The tables and had the best playlist going 70's Soul Music

Was in Charleston over the weekend and found this little place and was blown away by the service the atmosphere and especially the Garden Philly Cheesesteak. This was the best Philly Cheesesteak I have ever tasted. I'm a sauce guy but this did not need any help whatsoever purely delicious!!!!!

Had the Fish Poboy and Cajun fries here. The restaurant has a few tables and each table can accommodate a small group of people. Fish is freshly fried although a bit dry. The spiced mayo sauce on the Poboy was spectacular. Bread is probably a hoagie roll instead of a French baguette. Cajun fries are well seasoned and crispy. Friendly staff. Near the waterfront. Nice casual atmosphere. Overall pretty good value.

Killer Philly Cheese steak, great lemonade, friendly/helpful staff! Glad we popped in here for a late lunch. Wish they had free waters because we were thirsty from walking around but otherwise loved it.

Everyone loves a simple, classic philly. Danny's is in the old Domino's building on East Bay; this is a convenient location (next to the Harry T) so you can pick up some odds and ends AND take out all in one run. What a menu! Wings, phillies, and even some Vietnamese dishes. We ordered the Pepper Steak. We loved the heat (jalepeno's), roll, and how tightly the philly was packed and easy to eat. We'd like to compliment Danny's on maintaining a reasonable price point in such uncertain industry times. And hey, Danny knows sauces! Check out the pic. Our main feedback would be to tidy up the dining room and bathroom. Yes, we understand that Danny's is mostly a carry out, business. While waiting for our order, we asked for some restroom "refills" and were ignored. Of course, we'll give Danny's (and his wings) another chance.

Came back for round two and unfortunately the quality went downhill. It started when I called to place my order and the person on the other end wasn't sure how to place an order for pickup without taking the order from someone in person. Not such a big deal but they ended up getting the order wrong and we got small steaks instead of large which is a big difference. Then when I dug into the food, the sandwiches were so light on the steak... nothing like my last visit. It still had good flavor but the sandwich was probably half as full. The fries and onion rings were standard frozen and bland. Not sure I'll be back. It's disappointing becuase the first time you could tell there were some issues, but the steaks were really great.

    Chicken egg roll

I have no ideas how my egg roll taste because it was burnt to the crisp. My first time trying this place.

Sweet chili Wing Sauce, Pork Fried Rice, Cajun Fries

Service is always great here! 10/10 highly recommend! Food is always hot and fresh! Best phillys in the Charleston area as well!

Order delivery thru grubhub. The food was good, however we received the wrong appetizer. Order corn nuggets and received cheese curds.

From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a high-energy, friendly host staff that immediately made us feel welcome and set the tone for the evening. I started with the Prince Edward Island oysters on the half shell, which were fresh and excellent. My wife enjoyed the grass-fed filet mignon, while I ordered the 45-day dry-aged ribeye. Both steaks were outstanding - incredible flavor, perfectly prepared, and exceptionally tender. The experience went far beyond just the food. One of the owners, Billy, introduced himself and then personally brought over two glasses of champagne to congratulate us on our anniversary, which was a very thoughtful gesture (even though my wife doesn't drink alcohol and champagne isn't my preference). The restaurant manager also made a point to stop by and congratulate us. Our server, Aidy (pronounced "eighty"), was awesome. Extremely knowledgeable of the menu, attentive, and genuinely enjoyable throughout the evening. As is tradition at Halls, they brought out and displayed the various cuts of steak while explaining the characteristics of each - a great touch that added to the experience. We ordered the mashed potatoes and the pepper jack creamed corn skillet for sides, both excellent. Dessert was the perfect finish: vanilla crème brûlée and whiskey bread pudding. One thing that really stood out was how well orchestrated the entire restaurant operation felt. From the hosts, to the servers, to the managers and support staff, everyone worked together seamlessly to create a polished and memorable dining experience. The staff worked hard, and each person clearly knew and performed their role perfectly. It was impressive! The dining room itself had a loud, energetic vibe that added to the atmosphere of the evening and fit the overall Halls experience perfectly. Honestly, there's not much we could have asked to be better. Halls delivered an exceptional dining experience all the way around.

So much so that we came back for brunch the very next morning before hitting the road back to Atlanta. Dinner started with the dressed oysters and I'm still thinking about them. Grape and caviar on an oyster? Absolute genius. Light, briny, luxurious - they set the tone perfectly. The milk bread that followed was pillowy and buttery, the kind you have to resist devouring before your entrée arrives. For mains, I had the salmon and my partner had the grouper. Both were phenomenal. The salmon was perfectly seared with a gorgeous crust and sat in a dreamy herb cream sauce dotted with roe. The grouper was equally impressive, plated with confidence and cooked beautifully. The creamed spinach on the side was rich and satisfying without being heavy. The Eat, Slay, Love cocktail was a spiced (not spicy!) surprise: warm, complex, and completely unique. Brunch the next day? Just as impressive. We doubled down on the dressed oysters because there was no way we were leaving without them again. He had the shaved ham Benedict and I had the fish sandwich. Both were excellent. This place is firing on all cylinders, morning and night. Already planning the next Charleston trip around a return visit.

