Seafood Pancake. It was huge and really good!
Charis S.

Loved! Loved! Loved! First off...the amount of items to choose from is insane! Whatever you order, comes out hot and fresh, that's for sure. Our great waitress was super sweet, but it second one, she acted like she didn't wanna be there, but she didn't ruin a good time, trust me. Service was with and fast, didn't wait long for anything and the bell at your table was super convenient. This is not a quiet place by any means lol, music playing, server bells going off left and right, bright neon lights everywhere, it's definitely a great spot for a Friday or Saturday night get together. Off top, I highly recommend the wings, the lemon pepper was a 10/10, the bulgogi was tender and perfectly sweet and I really liked the seafood pancake. I look forward to going again and trying some new items!

Overall, the vibe and atmosphere were great, and the staff was friendly and welcoming. However, the food quality didn't meet our expectations. Despite some mixed reviews, we decided to give it a try for ourselves. Unfortunately, the corn cheese lacked the creamy texture we were expecting and tasted more like it came straight from a can. Of course, that's just our personal opinion and others may feel differently. While the service was good, the food fell short for us, and because of that, we likely wouldn't return.

We showed up on a weeknight and to our delight during happy hour. We were seated promptly and our food came as it was prepared. We really enjoyed the art and music inside and the food was delicious!! Such bang for your buck especially during happy hour. They had vegan/vegetarian options and easy parking in the lot. I will be returning!!!

Let's start out with the food: kimchi was bland, even if it was a quick pickle kimchi. (I would know since my wife makes homemade kimchi) The "spicy"chicken had 0 spice at all. The fries were the only thing that had flavor. The steamed egg soup was delicious according to my wife. Service: not real friendly or welcoming (was not busy when we got there at all). The waitress did not bring all my change back when I paid with cash. The ambiance was decent but very dive bar "ish". Not very welcoming to people who aren't familiar with the area. 3/10 don't really recommend.

Me and my friends went to DSS and it's a good weekend bite to eat when you want something late in the night. We ordered: - Kimchi Fries - They really load up on the kimchi which is great. You can't really mess up fries. It is a solid choice for when you just something to munch on. - Popcorn chicken - The flavor is good and the potion is huge. It is on the sweeter side, but they paired well with the kimchi on the fries. The kitchen closes at 4 in the morning so it was perfect when we didn't want the night to end. The venue was nice and the servers were quick.

Came back a year later and still just as good in flavor. The Asian salad family size is so good. Service was a bit off or slower from the last time, but that's ok, I'll visit again. Thanks

Been here several times and food is always great, never had a complaint. Decently clean with the vibes its giving. Restrooms are fine. My favorite has to be the grilled pork belly and the cheese rice cakes. Huge portions. Low rating specicially for service my husband got last night. The guy was super friendly and attentive however the girl could literally not care less. We got there around midnight so not even close to closing time. It was not overly busy or crowded but she was .. abrupt. And honestly just left a bad taste for us. She might need a refresher in customer service or just some common basic manners. She dropped food off and only gave us one plate. When we asked for a second plate she said "I gave you two didnt i?" My husband and I said no, its just one plate. She then goes to REACH and TOUCH FOR THE PLATE that's in front of my husband to check to see if its just really one plate. That was rude.. Are yall short on plates that we couldn't ask for another plate or something? Or think we were stealing? I dont understand the thought process of having to physically grab the plate that was already on the table to "check" if it was really just one plate or not. We ordered 3 items off the menu.. what if we wanted separate plates to keep the different items separate? We couldn't ask for more than 2 plates if you initially gave us 2??? Make it make sense.

Had seen some compelling reels for this place and took the opportunity to try it out as we passed thru Dallas. It's located in a small strip center and upon entering it is very dark and more of a dive bar atmosphere. Was a different ordering experience. We orders the Asian salad which was really good and large portion. We also ordered the cheese corn and the spicy garlic chicken. Lived the cheese corn can't go wrong there, but the garlic chicken was mediocre at best. Was an interesting place and maybe more fun if you go to do karaoke or with a large group.

Baby roach in my soup

I ordered food to go and as I'm eating my spicy tofu soup I come across a baby roach floating at the top. This has never happened to me before and let me say it's a different feeling of disgust. I don't usually right reviews but this needs to be acknowledged with the cleanliness of the kitchen and precaution on the food.

