Came in for 1/2 price pizza Monday. Service was slow, but it was the servers second day (who puts a poor girl on her second day for a crazy night like that?!) but I digress... We waited 10 minutes before we saw our newly minted server for the first time who then got our drinks and took our pizza order (we were sure to get it in fast since she had been MIA). Forever later our pizza showed up and even though we had asked for fresh spinach it showed up with what was clearly Popeye style canned. However, lots of cheese and a crispy crust. First the food and then the service. Pizza: really amazing. The clove garlic is so delicious, I order it as often as I can as a topping. The cheeseburger pizza is so so. So many pickles can be overwhelming and the american cheese under the mozzarella cheese can be off putting. It's not so good second day, it's so salty. BBQ baby back ribs: decent. The sauce is almost too sweet. It doesn't taste like any kind of BBQ sauce I've ever had, I can't identify the flavors. Hot wings: holy crap that's hot!!!! So flavorful and will sear your lips off! Lasagna: my favorite so far. Perfectly cooked pasta, delicious meat sauce and the cheese is amazing. Tiramisu: MUST HAVE! Creamy! Light! Big helping! Not overwhelmed by any particular ingredient! Perfect blend! I could live on this stuff. The service has been great every time. Very helpful staff when I eat there, get it to go or delivery. The quality of Danny's is fantastic, if you really like cheese. They put about the same amount of cheese on a thin crust as many places put on a deep dish. Seriously, the first time I picked up a pizza here I thought they had given me deep dish by mistake. They don't offer a lot of adventurous pre-made combinations by they so have a very wide variety of toppings for you to make there own. If you're eating there, they often have live music and regularly have a modest but respectable selection of craft beers. ***WARNING: BEWARE OF THIS PLACE*** We walked in and right away there was an odd smell. I would later find out it was the bathrooms. They look like they hadn't been cleaned for days. We waited an hour and had to ask where our food was. We were told it was coming in five minutes. We waited 5 minutes and then left. The cook was busy getting hammered, his words not mine. Instead of getting our orders out he was getting drunk. A man who could have been the manager or owner was to busy giving away drinks to 3 young women and they got their food before us. The pizza has too much cheese on it, the sauce is incredibly bland, and the pizza overall tastes bland, and I wouldn't even waste your time on buying a sandwich there. Went to Danny's on Douglas tonight. Not our first time there, but unfortunately our worst experience. First, the hostess offered us the table right next to her station. We hesitated as we really didn't want to sit that close to the door as it's cold out. Another person suggested she seat us elsewhere, but instead she was like "Are you sure you can't just sit here". So we gave in and did. There were other tables open; we could have even waited for one. Next we order our drinks and appetizers. Our waitress, brings our drinks. Shortly after, brings our appetizers, only one was the wrong order. She places it down on our table, says she's going to check with the kitchen, then comes back takes it and says it's for another customer. She never should have left it sitting on our table as the holding spot. Finally get that corrected, then have to ask for napkins, plates and silverware. Really?!? Our pizza comes, she refills one person's drink and we didn't see her again until we were done. The sad part is, there were not many customer's. I understand staff has other cleaning responsibilities at the end of the night, but customer's should come first. It was an unfortunately poor experience. read more

Nice and laid-back atmosphere, good food and drinks, and great live entertainment! Everything that I've ordered on my several visits has been good, I haven't had any issues w/ flat or skunky beers, which is refreshing. Service isn't the best, but not the worst that I've experienced either. Love the fact that there is live entertainment, often for no cover. Also really like the fact that they have a REAL stage instead of cramming performers into a corner somewhere...you can actually see them, yet aren't on top of them. I'm not sure what to say except for it was horrible. What everyone has been saying about Danny's is true. The food was not good. I wish I took a picture of the boneless wings. We weren't even sure what they were. They look basically took the batter from the bottom of their deep fryer and threw it in a container with no sauce. Yes, they forgot wing sauce and our French Fries. I went back to see what I could do and they made me a new order. They actually delivered it next door to The Haight as we were at an outdoor event. That was nice. After opening my new order, the boneless wings were still weird. Drenched in sauce and nothing to pick them up with. No napkins, the fries had no salt and they were barely cooked, no ketchup. Like there was nothing. I will not be heading back to Danny's anytime soon. read more

Awful service..took an hour for mini corn dogs...which they burnt the first time. Put our pizza in a to go box then cut it out and served it to us on a silver tray. Try to cut a piece (cuz you couldn't tell it was even cut) and the pizza slides off the tray...the manager was rude and in my face. Whoop dee do he took off the corn dogs. We have ordered from danny literally hundreds of times over the last 20 years. Two times ago the messed up out pizza order and we chalked it up to an anomaly. Last time, they forgot sandwiches on our delivery order. This time we called and were issued a $15 credit. Tonight I tried to call and apply that to our order. The woman on the phone said she couldn't find any note of it, and refused to let us use it. Seriously? Hundreds of orders over the last 20 years and she implies we would lie about a $15 credit? How insulting. After asking to speak to a manager, she stated she was the manager. If this is how Dannys is run these days, Dannys has just lost a lifetime customer. When you walk in it's not very pretty, but the pizza makes up for it. Lots of seating a bit noisy but not overwhelming. The service was great and the pizza was delicious, but the kitchen was very slow. It's really good quality and I realize that it takes a few extra minutes for that quality...... however.... after 1 hour and 30 minutes our server tells us they gave our pizza to another table and we could wait for another pizza but would take an hour. They gave us our small gluten free pizza for free but made us pay for our fried mushrooms. The manger never came over. I will probably go back but fingers crossed it doesn't take forever to get a pizza and they don't give it to someone else. Not sure who is in charge but it seems very unorganized. Pizza is great. I would give more stars, but have had some negative service issues and the atmosphere has some problems. Tonight, went as a group and one of the people in the group went into the restaurant ahead of the others. When the rest of us came in, he was standing at a table, so we walked over to the table. A moment later, a staff person came over to say "you know you have to wait to be seated" in a very condescending manner. When I turned and said, he was already seated, she responded, "OK, OK no need to get upset." On top of this we are having to yell at one another, because the volume on the TV's was so loud. They need to get some sound tiles suspended from the ceiling to absorb some of the noise. I am writing this, because I am really tired of being chastised and treated like a child when I am frequenting a place to pay them to give me service. What has happened to the customer is always right? In this economy, you would think that mantra would mean even more. Other issues were calling for delivery; I've attempted to call for delivery on 2 different occasions. The first time, I was hung up on and the second time they put me on hold for almost 10 minutes.
