The Best at the Shore! If you want a wonderful experience, you have to visit Daniel's Bistro at Point Pleasant NJ. We have been going there for many years and the consistency of the food and service has been very high. As with every great restaurant its all about the food and this is where Daniel's Bistro excels. The Ahi Tuna and the Duck Meatballs on the Appetizer menu are delicious items that you will not find anywhere at the Shore. One of our favorite items on the Entree menu are the Lobster Tails. These are pretty common at the Shore but Chef Daniel poaches them to make them tender and juicy. If you are lucky enough to be at the restaurant when the Bone-in-Rib Eye steaks are on the Specials menu, you are in for a real treat. These steaks are as good as any in the finest steakhouses in NYC. Just a word about the service...the Wait Staff here is professional, courteous and very friendly. And there are extras. After your wine is opened and your order is placed, you are brought a demitasse of delicious soup and fresh Bruschetta. This special touch and the amazing Brownies at the end of the meal are enough to set this restaurant apart from all the others at the shore. read more

We were a party of 8 and all of us were unanimous in our praise. Our server, Earl, could not have been more professional, he made us feel we were at a five star Manhattan establishment. I cannot say enough good things about this restaurant!! We went last Saturday evening, Jan 11. I made a reservation for 7:30 PM for two people. Apparently I made a mistake and reserved through the wrong site. They were slammed, BUT they couldn't have been more accommodating. They told us they would bring a table in for us. We thought we would be stuck by the kitchen or somewhere they could squeeze us in which would have been fine since I made the mistake.We were wrong! They made a lovely, romantic corner somehow. The service was outstanding! Nothing less than professional. Forest, the host was unbelievably attentive as was the entire staff! They all worked together to make, not just ours but everyone's dining experience a memorable one. The food, what can I say? WOW!! Of ai could give 6 stars I would. We dined at the new location of Daniel's Bistro for the first time and we had yet another fabulous experience just like at the original. There new location definitely gave the a more spacious restaurant, however, there are still a few tables that are just TOO close to other guests for my liking. I prefer not to feel like the table next to me is not part of our private conversation and I can only assume vice versa for the other guests. We ordered a delicious buffalo mozzarella appetizer which we both enjoyed greatly along with the other "snacks" they serve you... bread, cream of wild mushroom soup, olives, etc. For dinner, I had the fish special (sea bass) and my husband had the loin of pork which were both phenomenal. We dine out quite frequently (on weekends mostly), and consider ourselves to be restaurant connoisseurs. Usually we are the people that our friends and family ask for suggestions for their evenings out. I highly would recommend Daniel's Bistro in Point, but I would say.. get in before all of the "bennies" do!! read more

One couple was a little late and the hostess/ owner made us very uncomfortable, kept asking if the others were coming and told us how much time we had to eat and we had to get out by that time. Bad experience. Veal saltimbocca was ordered by two people - both thought it was awful (over seasoned, ugly, lacking proscuitto and cheese). The breadcrumbs on the clams casino were raw. This is my fifth year spending the summer in Point Pleasant Beach and I have never been to Daniel's only because they are not on OpenTable. What a mistake! We finally had to use the phone to make a reservation and it was well worth it. Our group goes out to dinner at least once every weekend and this was the best dinner of the year so far. The food was excellent and the setting was "summer elegant." The appetizers were a bit small but delicious and the main courses were not small at all. The food was excellent overall and the service was excellent as well. Two of the five people at the table said the waitress was a bit overly attentive in a contrived way but they are too picky. If you have more than 4 people, be sure to reserve two weeks in advance. This place is worth it! read more

My husband and I went to Daniel's last night with two other couples to celebrate 3 birthdays. While the food was delicious and served perfectly, our experience was diminished by the poor attitude of the woman who is the hostess, and we later learned, is in fact the owner. My husband was seated where the air conditioner blew on him directly. After a considerable amount of time, my husband said he was freezing. Our waitress and the hostess (owner) were not around, so I asked another waitress who was at the desk at the time if they could do anything about the air conditioner. She replied that they could not as the vents were not moveable. So my husband tried his best, but when he and his silverware were absolutely frigid, I asked again, but this time to the hostess (owner) and she turned off the air conditioner and then said to us, "now the other customers will suffer." Is she for real? She went on to say, "why didn't you say something sooner" and we said we did, and were told that there was nothing that could be done. This owner lashed back at us saying WE didn't ask the right person. Again blaming us for this situation and guilting us because the other customers would suffer. Of course then my husband told her that this was her problem and not ours. So, although the food was fantastic, we will not be back. I want to remind this owner that Service and Good Hospitality are number 1. Sad. because they have an amazing chef in their kitchen, while the owner running the front can ruin it with her poor attitude. read more

