Okay, I live in South Florida where there is an abundance of Cuban food and Dan's did not disappoint. We started out with the Mariquitas and they were good with a nice garlic sauce. At the suggestion of my sister, I ordered the Chicken Madiera (?) which was like a marsala. I would have enjoyed my chicken more if it had been pounded a little thinner but that's just me. The dish was flavorful. I wanted beans and white rice but they were out of white rice which I understands happens often. I ordered yellow but I really wanted white rice. They do not offer beer/wine. As done at home, I almost expected some cuban bread to be brought to the table which was not offered. I would return and if the food is as good and white rice is available, I would probably bump the review to a 5 star. read more

An amazing surprise to encounter truly good authentic Cuban food in the mountains of Georgia. 33 years in Orlando with a fair amount of business travel to South Florida. I have had my share of Cuban cuisine. Dans rocks! His quality control of incoming ingredients and finished product is spot on. He must change his cooking oil daily. I have unfortunately gotten my palate tuned to picking up that bitter aftertaste when people use there oil too long. Never had a hint of it here. Personally my favorite is his slow roasted pork. A very clean light Mojo flavor paired with melt in your mouth pork. read more

Since then I have not found a restaurant that duplicated the Steak with pile high fries on top until Dan's Grill, In Blairsville Georgia. The Steak and Fries were awesome. Local friends introduced me to Dan's and now I came back on my own! I love this restaurant and owners! Truly reminds me of food I grew up with in Miami. Their medium rare skirt steak melts in your mouth! Their lobster bisque is creamy and perfectly seasoned, and next time I will order extra to-go since they only make it certain days of the week (Fridays for sure). The chimichurri sauce and garlic sauce are above average and add to the meal! Cafe con leche was awesome, but I cheated and added sugar, that's how I was allowed to drink it as a kid with sugar, milk and a little expresso. So glad Blairsville has attracted a gem like this... I will become a regular! Is Blairsville going to attract more restaurants/ bars / taverns on the square that stay open at night and are open on Sundays? read more

Cuban food in the mountains of North Georgia. Clearly we're a group willing to take risks. But a quick perusal of yelp reviews assured us that we weren't going to die, so we decided to give it a shot. We're still patting ourselves on the back. Fantastic food, great service. I had the churrasco (steak) with plaintains and fried yukka. Loved the steak. Turns out I was eating it wrong and it even came with a lesson on how to eat it. (Hint: don't dip in the sauce, dig into it with your fork...I'm not a sauce person and it really DOES improve the taste...though the steak stands on its own.) We all split a flan for dessert and I liked it better, due to its thicker consistency, but I think it surprised some of the others. The service was not just attentive, but treated you like you're family from the moment we walked through the door. One of my friends was (lightly) teased for ordering a double espresso and I had a waitress run over when she saw I was eating my food "all wrong." The high quality of food and service would make this place successful in any major city; if that city were Dallas I'd be a frequent regular there. As it is, we'll just have to wait for next year's pilgrimage to the mountains to revisit. read more

Wow, Wow, Wow!! I love it when I stumble upon a gem like Dan's! Thanks Yelp for steering me in the BEST direction. Dan's is great, staff is friendly and helpful, and the food is so good! I got the chicken kabobs with steamed veggies and fried plantains, simply tender juicy fresh sweet savory etc... a truly wonderful meal. Wife got the cuban sandwich and it was great too but the kabobs won that battle easily. We got the key lime pie and a fancy coffee and milk drink that paired great together. The key lime is REAL key lime, not the neon green crude everyone thinks is key lime! We had water to drink and the meal only came to $26! Thats great for a dinner for 2 with dessert and a coffee! We even had our 1yr old with us and the staff went out of their way to make sure he was happy bringing him crackers while we waited and talking with him. This is one of those places that is worth the drive to experience and share with others. I've already spread the word at work and will be taking my parents there this weekend. When visiting the Blue Ridge mountains, my friends and I happened upon Dan's Grill. I have to say we were all a bit surprised to find a Cuban restaurant in the middle-of-nowhere Georgia. But we were starving, and we all like Cuban food, so we decided to give it a try. And, wow! We were all really impressed! The food is amazing, from the papa rellena to the fried yuca to the sandwich cubano. Everything was authentically prepared, the service was OUTSTANDING, and the atmosphere was very clean and pleasant. My only "gripe" was that the flan was not really made properly; it was too thick and tasted as though it was made with cream cheese. Weird for me, but still really good. It just wasn't what I was expecting. When I head back to the mountains of Georgia, I will definitely be returning to Dan's! read more

We had dinner at Dan's Grill last night and experienced excellent service and great food. We enjoyed the chicken kabobs and the skirt steak. Servings are huge. We watched other diners order a variety of items and all were raving at their tables. This is a family establishment where Dan and Claudia's entire family participate. We love it. When I walked into Dan's this afternoon to pick up my carry out order I thought that this must be what heaven smells like. Quite simply divine. We've been coming over from Blue Ridge for many years and we've never left without commenting that this is the best food in the area. Dan's rivals, and in many cases surpasses, the numerous Cuban restaurants we've frequented in S Florida. Everything is terrific- fresh and perfectly prepared- but do yourselves a favor and try the skewered chicken, roast pork or roasted chicken (if on the menu the day you visit). Be sure to side with yellow rice and black beans. Fabulous! To top it off service is stellar and prices are great. Dan's is an unexpected gem in the North Georgia mountains. I've been hanging out at Dan's Grill since Claudia and Dan opened the restaurant. I've never ever had a bad meal, never disappointed, and always walk away happy. I've tried almost all the items on the menu and can't say there is one I like better than the other -- all choices are excellent. Dan is the chef along with his son, Claudia is always on board to greet customers, and the servers are efficient and friendly. Make sure to ask about the specials.
