seated and the place was actually pretty nice. It's very clean.. We went to get some sushi. All the fish are not fresh at all. They tasted like it was frozen before. The abalone soup was tasteless. There was a fish that was bought out so I got a scoop of it thinking it should be good or at least ok but it was so bland. All I tasted was oil and a hint of jalapeño. The shrimp crab claw was bland too. Usually u tasted that shrimp but this was almost like it was made of fish with no flavor. My little boy had some jelly and it wasn't good. I am so sorry to have to put two stars. I was hoping to eat a lot of short ribs which I was craving for. Two pieces at a time isn't a problem. The problem is each slice only had fat as majority. I was discouraged. The food looks good. I only tried a few items. Please review pics. I suggest to walk all around the whole place first then decide on what to eat. Try not to get more than one piece or overload your noodles bowl to find out which dish is thumb up or down. The drinks and utensils section are huge. $50 per person on weekend. Seafood is key lol. Extremely crowded waiting for a table with people just standing in the way by the host stand on their phone making it a bit hard to walk thru. An older lady push the back of a young girl cause she just was trying to cut thru lol. I was like damn. Hot food was a long wait only because the divide was not used or guided when it was between the buffets. So two separate lines became one giant line from the end of the hot food to the grill. All the other areas were short to fair wait time. Food was mediocre but it's good in general for a buffet. I suggest you grab a plate of sushi and chopsticks before waiting in line for the hot food line if it's long . Went for the soft opening it was very very busy. Food was tasty but typical Asian buffet style food. Sushi tasted good and was made fresh, however it kept running out since it was so busy. Food wasn't bad for the price and edible than most AYCE places. Service was fantastic! They didn't remodel much from the old Kome which was already a nice space. Waited a day after the soft opening on June 10th to give the Daly Buffet a try. Was a repeat customer for Kome, the previous buffet that used to be in the same location and wanted to see what its replacement had to offer. Came in for a late lunch at 2ish, and the place was bustling with people, possibly due to the excitement that there's a buffet in Daly City once again, or that there is a 10% off the bill for this soft opening weekdays. Process to be seated is going up to the counter and telling them how many people and being given a number ticket after which it took 20 mins to be called back to the counter to prepay and then be seated. There is an 8% service fee already tagged onto the total. The interior hasn't changed much since Kome, and the food selection and location for them was also pretty familiar. Sushi booth and dessert in the back, dim sum/teppanyaki in the front, and hot food in between. Main difference from before was that beverages were self service with quite the selection, and that they now have a malatang bar instead of a noodle soup one. The malatang was surprisingly good with the only critique being a limited selection of ingredients to add to it. Lunch was great with the only caveat that food took forever to replenish, possibly due to this being a soft opening. I've only been when this place was Kome (bye to "The One"), but a stomachache and 90-minute visit late I'm writing this review. Would be a weak 2.5. finally tried this place after a good while of opening and juggling between whether the overall reviews are good or bad. So... What better way than to first try their $26.99 Lunch special on Monday of Thanksgiving break with the fam and grandparents? Walked into an entrance with two claw machines and a yellow-ish kiosk desk. Only the two ladies up front are wearing vests and taking orders. All the kitchen staff and servers are mostly wearing their Daly Buffet T-Shirts. Stuff gets filled up fast but the trays looked messy with cross-contaminaiton. You've got your "Happy Birthday" playing in the back room and PBS channel (it was playing PBS Kids) playing where we sat. On the jumbo projector was a football game tho, both programs with no sound. Yeah, the ingredients are fresh, most dishes as they should, except some stuff is lacking flavor. Let's talk about the goods first. Fast service- senior discount for 65+ w/ID and your number gets called in less than 15 minutes of payment (you pay before getting a waiting card ) Free drinks- I think boba is only for dinner OR it flopped cuz there was only Chinese drinks in the fridge like 加多寶，康師傅，王老吉 etc. and a soda fountain. Mango pudding (not pictured) was good. And ice cold seafood. Dim Sum- Buns and little dishes of chicken feet and Beef Triple. The bads: Self Serve Cook For You Stations- Mongol BBQ guy has no sauce bar and is also being forced to cook grilled steam tray items at the same time, making the cooking less efficient. Mala Tang is okay, he was more efficient with boiling foods but the mala tang is just a reheated pork bone broth (no one knows how long it's been there) slathered with a scoop of chilli oil. I've been to Daly Buffet a few times now, and it's always such a solid experience. I've come here with friends and even solo for lunch, and every time it's been really nice and relaxing. Lunch time here is great -- not too crowded, no one rushes you, and it's the kind of place where I can just vibe and eat at my own pace. You do pay beforehand, which honestly makes things simple and stress-free. The food selection is awesome -- fresh sushi, seafood, classic Chinese dishes, and plenty of hot options that always hit the spot. Everything is well-stocked, and the staff are super friendly and quick with refills. I do wish there was a better selection for dessert, but overall, it's still a great buffet experience. Typical buffet spot. Came here because my husband wanted to try their tang bar. Not too many option on what you could add into your soup especially when it came to the vegetables. It was pretty disappointing. Drink section where you can choose canned or bottled sodas, teas (hot/cold), and/or water. They have signs everywhere that states if you take home they'll charge you. If you don't finish your food they'll charge you. Seats seemed old. Servers were pretty attentive to pick up finished/empty plates. Hot food and selection of food wasn't bad. We came here during lunch on Tuesday around 12:30 for lunch and it was packed. We waited around 40 mins to be seated. There were already a lot of people inside so we also need to get in line to get food also but it wasn't terribly bad waiting to get food. Lunch has less to no seafood but it is a little cheaper than dinner. Food was ok, wasn't too bad or too good. Dinner on Wednesday around 6pm. This time around we only waiting 30 mins to be seated. The wait isn't too bad if you have someone to talk to. Dinner has more seafood and I believed couple more sushi options too. However, stewed soup is only one per person so if you want another one you would have to get in line again. You don't know when they'll have it so just gotta keep an eye out for it. It's by the dim sum area near the front. I preferred dinner over lunch though. It's also hard to get pictures since too many people there grabbing food. We arrived a little after noon on a Tuesday and I didn't see a queue of people outside, so I thought we would be able to zip in and eat. Wrong. I had to step up and get a number and wait to be called. 