Two years ago, this dish was a spectacular highlight--served paper-thin over a velvety Robuchon-style potato purée with finishing salt, presented beautifully by the chef, GM, and waiter. It literally melted in your mouth. This time, the execution completely failed. While the chef presented the authenticity certificate, tracking back to a genuine Japanese Kuroge Washu animal , the actual cut of meat was sliced far too thick, resembling a thin NY sirloin with a heavy, unpeeled fat cap on the side. They took a world-class, premium imported A5 loin and completely ruined it . True A5 should never require a steak knife, but this cut did. In addition, the Robuchon-style potatoes have been changed out to a lower-quality substitute. To make matters worse, when I asked where the finishing salt was, I was told that the finishing salt was removed from the presentation. At this price point, a kitchen cannot afford to cut corners on execution and basic seasoning. I will return to Burwell's for their standard steakhouse classics, but I will never spend money on their premium Wagyu again.

The restaurant itself is lovely in a historic setting with 3 floors and a lot of classic, traditional touches. First things first, the service was wonderful. We had a reservation and were immediately sat by the hostess and greeted by our server. He gave us recommendations and told us half orders of the sides were available since it was only my husband and I. We had a glass of rose and a glass of red, nothing special but what you expect and at a place like this you expect to pay $15/glass. We ordered the New York strip, half orders of Brussels and mushrooms and the steak frites with truffle fries and bernaise sauce. The steaks were cooked very well which was great (it is a steakhouse), but honestly just tasted like pepper. The bernaise sauce was watery, cold and flavorless. The Brussels had some flavor, but nothing to knock your socks off and pretty much the same with the mushrooms. Honestly, the star of the show were the truffle fries. Crispy, lots of flavor and hot. You obviously have higher expectations when coming into an establishment such as Oak and sadly it let me down. There's other fabulous restaurants in Charleston and honestly other steakhouses I'd recommend. I'm glad we tried it, but I won't be rushing back.

The scallops and pork chop were some of the best we've had. The only slightly disappointing dish was the corn bread which was on the more dry side, however the collards more than made up for it. The only downside to this restaurant were the flies, I felt like I was battling both large and fruit flies my entire meal. There were so many. First Visit to Husk -- Worth Every Bit of the Hype…read more After hearing so much about Husk over the years, we finally made our first visit--and somehow it still exceeded every expectation. Housed in a beautifully restored historic Charleston home, Husk perfectly captures everything you love about the city's charm. From the moment you walk through the doors, the atmosphere feels warm, elegant, and inviting. We were seated upstairs in a gorgeous dining room where the tables were thoughtfully spaced, making the experience feel intimate rather than crowded. The hospitality was outstanding from start to finish, but our server, Chris, truly made the evening unforgettable. He welcomed us with genuine enthusiasm and, after taking our cocktail orders, walked us through the menu--which changes daily. Rather than simply listing dishes, Chris described each one in detail, explaining the flavors, ingredients, and preparations with such passion that you couldn't help but get excited about every option. It's rare to meet someone who so clearly loves what they do, and his knowledge and personality elevated our entire dining experience. We started with the Yellowfin Tuna Crudo and the Woodfired Oysters. The tuna, paired with delicate slices of cantaloupe, sounded like an unusual combination on paper, but somehow it was absolute perfection. Every bite was fresh, bright, and beautifully balanced. The oysters arrived warm, buttery, and perfectly seasoned--simple, yet incredibly satisfying. For my entrée, I ordered the Seared Diver Scallops served over creamed corn. I'll admit, I was hesitant because creamed corn has never been one of my favorites. But after Chris encouraged me to trust the dish--and after seeing how incredible the appetizers were--I went for it. I'm so glad I did. The scallops were perfectly seared, tender, and sweet, while the creamed corn was rich, fresh, and nothing like the version I had imagined. It completely changed my mind. My husband chose the Rabbit Roulade, which was cooked beautifully with just the right amount of spice to keep each bite interesting without overwhelming the dish. We also shared the Hearth-Baked Skillet Cornbread, and if you're debating whether to order it...don't. Just do it. It's absolutely worth it. Then came dessert. Chris walked us through several tempting options, including a mud pie, a watermelon ice pie, and a peach cobbler, along with Husk's house-made ice creams featuring flavors like Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie (plus a refreshing fruit sorbet). We settled on the Peach Cobbler along with scoops of the Chocolate Peanut Butter and Key Lime Pie ice creams. Every single bite was phenomenal. The cobbler tasted like summer in a bowl, while both ice creams were so flavorful and creamy that we kept passing them back and forth trying to decide which one we liked better. Spoiler alert: we never could. From the stunning historic setting and exceptional service to the thoughtfully crafted food, Husk delivered an experience that reminded us why Charleston has become such an incredible food destination. If Husk has been sitting on your "one day" list, consider this your sign. Make the reservation. Trust your server. Order dessert. And enjoy every single bite.
