I love this place, I know the whole "old school" barbershop is all the rage these days but not all places get it right. Danny's offer an upscale laid back vibe that I dig. They have a ton of flat screen TVs which come in handy when you don't want to miss out on a game. They offer free wifi which is a nice classy touch, the password is on display unlike most places where you have to give up your first born. My husband and son have been coming here for a while now and they swear by Junior. Now I know you don't know my son but that's one picky sob and to have him ask me to take him back to specifically get his haircut by Junior is a high kudos. Junior always does a solid job, he knows exactly what you want and hooks it up every time. I'm pretty positive this guy has a PHD in cutting hair! All and all I wouldn't waste my time with high prices of some of the other big name barbershops when Danny's offers what you need and some. The only thing that would put this place over the top is to offer a free beer with your haircut!! Now we're talkin'! Update to my previous review: My husband went for a haircut and got an older Caucasian lady who basically buzzed his hair when he specifically asked for a trim. Initially I didn't mention that in my previous review because I thought it was probably a fluke. Fast forward to today and the same lady gave him a semi decent haircut and offered to trim his eyebrows only to cut the left one almost all the way off. Danny reached out to me after my husband was there last time and apologized for the experience. My husband had to wait for his hair to grow out of course and he went back yesterday. Danny recognized him immediately and was extremely apologetic about the whole situation. Apparently the woman who ruined my husband's hair isn't there anymore so that's a plus. Has a waiting area and pool table with sports on TV. The atmosphere is great and the prices are really spot on. I have recommended this place to buddies in the area and would suggest if you haven't come before to give it a shot. Worst haircut i've ever gotten, and i've gotten some terrible haircuts before. None of them this level of awkward or ugly. To start off the service was abnormal. The chairs didn't face towards the mirrors so you couldn't see or make adjustments to your hair during the haircut. The haircut itself was terrible. I asked for one inch off the top (i have long,coily/curly hair) and he ended cutting nearly 3 inches, my hair used to go to my cheeks. now it's at my eyebrows. inexperienced barber who i couldn't catch the name of and terribly formatted barbershop. don't go here. read more

Loyal customer for 5 years but after the bad experience today, I won't be coming back. Drove 45 minutes got in line 20 minutes before closing (appointments not available on weekends)1 person ahead of me and my barber wouldn't take me for a quick 10 minute line-up. Even after we said we drive 45 minutes just to get this barber, they would not make an exception. If I'm a loyal customer, the least I expect is loyalty in return. Very disappointed. I stopped him and told him that I can't use that, that I needed the straight razor. He then proceeds to tell me "I'm not a barber, I'm a cosmetologist. I can use a Bic razor." WTF?!! So, I go up to the guy at the front and ask him why he would put me with someone who can't shave with a straight razor. He says, "I don't know what you get when you come here. I'll have to put you with someone else." So, he puts me with a guy who clearly smokes cigarettes (I could smell it on his hand) and who was coughing up a storm! He didn't even wash his hands as he's touching my head and face! Disgusting! So, I get done and am thinking SURELY they will discount today's visit! NOPE! I was STILL charged $42! My first visit to Danny's today was awesome! It has been a long time since I have been satisfied with a cut that didn't cost me more than $30. Jerry gave a great cut, shaped and trimmed my mountain man beard, and even went after my eyebrows, which are notorious for being party animals while I sleep. He also gave me a nice hot shave to the back of my neck. The shop is classy and large. Not so cramped feeling like the chain places. Everyone was extremely nice. I walked in on Saturday morning around 930ish and waited for a little bit on the super comfy, leather couch, and watched the pregame sports highlights. If the TVs aren't doing it for you, you can always setup a game of pool to pass the time while you wait. Danny's will definitely be my new regular place, can't wait to go back. Those chain places always manage to butcher and chop my hair, and it takes me months to get it back to normal, and another month of hesitation that they will do it again. When I walked in I was amazed by the inside of the barbershop, and was thinking if its this nice inside and the reviews are good then I should get a pretty good haircut. I waited maybe 10 minutes for name to get called and the gentleman that was about to cut my hair asked how I wanted my hair to be cut. I said low fade with a somewhat of a fohawk combed forward, and take an inch off the top. As I'm sitting there I'm looking across from me and there is a guy and a girl barber. The guy barber went through 3 men haircuts for the 30-40 minute haircut I got, and the lady had 2 customers which gave a horrible hi fade haircut to her first customer whom left a line that didn't blend at all. I couldn't believe what I was seeing! But the gentleman cutting my hair seemed confident and hands were steady. From afar I thought he was cutting my hair right. He even was doing the thinning of my side burns, which was surprising because most barbers do not know how to do them. Close to the end of the cut I started to realize he was using the clippers a little too high on my hair and then he started to use scissors on my "fade". At that time I remember my brother, a barber, had told me if there is anyone who uses scissors for a fade has not been a barber for long or not one a barber at all. I can feel him cutting the front of my hair shorter and shorter. At the end he handed me the mirror and was like tell me what you think. I freaked out! No fade, hair was uneven, and no fohawk! I wanted to tell him just shave it off but I thought it'll grow back by the end of month, and I'll go back to my regular barber down South. This place is not a barbershop this is a salon! People here DO NOT know how to do fades and one of them does not take his time to cut hair. I have been to a lot of barber shops in Austin and this one has to be the nicest one of all they have leather seats where you cut your hair. They also have a pool table and a very nice big screen TV right in front of where you sick. Aside from that I'd say the haircut was mediocre usually when I go into a barber shop I expect to be there at least 30 minutes to get everything done. From all my haircut experience I can't say I trust a barber who gives a 15 minute haircut. Needless to say I will continue to search for the best barber shop in town. read more

