Currently posted up outside the Golden Gopher next to another truck so you have plenty of options. I'm on an Al Pastor tour so I got three of those and my friend got the loaded nachos. Tacos came squished and wrapped on a styrofoam tray covered with plastic wrap. I make a point of this because we travelled with our food back to the hotel and this caused the tortillas to steam and therefore not have that crisp exterior to hold the filling. They also included lemons instead of limes. I prefer the squeeze of lime. I'm also noticing that Al Pastor with pineapple just might not be a thing here in LA because this is the third round at different places that did not include it. I have been going to Danny's tacos for 15 years. I love their pastor until tonight. The tacos they gave me had tiny bits of dried up burnt meat. Not even sure is was pastor but I couldn't eat it. I came here because i had 15 minutes to kill. 4 tacos (2 asada, 2 pastor) set me back $13.00. It's a bit steep for a taco truck if you ask me, but everything is going up in price these days. The tacos were just ok. The salsas were better than the tacos, to be honest. I had to ask for 1 green one as i was only given 1 red one. My tip is to ask for green and red salsas prior to leaving. The truck was how most taco trucks look in Los Angeles, if you know what i mean. Service was quick, and communication was efficient. There is no salsa bar or napkins outside the truck, so whatever they give you is what they give you. I had better tacos, but if your in a jam and need a quick bite, this won't disappoint or please. Came here late at night after hitting up a bar. It was close to my friends place and my friend suggested this spot. Ordered a few tacos to-go and my friend actually heated the tacos in the stove. The tacos were solid but I will admit I was no sober so I think anything would have been delicious at that moment. So I wanted some simple chips and salsa. There was one woman sitting in the front seat on her phone. I had to ask her to help. I requested chips and salsa, I saw her grab this box and use her bare hands (not washed after sitting up front using her phone). Pulled about one handful of chips and two scoops Of salsa. Only tried the carne asada street tacos and the horchata, but both were so good! Nothing like a good taco truck for a late night meal. Went after a Lakers game, it was one block down from Staples center. Not sure if they are there regularly or not, they were gone the next morning. All three salsas were good. Pepe and his brother Jose Jose are horrible. They act like they're helping you and they really know they're about to take a vantage of you. They will recommend whatever... but they know that their food sucks and is expensive. We ordered a steak sandwich that was $15 and there was very very little meat. The meat was as thin as paper but the lettuce was as thick as a chapter book. And we also ordered taquitos with a tablespoon of meat for four taquitos and a tablespoon of beans on the side. Unfortunately we weren't impressed. The carnitas was good, but about average. Same for the chorizo. The carne asada wasn't good. The prices are ok if you just really need tacos and don't want to go elsewhere. And there's not usually a long wait here by the looks of it. All that said, I'd recommend going elsewhere. read more

We stopped by Danny's Tacos before heading to the Novo Theater for a concert. The taco truck is conveniently located next to LA Live, but I would recommend walking there instead of attempting to park anywhere near it. There were a lot of options on the menu, but I just stuck with what I knew and ordered two carne asada tacos. Sadly, they did not have flour tortilla, only corn, which was a bummer. The carne asada was well seasoned and tasted pretty good. Condiments were placed in front of the truck for customers to serve themselves. There was also a bottle of hand sanitizer, which I really appreciated. Overall, Danny's Tacos is decent for a food truck. However, I had to order a certain dollar amount in order to use my credit card. If you want only two tacos, make sure you bring cash! read more