Exceptional Dining Experience! (note: it is BYOB) My husband and I like to choose a new restaurant (local) every couple of months or so. Last night we found Daniel's Bistro in Point Pleasant. The Chef has done an excellent job in offering a menu that is diverse and features unique flavor combinations. We ordered the shrimp cocktail (special) and crab cake appetizers. The shrimp were tender and served on a shaved ice tower with homemade cocktail sauce. The crab cakes were the best I have ever had. There was almost no filler added to the crab meat and the flavor was out of this world. Every sauce that was served was exceptionally flavored and subtle at the same time. I ordered the diver scallops/risotto and my husband had the NY strip steak. Both meals were perfectly portioned and prepared. The meal was perfectly timed between courses and the service was "class in action" (thanks Kelly). We will be back. It is important to note that this is not an inexpensive location but the food, service and atmosphere were absolutely priced fairly. read more

In this day and age of dietary restrictions and food idiosyncrasies (no carbs, vegetarian), special requests at restaurants are becoming the norm rather than the exception. There are also those who love to exert their presence and seemingly make themselves important by making life difficult for the kitchen and ordering off menu or making serial special requests. Such requests can sometimes go too far and it is up to the each restaurant to set their limits. When evaluating a restaurant there is the holy trinity; ambiance, service and, of course, the food itself. When one of these aspects is so bad it far overshadows the others, even if they are okay or even good. this was our experience at Daniel's Bistro when the inflexibility and down right obstinance on the part of the restaurant was so extreme that I am compelled to write about it. On the evening of July 4th when ordering, we did not ask for any substitutions, nor make any request for a particular item to be cooked differently from that stated on the menu. We simply asked for the kitchen to plate two dishes differently. Our first request was to double the tuna appetizer and serve it as an entrée. This took the waitress three return trips to the kitchen and a consultation with the hostess before they grudgingly acquiesced. The second request was when our son requested that the foie gras be left off his fillet of beef. His wife to be said that she would like the foie gras and asked that it be brought on a separate plate. This was refused out of hand. My son then asked if they would place it on the side of his plate and not on top of the fillet. This was also refused with the admonition that he could simply slide it off with his knife. When he indicated that he did not want the foie gras flavoring the beef he was then told by the hostess that his only option were to take his dish with or without the foie gras and that they would not plate it any other way. He left if off, by-the way saving the restaurant a very expensive element. We were all taken aback at the inflexibility, which quickly turned into intransigence. The hostess, it seemed to us, chose this as her hill to die on. She was hostile and truculent. She actually said that perhaps we would be happier at some other restaurant. Given that it was 7:30 pm on July 4th we had little choice but to stay. When we were served our entrees my wife, quizzical as to the attitude displayed, asked the waitress if the chef was a difficult person? "Oh no" she replied, "He is a very nice guy." Karen seeing another interchange charged over and, ignoring us completely, asked the waitress "What's their problem now!" The physical premise is nondescript and bland. The service staff is very young and, while seemingly eager to please, not very well trained (one of the two tuna towers toppled over while being served). Our waitress was trying very hard and was mortified at what transpired. My oysters, while served on a bed of ice, were lukewarm at best. The pear in the pear salad was not ripe and thus hard and tasteless. The balsamic glaze/sauce served over the fillet of beef was so overly reduced that it shimmied in a Jell-O like mound. The risotto served with the duck breast was so over cooked that it had no tooth and was mushy. On the plus side the proteins were well cooked and flavorful. Obviously the ingredients were quality and there was a reasonable hand in the kitchen. As opposed to other posters who found the restaurant worthwhile, our experience was precisely the opposite. While I can understand someone having a bad day, one cannot allow this to be projected onto a diners experience in what is, in essence, a service business. With all due respect to the other comments you were not at our table that evening and experienced a level of incivility that bordered on outright rudeness. I was a partner in a major consulting firm and my son is the managing director of an international firm that has, what are arguably, the pickiest clients in the world of business - the creative directors of major advertising agencies. This is not said to brag but to indicate that we spent our professional lives providing customer service and not letting ones mood or personal problems get in the way of a clients satisfaction. Additionally we have traveled the world and eaten in virtually every domain from Michelin three star to Hong Kong street food. Thus we have just about experienced every venue and know the difference between a caring and accommodating restaurant and one that is stubborn and pretentious beyond its merit. In leaving we grossly over tipped the waitress to indicate that we did not hold her to blame for the attitude of the hostess. In one word:Phenomenal Ate here for the first time last night. Simply blown away with service, staff knowledge AND food. Started with buratta cheese and then duck for dinner. Never heard of this cheese until our incredibly kind, server, Lauren explained the difference between this and buffalo mozzarella. Dinner was a duck with risotto and spinach in a currant sauce. Spectacular! And, to top,it off I enjoyed a banana foster dessert--cooked to perfection right in front of me. My husband, started with lobster and went onto to same duck. For dessert, he had berries with Marsala sauce. Wow! Just an FYI- if you think another place on the Shore is remotely in the same league .... Think again. We will use ANY excuse to run back here. Daniel's tries to be a hip big city bistro, but it just simply isn't. The food is mediocre, the decor is bland, the service atrocious. This is a beach town, and compared to the lobster palaces, this might seem a good choice. Wrong! When in Rome...!! They're back!! Have loved Daniel's from the past, but after being wiped out by the storm we missed them during the summer. Ate here after the storm and was thrilled again. We started with a complementary tasting of asparagus soup and bruschetta. A nice small touch. I had the duck meatball special as an appetizer and loved the flavor. Spicy without being over the top. My wife had the tuna tartar which was perfect sushi grade. For dinner, the scallops with colossal crab and risotto was perfectly cooked and the scallops were the best I have had. My wife raved about the lamb entree...There was a perfect amount of timing for us, as we like to dine and not be rushed. Bananas foster dessert was almost too decadent for us, but enjoyed every bite. This is the best meal I have had at the shore in 20+ years. Saturday night was crazy busy, but they kept up pretty well. We are very fussy about restaurants, but Daniel's Bistro did not disappoint! Ingredients were fresh and delicious, and execution was perfect. We enjoyed the oyster special appetizer with caviar and a champagne shooter, and the escargot was delicious as well. For our entrees, I had the Branzino special with lump crabmeat and risotto, and my husband had the filet mignon with foie gras in a balsamic port wine reduction. Both were fantastic. For dessert we had the flourless chocolate cake and substituted coffee ice cream for the banana it is usually served with. Although I saw some reviews that were negative regarding service, our experience couldn't have been better. We can't wait to go back, as it is difficult to find food prepared this well in our area. Elegant dining without being stuffy. This is a very pleasant establishment offering excellent food and service. The Arctic Char was very nicely prepared and the Pera salad is outstanding. If you want a real treat for dessert try the fresh berries with zabaglione. Magnifico. They have done a nice decorating job and managed to keep the noise levels tolerable. We just had a wonderful dinner for our 10th wedding Anniversary at Daniel's Bistro in Point Beach! From start to finish the meal and service was top notch. To begin with they brought us from the chef a tasting of their tomato soup and bruschetta. Delicious! We ordered 2 appetizers and they split them for us without us asking them to do that. I loved that they did that! The presentation was beautiful and the food delicious. First we split the burata with tomato and aged balsamic. The burata was creamy and perfect. Then we split the seafood salad. It had that percent percent of vinegar on the seafood. I then had the cod which was very flavorful and perfectly cooked. My husband had the veal Osso Bucco. Words can't describe how delicious. We passed on dessert because we were full. They brought with the check a taste of their walnut brownie which was delicious and again very appreciated. I would definitely return. And, we brought our own champagne.(A $17 bottle which would have cost us over $100 in another restaurant. ) read more

