First off I have to say I'am so thankful for these people and I'll explain why. I drove my Datsun 280ZX off the lot in 1981, So I've had it about 44 years. Loved it more than my dogs, cats and especially husbands. So fast forward to now and my car was having some major problems that no one could fix. I took it to 2 Nissan dealerships a repair shop in Danville and one place I can't even remember. I'd get it back and they'd assure me it was fixed and it would just die out while I was driving. Real fun on the freeway. So going to Dando's was my cars last shot. Had it towed to Dando's and was expecting nothing. To my unbelievable surprise, Ken has it running better than it has in years. He knows and understands Z's which is almost impossible to find these days. My car couldn't even pass a smog because it kept dying. Yesterday I passed it with no problem. So, bring or tow your car to Ken... he can get you on the road safe and quick. I bet if you're blender is not working bring that with you, I'm sure he can get it all done. PS. He also fixed my BMW in less than 24 hours. Tina Ricardo

Classic car repair, Dando's knows the ins and outs for Z cars and are the perfect local shop to bring my S30. If you have an 8 am appointment that is the time they clear out the garage from the diverse cars in storage, it was an absolute pleasure to see American, Euro, and Japanese cars and hear sounds and smells that have not been common on streets for 50+ years. It is a mini car show and in my short time waiting someone who was just driving by stopped in to see if anything was for sale. There aren't a lot of shops that specialize in older vehicles, I came for an oil change and received good recs for oil viscosity and tire pressure for stiffer suspension, they were also confident about troubleshooting horn problems before I was luckily able to fix it myself. Enjoyed the stories and anecdotes while waiting, its clear the team is passionate about cars and very familiar with all sorts of different classic vehicles.

Instead of them saying no we can't do that by 5pm, they said they would have to keep the car overnight, but they could give me a loaner car at no extra cost. I had no idea that was a thing. Maybe that service is standard practice, but I've never been offered that before. Way better than waiting for a shuttle ride too, which is usually one of the mechanics when they have time. So the five stars is mostly for how they handled everything: with kind service, accommodation and a can-do attitude. Check out and getting the loaner car was a breeze. In terms of value, I knew of one other place that my partner had been to for four new tires and four pressure sensors that would have been $200 cheaper out the door, but they were further away, did not offer shuttle or a loaner car, and with the good customer service provided here, I was willing to pay a little more. I pick up my car tomorrow. If anything changes, I'll update my review, but I expect it will go smoothly.

I brought my car in due to an intermittent gear slipping issue, which I had already traced to a solenoid problem--a very common issue with my Pontiac G6. The symptoms only occurred twice, very briefly. My check engine light came on both times but turned off on its own. I was still able to drive the car on the freeway at full speed with no issues. The problem only showed up during city stop-and-go traffic. I specifically asked if they could just replace the solenoid, and was told no. Instead, I was told I "only had gears 1 and 2" and that I'd need a $4,800 transmission rebuild--which is objectively false, as I literally drove the car 70+ mph on the freeway both before and after leaving the shop. My engine light was off before coming to the shop, turned on once at the shop, then turned back off shortly after leaving. There is no way my car had only gears 1 & 2 I know what that feels like as it happened twice briefly. So to say this to me is insane. Mind you wouldn't have been able to go more than 25 with out the car struggling they must have assumed I don't know a thing about cars. Possibly because I'm a woman and I went alone. They also claimed the solenoid was too difficult to access without replacing the computer and warned me about my car's mileage, as if that meant it wasn't worth fixing. But then, on my way out, they admitted it's a "really great car" and "this is the only issue." It felt manipulative. I decided to trust my gut, went to a different shop, and had the solenoid replaced--and now my car runs perfectly fine. No rebuild needed. If I hadn't known what I was talking about, they would've gladly let me spend thousands on a completely unnecessary repair. Trust yourself. Do your research. Don't let fear-based upselling push you into something you don't need. Also from reading the reviews it sounds like the routinely tell their customers they need a rebuild and successfully do the rebuild. (more than likely something very easily replaceable) However a good transmission shop doesn't just rebuild, they properly and honestly diagnose and repair. He also tried selling me cars on the way out. Notice how he hasn't replied to this yelp review and also told me he feels bad for me in the text? Very unprofessional I don't need your pitty I needed honesty which I didn't get from this shop. He also told me don't buy a used car you can't guarantee you won't have problems it's best if you fix this one with us. Also told me not to go to another shop because id want a local shop lol