It's 2:15 AM on a early Saturday morning and you stepped out The Varnish and The Association having devoured rounds of cocktails. You and everyone else in your party are hungry but don't want to drive and wait for food at Koraku, Fred 62, Canter's, or Won Kok. Nor do you want pay for that overrated, overpriced sandwich at Cole's. Instead you want something right away to dash off and head straight home. It's a typical weekend early Saturday morning scene of drunkness. Girls way too drunk in 6" heels looking like they're walking on a tight rope 100' up in the air and ready to break their ankle as two others are holding them up. There's some guy sitting on the curb ready to blow chunks with his buddies looking after him and one buddy trying to hail a cab. Right next to him is a roach coach that has "Danny's Tacos" written all over it. The menu is real basic: tacos, burritos, tostadas, or mulitas with choices of carne asada, carnitas, cabeza, or chicken. There's panhandlers looking on asking for change. One guy on a bike riding backwards (that's talent!) with a boombox in one hand talking to everyone claiming he's was in Dre's and Snoop's Aint Nothing But a G-Thang Video 20+ years ago. Right next to him is Danny who's taking orders from customers. Danny is a cool guy. He's edgy working that LA Doyers cap backwards with a slight side tilt. Seems to know everyone or appears to know some regulars. You order a few carne asada tacos and mulitas from Danny for your group of friends. Danny hooks you up with an extra mulita just because he's cool like that. He doesn't charge much and the food comes out quick. Within a few minutes, you get your bag of grub. You thank Danny with an arm hug and throw out your fist for a pound promising to come back again. You get home and tear into that mulita which by the way is similar to a quesadilla. It's a taco sandwich of corn tortillas, meat, Mexican cheese, onions, cilantro, and guacamole grilled both sides till it's crisp. It's delicious and perfect late night snack. Drop a multi vitamin in so you don't get a hangover when you get up at lunch time. Just remember to come back to Danny cause you promised him you would and you're now best friends. 3.5 Stars My sis and I stumbled upon this after the Lakers got whooped by the Clippers, last game of the regular season...go figure. We ordered an asada and pollo taco and one carnitas mulita. The tacos were pretty good, but not the tastiest tacos I've had. The star was the mulita, with the fresh handmade tortillas, lots of cheese and carnitas inside. I loved how some of the cheese was coming out of the tortilla and on to the grill, it was cooked to a nice crisp. We also got an horchata which was ok but they put too much ice in the cup. If I end up near the Staples Center I wouldn't mind coming back here for another mulita. read more

Stopped me last night to try this truck and I regret it heavy. $13 for a carne asada burrito with cheese. I say rice.and easy carne extra well done. You always have to check out the local taco truck. I want to say that the hours listed are accurate, but it does seem to fluctuate. One things for sure-- they're open late. Something unique about this truck is that they hand press their tortillas to order which is pretty uncommon at your typical side-of-the-road joints. Prices are a tad bit higher than others (understandable) but they aren't far off. I can only speak on the carne asada and al pastor. They're consistently good with good char. I normally order the carne asada fries, which equates to McDonald fries (similar), beans, meat, cheese, sour cream, pico de Gallo, an slices of avocado. It's decent for $9, and the portion is fairly large. Note that tacos ordered to-go do not have onions and cilantro. You will have to grab that yourself next to heir delicious sauces (the green cilantro one is my fave). I've noticed that the female employees are more friendly than the men, but I may have just come on a bad day. Either way, it's worth a visit! read more

A little pop up cart located on the corner of 7th & Olive, Dannys Tacos is one of those places that I always walk by on my way to Louies and was always told was amazing! To Go Order // - 3 mulitas (fresh, fluffy - great fillings and the masa was super yummy!) - carne asada quesadilla (biggest quesadilla I've ever seen with obscene amount of cheese, not that I'm complaining, and the asada was cut up just enough were you didn't feel like you were tugging. Greasy goodness... and did I mention the tortillas are homemade?) The wait might take a while but thats because anything you wrap your food in is homemade and fresh - stand back and watch them make their tortillas and what not. Honestly shocked that this place has a 3.5 star rating. How?? This place is a 5+++++. Drunken nights wanting late night food and not wanting to drive...walk right up to Danny's. $3 shrimp tacos (they use the good kind of shrimp too!!!), the best quesadillas and they have two great salsas. The dark one is spicy AF but has such a special feisty kick to it! The creamy green one is some sort of avocado salsa. Mix em right up and you got the right combo of fiery cool. On the weekends sometimes they have a sweet man standing outside with pastor on a skewer that he cuts special for you...I've even seen pineapple on that thing! I don't eat meat, but my BF swears by it and the Asada tacos. Pretty cheap, we leave there spending about $15. Heck some night you even go back for seconds since they are open so late! 3:30am on the weekends!!! Danny's is always there when you need it. It has never let me down.