This is such a great addition to Jersey Shore dinning! I love their osso bucco (or veal shank as Diem put it), however as anyone that orders osso bucco should know it is always well done and here at Daniel's it is done right! My wife usually orders one of their fish specials, she just loves the chilean sea bass, says it was the best she has ever had. We have been there twice! I can't wait to get back! read more

Man I forgot how much I loved this place! We were here two years ago and loved it and for some reason haven't been back since. A huge mistake on our part!!! I remember getting the stone crabs last time which were really really good and are there when they are in season! They make banana fosters and other various desserts right at the table. The owner comes over to talk to you, which I always like! Glad to know that 2 years later, this place was still super awesome! We got the escargot and duck meatballs as an appetizer. I got the scallops with amazing risotto and hubby got the Atlantic char... everything was phenomenal! I really want to come back again to try their meat too, because it looked great! They gave us a cute little bruschetta with a tiny little tomato soup as a complementary app which was so nice! They also gave us a complementary brownie for dessert! We should have been alarmed when there were only three tables filled! Our server was even more rude to us. It's BYOB, which isn't prominently displayed on their website. We went to Daniel's Bistro 2/13/14 for an early Valentine's Day dinner. The experience was overall superb! We both had the twin lobster tails and they were cooked perfectly! Tender and tasty! They also gave you little extras that added a nice touch - A taste of their soup of the day and a slice of bruschetta, some seasoned olives, and some brownies after our dessert. This place was delicious. Food was great, service was spot on. Amazing little "freebies" such as a soup tasting and dessert at the end, complimentary. Why 3 stars, may you ask? My wife ordered an 8 oz. Kobe beef special that came sliced over spinach and topped with a black truffle butter. It was a special, which didn't come with a price, so I figured it would be a touch more than the filet, which was somewhere around $40. When we got the bill, it was a $75 dollar dish. It was very good, but $75 dollars. I suppose I could blame the waitress, would mentioned nothing about it being a higher price point. Yet, as we were paying, another couple got the schpeel from another waitress, who noted that the dish was set at a higher price point. Again, food was delicious, but $75 for one dish. I've eaten at some pretty nice places but this was a bit ridiculous. Anyway, just figured I'd say beware of the specials. They seem to be a bit pricey read more

