    3. Internal Combustion Roll Smoky, creamy, spicy perfection. One of my favorites.
    Andira C.

I first came here when they opened a few years ago and loved it, but since I didn't live nearby anymore I hadn't been back until recently, when I stopped in for a solo dinner. Once again, the food was amazing The Internal Combustion Roll was a standout smoky, creamy, with the perfect amount of heat and jalapeño kick . I also tried onigiri for the first time, and it was yummy, filling, and so good . They've added mock mojitos to the menu, which was such a nice surprise light, refreshing, and not overly sweet. Service was excellent, with the owner and staff checking in and offering great recommendations . The space is super cute inside with updated decor and lighting, and overall the food, service, and atmosphere were top-tier I left full, happy, and already planning my return

This place understood the assignment! The sushi was so fresh it tasted like the fish had be given positive affirmations its whole life. Every bite = happy little serotonin boost. And the pork spring roll... WOW! That wasn't a spring roll, that was a love letter to pork wrapped in a rice paper. Generous, seasoned, and full of flavor.

Isekai was short of NOTHING. The service top notch, the sushi exquisite and the atmosphere, welcoming. We tried a variety of traditional and special rolls, each one more delicious than the next. The server made some great recommendations also! Unbeknownst to our table, a different roll was brought out than the one we requested. The gal came so sweetly and let us know the mishap and brought out our roll we originally ordered, on the house! I'm all about service style and substance, Isekai has it it ALL. I will be coming back, this place was amazing.

**Isekai Sushi and Café: Where Chef Chris Said "What If Sushi Was... Honest?"** Okay, so there's this place called Isekai, and Chef Chris and Chef David are out here doing something wild: they're making sushi... correctly. I know, revolutionary concept. But here's what got me. They have a chart on the wall. Showing you where every fish comes from. Like they're so confident in their sourcing, they're basically challenging you to have questions. "You want to know where this tuna is from? BOOM. It's right there. We're not hiding anything. In fact, we insist you look at this chart." The homemade ginger dressing? Come on. That's the kind of detail that makes you realize other places have been lying to you your whole life. This is what it's supposed to taste like. *Oh.* So that's ginger dressing. Cool, cool. Everything I've had before was... what exactly? Now, every roll we tried was like a different personality. One roll is light and refreshing--very "nice to meet you, let's take things slow." The next one? Explosive. Flavor everywhere. Your mouth doesn't know what hit it. It's like they're teaching a master class in range. "You thought sushi was one thing? Wrong. Sit down." No tricks. No smoke and mirrors. Everything is exactly what they say it is, and somehow that makes it taste even better. It's transparent in a way that makes you wonder why every restaurant isn't doing this. Shout out to Britt, Zach, and Kirby for the recommendation. You three are the real MVPs. You sent me to a place where chefs are actually *chef-ing*, and I will never forget this. Go to Isekai. Look at the chart. Taste the difference. You're welcome.

We tried a bunch of sushi -- Isekai volcano roll, spicy salmon, spicy tuna & Luffy's walk the plank were really good. Tempura bagel, Internal combustion & Bonita roll (off-menu) were good. Pork belly bao buns were also good. Melon mojito was too sugary & didn't quite taste like a mojito. Seating was a little tight but service was great!

This little unsuspecting sushi spot in this shopping plaza off of Gunn really blew us away. We were greeted warmly when we walked in and sat right away. We were just stopping in for a light lunch and asked for some recommendations, their miso soup was great, and then I also had the Lemon Drop roll - I kid you not when I say this is my new favorite roll in all of Tampa. The flavor combo with the lemons and the peach vinaigrette is paired so perfectly in this roll, overall just amazing! The vibe here is super cute too, it feels very welcoming. Also - huge thanks to Chris for taking such good care of us while we were there. 10/10 in customer service for sure. Can't wait to go back!

    Pulled pork dumpling

An EPIC sushi spot serving up the freshest fish and making omakase style sushi accessible to the public. My jaw was literally on the floor the entire experience. Located in an unassuming plaza in north tampa, Isekai sushi is legit! You can definitely tell the owner and sushi chefs take great pride in their art. Food: For an appetizer we ordered the pulled pork dumplings which are an innovative take on a classic. The edamame and seaweed salad were super fresh. The real star of the show for me was the chefs nigiri plate which featured 12 pieces of curated nigiri by the sushi chef. It's a sight to behold and truly felt special when the chef came to explain each roll, the ingredients of each and the flavor profile. Amazing!! We also ordered otoro handrolls and rolls. SO fresh. Drink: It's BYOB so account for that. There's a walgreens next door where we grabbed some beer. The restaurant sells boba and different types of teas, all which sound delicious.

    12 piece nigiri - chef's choice
    Alissa R.