The wait is usually under 10 mins. This place is top notch. Danny and Pop have been cutting my hair for ten years now. They've cut my son's hair since he was a baby. They remember your name and treat you like family. I feel like every time I come here we just pick up on our last conversation and just keep going. The new location is baller. They have TVs, shuffle board, pool, toys and books for the kids. I decided to try this place out because it was a Saturday and I couldn't deal with the wait at Floyd's again. Went in for an Ivy League and a beard trim, and David Camacho did a great job. He took his time making sure all the angles and edges were exact. The TVs behind the chairs were a nice perk--got to watch basketball instead of staring at the row across from me. Edit: a few days into this new cut, and I have to say I'm impressed with the beard trim. He really got it looking angular, where most other barbers leave it looking pretty rounded. I was searching for actual barber shops instead of just "haircut places" and found this place. I checked out the reviews and the pics and believed this was the one for me. I had gone to Birds and Finley's and the like for a while but hadn't quite found my place. I wanted to be able to go to a barber shop where I can just give a few guidelines and have the barber take over from there. Without having to be super specific or provide pictures. I just moved to Austin and was looking for a barber that I could visit each time I needed a haircut, I always time myself from the moment I sit down and time the cut ends, I have never had a haircut that only took 7 min unbelievable... from the moment I walked in and how 2 other guys didn't want to cut my hair and then passed me along to some lady who obviously didn't want to be there and then laughed at her as she had to cut my hair, the lady wasn't welcoming didn't talk to me the whole time I was in the chair, she just asked what I wanted and started buzzing away not even using Scissors once.. I have had longer more detailed cuts from welcoming Barbers that actually cared for 15 bucks. Spending 30 bucks for a 7 min cut that they didn't even care. On top of that I had to go to the restroom and style my own hair because she didn't want to offer to style nor use gel. I will not be coming back and would recommend anyone look for another barber. I can't believe I actually paid 30 bucks for this, I would rather go to sports clips and that's sad. read more

The best haircut and environment in town!! I am a busy business owner and father of three, so getting a good haircut without a long wait is a must and Danny's always gives me a five star service. I am not sure what Bryan H is talking about when he gives a one star review because his feelings got hurt at barber shop over a comment. I get my haircut from Nikki( the part owner) and I am middle eastern and could never see how a reviewer could turn a Great haircut into a politician review. Bryan, if you get your feelings hurt so much, maybe you should go to Great clips and get a crappy haircut and not get your feelings hurt. .......back to the review. The place is always spotless, the prices are amazing, and they never try to sell you products you don't need. I've wanted to get my haircut at a barber shop for awhile, but usually end up going to a salon or a quick hair-cut place chain. I've lived in Austin a year and a half, and usually only get my haircut every few months. My sister is a stylist back in Milwaukee so I've been trying to find a place to go around here. I looked on Yelp for a nice barbershop and found Danny's. I live in NW Austin so this was an easy 15 minute drive. I walked in without an appointment on a Saturday morning last weekend and was immediately greeted by Gregory. He invited me over to his chair and I told him I was just looking for a cut - nothing specific! Gregory was amazing. Aside from a really great cut, to which he took his time and did a fantastic job, the conversation we had was fun. I explained to him how I am moving back to Milwaukee over the holidays and that lead our conversation to discuss Austin, Milwaukee, relationships, dogs, etc. It was really comfortable and enjoyable. While I'm quite the social guy, normally when I go in to get my haircut at other places, the conversation gets stale or awkward after awhile when there is nothing left to say. However, with Gregory, we didn't skip a beat for the whole 30+ minutes I was in the chair. Even with a squawking little toddler next to us getting a cut (poor little guy!), Gregory was able to continue on. I highly recommend checking this place out.