Chicken Bulgogi, LA Galbi, and Kimchi Fried Rice.

Food: spicy and hot () not sure if the rice is supposed to be crunchy. Service: quick, nice, and efficient () Ambiance: never-seen-before...loved it for a cool-night-life vibe! ()

This place is such a vibe! No pretense no frills. Just kpop wood benches and good food. Not to mention friendly prompt service. The menu QR code is at your table. You push the call button whenever you need service. It was happy hour so we ordered a few different things. The soju drinks were strong yet tasty. The food was good but for us the star was the kimchi jijae. We weren't rushed. We drank we ate we sang kpop and had a mini photo shoot in our booth. We will DEFINITELY be back.

I'm so excited to finally have had the chance to stop by this hidden gem! The spot is only open from 5:30 PM to 4 AM, making it a late-night favorite. As soon as you step inside, you can almost feel the stickiness of the floor, and the cleanliness doesn't seem to be top-notch. There's writing on the walls, and even a lantern made of masking tape. It definitely gives off a college bar vibe, but it's a scene I appreciate. Our meals were given family-style, which was perfect for sharing. The portions are generous way more than one person can handle. The food was piping hot and fresh off the stove, with just the right amount of spice. If you're not a fan of heat, definitely order accordingly! The flavors were phenomenal, and we were impressed by how affordable the meal was. We'll definitely be back soon! Here's what we ordered: - Kimchi Chigae ($11.99) - A delicious kimchi soup with pork - Bul Daezi ($14.99) - Super spicy pork

DSS has happy hour from 6-8 PM where specific appetizers and shots are only $5 along with half off entrees and alcohol, which was such a good deal for delicious Korean food. My friends & I got the french fries, corn cheese, LA galbi, seafood pancake, chicken wings, bulgogi quesadillas, & green tea shots. Everything was amazing but my favorite appetizer would be the bulgogi quesadillas. The restaurant itself has a lot of character as there are many signatures and writing from other guests around the restaurant with K-Pop playing as well. It was a great place for my friends to hang out at with an automatic gratuity for our party of 6. The service was okay and we did have to wait a little bit but to be fair there was only one server to our knowledge helping the whole restaurant. There will be a button available for you to press if you need your server.

Koryo Kalbi Korean BBQ has always been one of my favorite Korean BBQ restaurants in Dallas. A…read moreremodel and menu update even landed them in D Magazine's Best issue. But while this is a very prestigious endorsement, my past visit wasn't up to previous visits. My Overall Rating - 3 Stars (Atmosphere, Service, Food, Return) Atmosphere - There are several tables with built in grills and private rooms, and we didn't use our grill, but I was a bit uncomfortable in the restaurant. It was really hot in the restaurant, and I'm not sure they turned down the A/C. Aside from that, the restaurant is nice and clean. You can also check the meat display case for the beef and pork cuts on display. 1/2 Star. Service - Our server was very nice. He brought out water and another server brought all the wonderful Korean sides. The service was superb and is a reason they would have landed in D Magazine's Best issue. 1 Star. Food - The menu has been updated, and prices have gone up (everywhere). But my main issue was the Kalbi wasn't very tender. In fact, I had to use my hands to pull the meat from the bone. Granted, I always use this technique when eating Kalbi, but this time it took more effort. The marinated, grilled beef still had a delicious, sweet Korean flavor, and the Seafood Pancake is a must order. Overall, though, I've had a better experience in my past visits. 1/2 Stars. Will I Return? - Yes. I've been going to Koryo for years. I hope their recognition in D Magazine wasn't a signal for them that they've made it and stopped trying. I'm pretty loyal and will come back, and I hope they improve. 1 Star.

