I got the Chilled Dan Dan Noodles with pork belly. Overall, the dish was great and I wish I could rate it 5 stars BUT, I can't because I just can't rationalize $17 for the serving...it was just too small. $12-13 I could feel a little better about, but above $15 didn't seem worth it to me. It was really yummy, the Szechuan chili sauce was really tasty and I loved the fried scallions that added a nice crunch, along with the cucumbers adding crunch and freshness! The pork marinade was tasty, and I'd probably enjoy it as it's own side dish with rice. However, I didn't think there was enough meat to make it feel like an additional $4 was worth it, I got a serving of mostly fat -- and yes, I am aware that pork belly is a fatty slice of meat, but I would say half of the pieces I was given was fat only and no meat. I finally tried Dang Dude (along with 20-30 other people who ordered at the same time) at Sparkman's Wharf. It was prior to the Lizzie concert and was great to chill and listen to the live music before we went to the concert. I ordered the cold sesame noodles which was gluten free and vegan. It was interesting. I added ginger chili tofu on top for an additional $4. Next time I'd pass on the tofu. It was warm but lacked flavor. The noodles were good and had lemongrass and pops of flavor. The fried bits on top were the best part but it was a lighter and healthier option. I'd try something different next time. I got a lot of compliments on how good it looked. Yesterday, a coworker treated me to lunch after losing a bet . We decided to check out Dang Dude over at Sparkman Wharf. Dang Dude is described as a modern and creative, fast casual Asian street food restaurant. Guests can anticipate feasting on dumplings, spring rolls, double fried chicken wings, and rou-jia-mo. We were at work, so we decided to order online. They open at 11, but for some reason, you can't place an order until 12 online. Tried calling and the phone rang busy for the first hour. Slight delay, but we rolled with it. We ordered the Dan Dan noodles, udon noodles, steamed pork dumplings, and pork rou-jia-mo. They told us it would take 40 minutes, so we waited almost another hour. We drove over and found our food ready for pickup. We took it back to the office and dove in. We got into the noodles first. Both the Dan Dan noodles and the udon noodles were amazing! Great depth of flavor, contrast in texture, and overall enjoyable. They were far from traditional, but still great. The steam dumplings were pretty standard, but the sauce that came with them took them to a new level. The pork rou-jia-mo was essentially a Chinese sloppy joe on an English muffin. It had good flavor, but the bun was a bit past it's prime. Overall, we really enjoyed the food from Dang Dude. The noodles and dumplings were exceptional. The delays in ordering were a bit frustrating, but I am glad we pushed past them to enjoy the food. The prices were a bit high for lunch, but it is to be expected given the location. I tried Dang Dudes on a trip to Sparkman's Wharf. I ordered the Sesame Noodles and Pork Rou Jia. Mo. The Sesame noodles were a good size and flavorful. The noodles did taste a bit over cooked or were a bit mushy due to sitting in sauce/liquid. The Pork Rou Jia Mo was large and can be shared with two people. It looked like a sloppy joe. The meat was good but the bun did not blow me away. Overall Dang Dude was an okay experience. It was not the best food I have had nor the worst food. The fry noodles with pork are really salty with the pork being just smashed meat over cooked. The sauces make it even more salty. Really small portion for the price. Pass!! The chicken bun is absolutely dry and the bread is cold. The chicken is super dry and without a taste. They trey to mask the taste with sauce but makes it worse since is super salty. Pass!! Wow! First let me start off with how awesome their customer service is! I wish I would've caught the name of the gentleman at the register but he was super friendly, pleasant and welcoming. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday evening but he was smiling and the other employee was also very nice. I did not feel rushed even with a line of people behind me. The Thai Milk Tea with Boba - ABSOLUTE yes. So delicious! I cannot wait to go back and enjoy another cup! They only offered one size and it was a good amount. I honestly don't care for boba so I didn't even any of mine but the tea itself was excellent. My friend ordered the Ube Coconut tea and loved it! I enjoyed the fried pork dumplings and it was the perfect snack to enjoy while hanging out in Sparkman Wharf. I must say I really tried to think of the positive but the more I thought about it I just didn't like anything about what I ordered. They were nice so the stars are for customer service. First thing, on their menu they have the meat you can add to your noodles, I asked for pork, it was quite pricey for what it was about fifteen and change; 10 for the noodle bowl and 5 for the type of meat( chicken, beef, pork) to