It makes sense they only have 3 stars. We recently purchased a vehicle from Carvana and used a…read morepersonal mechanic to do a complete car check; turns out Carvana sent a lemon and was trying to pass it off as a "decent" car- So we were recommended to bring it to a "certified" carvana shop which happens to be this excuse of a shop. We were told that one of the closest "certified" carvana shop was AAMCO Transmissions & Total Car due to the fact that it was the transmission being the issue this would be a better shop to go to- WRONG! So now that you have context, i'll explain the terrible service we've received. We dropped the car off at AAMCO on June 18 (thursday) @ 12pm and we were told we wouldn't hear anything back until next day. So far, normal. Right? Well here is the frustrating part, we got a call on Friday with great news that the car is ready to be picked up, we were asked to give them about 30-40 mins to get paperwork together (which worked out because that's about the time it takes to get there) Alas, we got back to the shop around lunch time (closer to 1) on friday and first of all- they had the vehicle parked in a red zone, in front of a fire hydrant. (see photo) When we walked in, the gentleman we dropped it off to recognized us immediately and said "You're here for the tahoe right?" we responded with yes. Now another gentleman sitting in the lounge, eating his lunch interrupts and immediately says "you can't take the tahoe, oh no, the tahoe isn't ready yet" Baffled we asked, "So why did we receive a call from someone here saying the car was ready? " his response - "who called you?" We responded with "a gentleman named Isaac" he proceeded to argue back "noooo, that car isn't ready yet" he then asked for our phone number and when provided, he realized HE was the one who reached out and told us the car was ready. But it wasn't. As he realized - there was no apology , no sincerity in his voice, and just blatant disrespect by laughing it off. Noticeably upset we continued to ask questions "so why did we get a call that the car is good to go and ready?" and he just said "oh that was meant for someone else". Now even more upset because he wasn't taking accountability and giving us zero information about the actual vehicle. Until we finally turned to the other guy who pretty much told us that we have to get a brand new transmission ‍ Which was entirely brand new news from the last phone call we got. Now, we aren't impatient people and understand that mistakes happen and miscommunications happen all the time but what we felt was disrespectful is that he just laughed in our face, while this has been a stressful task to begin with. With gas prices these days, driving back and forth for no reason is upsetting. Again, no sincere apology from him just laughs, while continuously stuffing his face with food mind you. WAIT WAIT WAIT- UPDATE! We showed up today June 20 (saturday) to pick up the car so that we can get it back to carvana, lo and behold - NOW THE CAR ISN'T EVEN STARTING! Carvana sent us a lemon and now they are making us deal with disrespectful sexist men. Yes, due to the fact that we are women is the reason I believe we were treated like this by Isaac. Interesting how the whole time it's been in our possession since Monday it has started totally fine, now we take it to the shop and they told us it was a 50/50 chance it would start. Again, the one younger guy that was there was decent but the older gentleman (i believe his name was Isaac) is a poor excuse of a human. Anyway, management- Isaac needs a refresher on how to speak to customers or just a reminder to be kind and to just take accountability. We're all adults here. Never recommending this business to anyone!

I inquired about getting a free inspection to check for an issue with my air conditioning system…read more(because ChatGPT said that they could offer this) and was told over the phone that they could do this. I verified again in person, and a (likely) different person said the same. However, after the inspection, the person said that I had to replace the entire unit () after a recharge failed and that I had to purchase an entire kit. AAMCO decided to assess an additional labor even though they didn't do any additional work. To verify what AAMCO told me, I brought my car to my regular mechanic, whom I trust, and he said that only a part had to be replaced. When you bring a car into a shop that you haven't used before, you have to ascertain that they would be trustworthy, that they would have the skills to properly diagnose and fix a problem, and that they would charge fairly for the work. AAMCO failed on all three counts. I would not recommend this business for car servicing. It appeared to me that they will try to make as much money as they could.