JOA Grill stands out as one of the top Korean BBQ experiences in Dallas, delivering a modern,…read moreupscale-yet-approachable take on classic table-side grilling in the heart of Koreatown. The restaurant shines with its premium, high-quality meats--sourced thoughtfully, including standout options from 44 Farms--carefully selected and prepared by Michelin-recognized chefs. Whether you go for the popular Taste of JOA (Signature or Premier boards) or individual cuts, the beef and pork options consistently impress with rich marination, perfect tenderness, and that satisfying sizzle on the grill. Popular favorites that reviewers rave about include the marinated bone-in short rib (galbi), prime short rib, ribeye, hanger steak, pork belly, and specialties like flash-fried short ribs or shrimp. The meats arrive beautifully presented, cook evenly at the table, and deliver deep, savory flavors--often described as juicy, flavorful, and reminiscent of authentic home-style Korean cooking elevated with premium technique. Sides (banchan) are a highlight: fresh, generous, and "unreal" according to many, with standouts like mushrooms, Brussels sprouts, steamed egg soufflé, corn cheese, kimchi fried rice, and soybean paste stew (doenjang jjigae) that round out the meal perfectly. The experience wraps up sweetly with ice cream for a complete, shareable feast ideal for groups or celebrations. The atmosphere enhances everything: lively, stylish, and vibrant with a sleek, modern interior featuring neon accents that feels fun and energetic without being overwhelming--perfect for date nights, family gatherings, or special occasions. Service earns frequent praise for being attentive, friendly, and knowledgeable, with staff guiding first-timers through the grilling process. Cocktails and drink towers add to the festive vibe, pairing beautifully with the smoky, savory food. Nuances and considerations: Pricing reflects the premium ingredients and experience (Taste of JOA runs around $42-$54+ per person, with upgrades for A5 Wagyu or larger parties), so value opinions vary--some see it as worth every penny for the quality and fun interactive element, while others note it can feel a bit higher-end for casual dining. A few reviews mention occasional inconsistencies in service pacing during busy times or subtle variations in ambiance depending on the crowd, but the majority describe it as consistently enjoyable and welcoming. Portions work best when shared, and the interactive grilling adds a social, hands-on layer that many love (bring a group to maximize the fun). Note that as of recent updates, the restaurant has been temporarily closed--check their website, social media, or call ahead for current status before planning your visit. Overall, JOA Grill excels at blending tradition with innovation: fire-kissed premium cuts, abundant flavorful sides, creative cocktails, and a lively yet comfortable setting make it a standout choice for anyone craving high-quality Korean BBQ in Dallas. It's frequently called one of the best in the city for good reason--great for meat lovers, groups, and those seeking an elevated yet fun dining adventure.

Took me a while to write this, but I came back here because I had a good dinner here and decided to…read moredo a Korean bbq closer to my home. We were even greeted with a welcome back and given a welcome back coupon, which I loved, so the night started out well. Now for context to my frustration, last time we went here, our server cooked everything, so we only came back because we wanted to go to a Korean bbq specifically where they cooked the meat for you as well. Apparently, that isn't the norm. We ordered drinks and then waited a substantial amount of time before the servers came back to ask for our food order. Literally the table next to us ordered before us and we're basically near the end of their meal before we even ordered. Mind you, we were seated right in the thick of where the servers go in and out of the kitchen and you can see everything going on (or lack of anything). Drinks took forever to come and they started cooking one of the meats and then never came back. They kept walking past our table and not saying anything. We had to tell them that we needed help and asked if someone was going to cook for us. They apologized and would start cooking again only when we complained, but then would proceed to leave and not come back until we asked again. They kept giving us excuses that they were short staffed, which is understandable, but not when we can see them literally doing nothing about it. There was no sense of urgency or trying to work harder since they were understaffed. They would stand at the little computer at the door to the kitchen looking like they were doing something, while the rest of the restaurant was being ignored. We mentioned to them multiple times that we were being ignored and they offered to take care of us with dessert or maybe comp something at the end. At this point, I'm quiet because I'm visibly annoyed by the incompetence and got to the point where I didn't even want to talk to the staff anymore. I kinda have RBF, so I know they were feeling my frustration. We were almost done eating and were waiting for them to start cooking the shrimp, which was the last meat on our combo, and the server came by and asked if we wanted the check. I was like, "we aren't even done eating, we were waiting for someone to cook the shrimp." Now if they initially told us that we would be cooking, this all wouldn't be a problem, but we were under the impression that they would cook our food, which was the root of the entire service problem we were having. Finally, they came by with desserts that were on the house, even though I really wanted them to just comp something instead, but they didn't give us the option. We didn't even want dessert, but were forced to eat it because they felt it was a good solution to the problems with service. They even asked if we wanted a shot on the house, but I didn't want to drink alcohol that night, and when I refused, they teased me about it. It's my business if I want to drink or not, but don't assume everyone thinks alcohol solves everything. That left a sour note in my mind and sealed the deal that we won't come back. For how expensive this restaurant is, they need to have top tier service, and this was not it. I suggest you stay away!