I have heard that this place is one of the best but perhaps it because it was restaurant week and a Sunday they fell short. We received a tasting of chefs soup but before we could start our appetizers also arrived. Our waiter said we should just turn our plate to give him room to leave the appetizer course. Next we wondered if there was bread since each table had olive oil. Our rolls arrived near the end of our appetizer course. The main course the pork chop and the ribeye were ok but salty and the portions were very small. Overall dinner was fair and the service was not very good. I understand that during restaurant week portions and items change but we have been out 5 times this restaurant week and have had wonderful dinners and service. Whether a romantic dinner for two or an evening out with friends who appreciate consistently well prepared and delicious meals served by a friendly, professional staff, Daniel's is always a top of the list choice. The remodeled room is comfortable and though not large, you'll actually be able to enjoy your conversation without shouting across the table to be heard. The slightly more sophisticated environment and better then normal acoustics promote a more civil decibel level, unlike some of the similarly priced finer dining options nearby like the still acoustically challenged Poached Pear or the notoriously loud Shipwreck Point. Whether fish or meat, all entrees and appetizers were presented and cooked to perfection. I had the thick and delicious grilled veal chop, and my guest raved about having the tastiest scallops dish ever (with accompanying crab risotto), which is saying a lot since scallops are one of her favorite dishes. Daniels is a BYOB, so bringing your own more then makes up for the slightly higher pricing although the food quality, service and relaxing atmosphere alone makes Daniel's more then worth every penny. read more

We had a family reunion this past weekend at my house in Bay Head, and went to Daniel's Bistro Friday night for dinner. There were 13 of us, many from out of town. This was my first time back since they moved to the larger location. To make it short, this is still the best restaurant on the Jersey Shore. The atmosphere is great and upscale. The food was outstanding. Our waitress, Courtney, was personable, knowledgeable and very attentive to our needs. The entire staff was professional and warm. Every dish was immaculately presented, and incredibly delicious. Everybody in our group was blown away. I cannot say enough about this restaurant. Bravo! With this restaurant in Point Pleasant, why go anywhere else? I will (naturally) be back! read more

Came here last Saturday night with a group of five. Things started off alright and we were promptly seated when all members of our party arrived. The menu looked really nice and our orders were taken quickly. It took a while for the bread to come out, which usually means they are preparing it to come out warm, but when it came it was pretty disappointing (choice of "oven brick" or "7 grain", neither of which were warm or well crusted). Then, everyone at our table got a small amuse bouche of tomato soup except for the one person. None of the waitstaff seemed to notice this so we had to awkwardly ask for another. After our appetizers came out, we waited about an hour to get our entrees. The restaurant was not busy or filled to capacity, and while traditional French restaurants often take a while for entrees to come out, it is usually because everything is being prepared meticulously. This wasn't the case as after an hour of waiting (with actually zero checking in from the waitstaff and no mention of where our food was), our food came out: 1) the filet was ordered medium rare and came out medium well, 2) the pasta was salty to the point of being inedible, 3) the sides to the main proteins were extremely skimpy for overpriced $30+ entrees, and 4) the components of the plates were a uncomfortable mix of warm and cold and had clearly been sitting. When the waitress came to ask how everything was, we politely mentioned the steak was overcooked, to which she asked if we wanted it recooked and we responded no (who wants to wait another whole hour?) and also sent back the pasta for being too salty to which she responded "oh, from the bacon" as if we didn't know that bacon was salty. The salt content of that dish was above and beyond what bacon could have possibly contributed. Despite being clearly unhappy, the manager suddenly was nowhere to be found until she brought us our bill and said in a weird tone that she hoped we enjoyed our meal when she obviously was aware we had issues with it. I will say that I am sure that the kitchen staff was working extremely hard to keep up with the poor management on the floor. TL;DR, I wouldn't return. read more

Food was incredible .... Just don't expect to be out of there in a timely fashion. Our dinner took about 4 hours (mind you my 8 year old Niece was with us ) . Don't order the bread - you won't ever see it, if you order salad make sure to bring spices from your own kitchen , and if you are into tap water , go next door to McDonald's and purchase a water bottle , you won't have it at Daniels! read more
