DO NOT COME HERE TO GET YOUR NAILS DONE. Super rude, but more importantly, UNHYGIENIC. So hasty and sloppy, she had to "fix" her work on EVERY nail by scraping her nail alongside mine. EVERY nail! If I wanted the germs under her nails to be scraped onto my skin I would have asked. DISGUSTING. Here's a helpful tip: if you aren't dexterous enough to paint accurately, then DON'T DO NAILS. At the very least, shell out for orange sticks to clean your messy work with. She also didn't finish off the edges, so they started chipping within less than 24 hours. Pretty nice hair salon for the city. I made an appointment same day of my hair cut. Yes it's pricey but it is Midtown. I went for a cut, wash and blowout, cost $75 plus tip( don't be stingy with the tip). Nina and Tina were great. I would go back. read more

WOOT! WOOT! AMAZING!!! I have been living in NYC for ten years and have not found a barber who can cut my hair the way i like. I always, always, always end up with a cut that is way too short. Whenever the barber pulls out the electric razor instead of scizors I know I am doomed. Three months ago I walked by Chris's on the way to the gym and I thought I would give it a try. It is the best!!! No thrills, reasonably price, and he doesn't talk your ear off! By far the best hair cut I have had since living here and I have tried many different places from barber shops to salons. Definitely a dudes place. The barber who cuts my hair looks like the spanish silver fox. His chair is the last one on the left. A plus! Will be comig back for every hair cut. Hope you enjoy. read more

After my office moved to grand central, I was looking for a new hair salon to go on weekdays around lunchtime. Found this place and was pleasantly surprised. Although it doesn't seem so based on its appearance, this is an extremely professional salon. Have been going for a year now and both Jose and Eli are excellent. Eli is my go to guy - he understands modern hair styles and does a perfect job every time. He's great for conversation as well. This place is a real hidden gem. For only $25 for a professional hair cut in midtown is a real bargain. I highly recommend! read more

I walked in without an appointment. As soon as I stepped in, I could see that it was busy but not congested. I was greeted by someone who took my coat and offered a shoe shine (though I declined the shoe shine this time). They sat me down immediately with a man named Jose who could tell the type of cut I wanted. He gave me a great fade on the sides and back and closed out with trimming my sideburns and neck with a straight razor (very old school and appreciated). The price was $25 and I gave him a $5 tip. As a guy who wants a short, simple, yet good haircut; I was very pleased. Jose was extremely meticulous and had a great eye for detail. This barbershop balances quickness and efficiency with mastery and craftsmanship. Once I told him what I wanted, I didn't have to say much else. Dropped by at 8am for a beard trim and the door was locked he wasnt quite open but he heard me and let me in. Chris was great. Efficient, quality work, and pleasant to chat with and we had a nice chat about the old countries. In and out in under 20 mins. Couldnt ask for me more! Chris was great. After years of bouncing around the city looking for a good cut, I stumbled upon Nina at Danneli Salon. She's great and I always walk out with a perfect haircut. And between the straight razor and warm towel finish, it feels more like a spa treatment than your run-of-the-mill barber shop. read more

I'm a walk-in, not appointment, guy at barber shops, so this place doesn't work for me. After 4 months, I'm done. The problem is when you walk in, you won't get the (by the other reviews) good barbers. You get Eva. She gives the hands down worst haircut, and is very consistent with that. My hair currently looks like a fuzz ball because it's cut at different lengths and has a ton of split ends (I didn't even know what those were besides things in shampoo commercials before now). Advice to the barber shop: don't employ secondary barbers that aren't up to your standards. Advice to other patrons: call and get an appointment with Chris. read more

Nice people but the salon is pretty outdated and I just can't recommend this place for a blow out. I have barely shoulder-length hair and was charged $40 for a very crappy and lazy wash and dry. The whole thing took 15 minutes from beginning to end, if that. Nina was very sweet but lazy, not even sectioning my hair - literally just running a hairbrush through it while pointing a blow dryer at it and then spraying it with hairspray. I could have done a better job at home for free. Also, it is sweltering hot in there because they have no AC (apparently due to building construction but c'mon get a couple of fans!). They also have a bit of a fly problem and I sat in a chair with hair all over it because they didn't bother to clean it from the last client. My hair is now super frizzy from the heat and haphazard blow dry - it was like throwing $40+ tip straight into the garbage. Ridiculous. For what it's worth, the salon looks like it belongs in a strip mall in Staten Island and the clientele is all old white men. Buyer beware. read more

Great place for a men's work-day haircut. I have been going to Olivia for years now and I always come out looking (and feeling) like a million bucks. She has great attention to detail, and has lots of finishing products to choose from (she introduced me to American Crew pomade). Highly recommended if you are a local or a visitor to this friendly shop. A++ PS: You can usually get in the same day, so not much advance notice is required, which is great! read more

I travel frequently and often last minute. Because of this I rarely get my hair cut by the same person. I walked in yesterday without an appointment for a color touch up and quick cut.