35 minutes later I was able to pay for our meal and be seated. It was very crowded and noisy,not a relaxing experience. So let's start with the pros: this place has a variety of food and I mean variety! Food tastes fresh! What I loved the most was how we pay first to get in which means no extra charges when ur done eating. And what my husband loved the most was the drink options. Now the cons: thankfully I'm not deathly allergic to shellfish but I do try my best to stay away from it. When making my ramen soup, I see they boil everyone's items in one big pot. The gentleman next to me had shrimp in his bowl and the cook placed it in a strainer next to my stuff in the boiling water. So it's kind of dangerous for some. Also the food didn't taste bad but it also didn't taste great. It needed more flavor. And lastly, we went this past Sunday 11/09 for lunch and literally 4 out of the 11 guests got food poisoning. Daly Buffet was the same as Kome Sushi Buffet. Since it's the same familiar seafood buffet, I never need to take and post photos since most of the area was above average. Assorted sashimi, salad, and dim sum selections are nothing new to me. The newest selection that's now currently available are the malatang and the teppenyaki BBQ stations. Instead of asking for drinks from one of the servers, we walked to help ourselves for any fruity bottled beverages. As I looked around, there were some interior changes to fit the theme of the once familiar Kome Sushi Buffet. Once again from first to last dish: assorted sushi, various salad, tasty main course, and different types of desserts. For the teppenyaki BBQ, one must have up to 2 slabs of raw beef wagyu, NOT more than 2. The beef wasn't juicy, just meaty and well done. As for the shellfish like the whelk and oyster, had bit of the sand after consuming them; the staff never got to clean them. I still love Daly Buffet since it's the only sushi buffet close to the Daly City Peninsula near its BART station. Life at the Daly Buffet was like an hourglass where a sand of locals gather in a waiting room hoping to have an empty table. I'm glad that I came early before all the tables were full. read more

I was surprised at how good this buffet was. I got there at 11:15 and just walked in to pay. Instead of tip as high at 18 percent, they only charge 8 percent. That makes a big difference. The food was always fresh and plentiful. Always coming into the pans hot. I love their soup section. They had my favorite tripe, fish and seafood ball with a with a large section of vegies and meat. It's blannnnn, but the abalone soup was fantastic. Even though they don't close until 9:30, it seemed like they weren't restocking most of the dishes and everything felt like left overs at that point which made it unappetizing. They eventually did restock a few items, but for the majority it was just whatever was left remaining. We started off at the sushi station. The quality of the sushi and the ingredients they used were very low quality. You can't expect much from a buffet, however, the quality was definitely not worth $40/per person. The meat that they had for the noodle stations looked like they were left out for a while so I didn't even want to try it. I had some of the seafood (crab legs, shrimp) and both were just as bad. You can tell they used shrimp that had been dead for a while because of the texture. They had a good variety of bottled drinks to pick from, but most of the fountain drinks were also out of stock. My brother, my sister in law and I came to eat here for lunch for the very first time yesterday. We were really excited to see what the food would be like here. I really liked the string beans, Low Choy and Chow Mein. Unlike other Asian style all you can eat buffet restaurants; these vegetables and noodles were not covered in very much oil, which enabled me to actually taste their natural flavors. The same thing goes for the crab salad; it was not drenched in melted butter like other buffet restaurants. It was really nice to actually be able to taste the crab meat. I also enjoyed the sushi and the chunks of fresh salmon and the BBQ Pork Ribs. It was very convenient that the ice cream was served in little disposable plastic cups so I didn't make a mess using an ice cream dispenser machine. I ate all three flavors, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla. I also liked eating the cherry gelatin that was served in a little square plastic cup. The Beverage Center offered a wide variety of bottled waters and fruit drinks, canned drinks and a self serve soda fountain. Buffets are literally hit or miss.. mostly misses.. this place was average. It wasn't great or bad. There was two of us and we went at 11:30ish and it was already super busy. It was super loud too. I wanted to come try it out for myself and see if it's any good. They literally sat us right by the exit and it was really awkward since people were standing by our table waiting to be seated. There was a group waiting to be seated and someone that actually asked us if we could spare them a chair in the middle of us eating. I found that quite annoying and rude. The sushi was not as bad as thought it would be but the rice didn't taste fresh but at least the fish did. The rest of the food selection wasn't as much as I thought it would be. Some foods were okay and most were pretty bland. The beverage station I did like and they had individual ice cream and the fruits and dessert were a good and fresh. You get what you pay for and you get 10% discount if you're a senior and if it's your birthday you need to have a group of four in order to get it for free. Overall it's clean and somewhat organized.