my surprise I got ground meat. One of the few things I don't eat in this world is ground meat and being that on their menu it did not state anything about being ground meat or I would have not ordered it. My fault for assuming it would be like pulled pork or pork belly ..but five Dollars for sadly, dry ground pork is a little too much. I forced myself to be a grown up and eat what I order not to waste the food; I realized my noodles were floating in sauces, first bite was like licking a block of salt and I love salt.. in the end I was not able to eat more than three bites and tried to pawn the bowl to a friend who took a bite and sadly threw it away. This place is absolutely disgusting. Coming from California, I realize that my standards are high, but they should be!!! Asian food is the whole rainbow of flavors, while this place literally offers one flavor: SWEET. I feel bad supporting this place because it made it seem slightly more authentically asian for the 30 minutes I ate here (as I am asian). I went here with a friend and got the "5 spice pork bun" and a sake bomb. My friend got the noodles and the potstickers. First impressions: everything was WAY too sweet. Like, ridiculously sweet. Also the fact that they charged us ~20 dollars EACH for the everything is kind of ridiculous. Additionally, the food was covered in what appeared to be Frenchy's crunchy onions?? Why was this necessary. 5 spice pork bun: 0/5. There was absolutely no spice present. It tasted and looked like a sloppy joes. It was VERY sweet. It seems ridiculous that they charged me almost 10 dollars for this as it was literally a white bread/English muffin like wrapper and VERY VERY SWEET ground pork. That was literally it. Potstickers: 1/5. Very gross. Not worth it at all. I have made better potstickers at home in my air fryer using pre-made potstickers from Costco. Not to mention these potstickers looked like they were from Costco. They did not look freshly made or even home-made. Not to mention the way they plated it with the soy sauce (!!!) on the bottom of the potstickers and the crunchy onions on top (??). Why would you even make potstickers like this? the potstickers got soggy almost immediately and the crunchy onions (which should NOT be on potstickers anyways) fell off almost immediately and also got soggy. Noodles: 2/5. The best food item we tried. The noodles themselves were chewy and the texture of the food was okay. The sauce was soy-sauce based (which is generally a no-no for good asian/chinese food; soy-sauce is a condiment, NOT A SAUCE) but still managed to be overly sweet. Also, what is this place's deal with crunchy onions? They aren't even made-fresh ( I literally watched a man put a whole container of crunchy onions on my friends food, essentially ruining his meal with mildly crunchy/mostly soggy pre-made crunchy onions. Sake bombs: 3/5. They did not have chopsticks here to let me and my friend do a sake bomb the original way. Additionally, the sake they have here is also EXTREMELY sweet, which did not really work with the Asahi beer they have here. This was the most tolerable item we tried here and it was still not up to par. It was literally SAKE AND BEER. Two pre-made items that STILL DID NOT WORK TOGETHER. All in all: skip this place. While I am all for more asian options in Tampa, this is NOT an asian restaurant. This is a culture vulture restaurant trying to capitalize on the lack of asian food and offering up some subpar choices that taste really gross and cost more than I would be willing to pay regardless. I will never come back here and I suggest that you don't try this place either. I literally don't have enough words to describe how disgusted I am by this place. read more

I chose to order food here before a hockey game based on reviews and pics. I ordered the udon stir fry with ground tofu and the steamed veggie potstickers. My pot stickers were ice cold. Gross! How long ago was it steamed? The sauce with it was OK but not very much flavor. I did ask for the noodle dish without mushrooms. There were still a few but over all not many! The stir fry was loaded with the fried onion pieces. Loaded! No thanks. It's like covering up the dish to compensate for the lack of flavor. The sauce for the udon noodles was very sweet and salty with the veggies. Such a bummer. I love Asian street food, but $25 for these small, cold, and not tasty dishes is a big disappointment. Dang Dude was recently included in the Tampa Bay Times list of new best restaurants in the area. We are desperate for good, casual Asian food so we drove over from the beaches. First disappointment was they were out of "everything veggie," which I think meant the veggie dumplings. I ordered the Yaki-udon noodles. They were okay but very oily. My husband got the chilled sesame noodles and Thai Milk Boba tea, which he said was just okay. In summary, Dang Dude might be a good place to grab a bite if you are already in the Sparkman's Wharf area but I sure wouldn't go out of my way to eat there. read more