What a gem. The space is super cute, small, and well utilized. I went during non-peak hours and was seated immediately. The owner, Chris, is also very friendly and knowledgeable about sushi. He recommended an assortment of 12 nigiri pieces that is served with either soup or salad. I usually avoid chef's choice because I like variety, and all too often, I see the same exact pieces served again and again. Not here. Their take on assorted fish was fresh (pun intended) and satisfying. I truly appreciated the selections they included. The house marinated shoyu ikura, in particular, was excellent - balanced and not too salty.

Incredible. We came here for a date night before the movies and were not disappointed. Brian, our server, was super attentive. The sushi was extremely fresh and we watched the team make and torch the rolls in front of us. Will definitely be back!

    13. Lemon Drop Roll and Spicy Tuna
    Sarah A.

This is a pretty good sushi place. I ordered the lemon drop roll which was excellent and the spicy tuna which was good. I got take out and my order was ready upon arrival. The menu is not as large as I would like for a sushi place but the rolls were pretty good. Overall this is a decent place. The interior restaurant was small.

Came in for lunch. They have lunch combos that include a roll, tea and salad or fried tofu. We walked in and sat quickly. Order taken and not long after the food was out. Very good food and service. Highly recommend. The tea was quite delicious! We didn't get boba in our tea and I did opt for no sugar which made it perfect.

    A little of everything
    Yesenia C.

Where to begin.. the food was a 12/10. Great portions and amazing fresh flavors. Large selection available to cater to all palletes. The service was excellent, Chris came over and greeted us warmly. Made sure we were well taken care of. The location itself is easy to get in and out of, very chill spot. Cannot wait to come back!

Florida man bowl and krabstick salad onigiri
    Kristine L.

We've been here twice in the past few weeks. This is one of the few places that have onigiri! I had Thai tea with Crystal boba. I asked for the sugar to adjusted and we settled on having it unsweetened and the sweetener syrup on the side so I can adjust it myself. The Crystal boba was already a little sweet so I really didn't add anything to it.

The tuna tartare was super tasty as well and I would definitely order this again same comment for micro greens on this dish - didn't need this and found myself moving it off the dishes to actually enjoy the item. The two not so favorite dishes for me were the fried rice topped with fried chicken. While chicken was very tasty the rice was extremely basic. Could have used eggs or other ingredients to elevate this dish. Also the Volcano roll was extremely disappointing. Normally the volcano topping is cooked or (torched) and this topping was cold and very unappetizing. Would not recommend this roll. Overall this place is a hit or miss. Food is terrible - they even forgot the egg as a part of my ramen and brought me a frozen egg when I mentioned the missing item which was disgusting. Octopus is so tough and chewy. We both really enjoyed our drinks. For appetizers, we shared the wagyu gyoza and I also got a couple pieces of nigiri -- Hokkaido Hotate (scallop) and the otoro (fatty tuna belly). Yum! We both ordered sushi rolls (maki) for our mains. I got the Ro signature roll which has spicy tuna, avocado, and hamachi. My sis got the classic tempura shrimp roll topped with crispy potato chips which was a nice twist. We definitely got our sushi fix! The end of every meal comes with a complimentary sweet surprise and I'm so glad we saved just enough room for dessert. They make their own ice cream in-house and have fun rotating flavor combinations. I can't remember the exact flavor we had, but it had a passion fruit ganache on top with some crumble topping and it was phenomenal! Some of the best ice cream I've ever had. We checked out a bunch of different restaurants, but they were all booked up. So, we ended up booking Wagamama for our dinner on Sunday night. After finding roadside parking near the restaurant, we checked in at the register and were shown to our table. Our server greeted us and provided us with menus. Following a discussion among ourselves and with our server, we began our order with a lychee martini and a coconut drift for drinks. For appetizers, we selected the Bang Bang Cauliflower, which our server highlighted as a very popular option, along with chicken pot stickers. For our main courses, we ordered the chicken pad Thai, Karage Chicken Strips for our toddler and the chicken firecracker dishes. Our drinks arrived first: a Lychee Martini and a Coconut Drift. The Lychee Martini contained a significant amount of vodka, so much that my spouse could only manage two sips. The Coconut Drift was better, but it still had an excessive amount of sugar. We got our Bang Bang Cauliflower appetizer. However, upon tasting it, we found it wasn't cooked properly. It tasted like they simply coated the cauliflower with sauce without properly cooking it. We were disappointed to have to return it. Following that, our chicken pot stickers arrived. The chicken pot stickers were just okay, without anything particularly noteworthy about them. They weren't even properly cooked around the edges. Both appetizers we ordered turned out to be disappointing. Our dinner arrived and included Pad Thai and Chicken Firecracker. Both dishes were just alright; they could have been better. Compared to how other reviews described them, they didn't live up to the expectations set by those reviews. We couldn't get the Chicken Karage Strips we wanted for dinner. We ended up having to comp the whole thing because even though the restaurant wasn't that full (only about 70-75% empty), we had to wait a super long time for the food to be ready. Our visit to Wagamama was so disappointing that we may not return. We were unhappy with the food, the service, and the atmosphere.
