We got a half bird with chili sauce that was super crispy!!! Not oily or dry at all, very tasty especially when paired with the coleslaw and pickled raddish. A Korean fusion restaurant... I was really hoping to write a better review for this place but I was under satisfied. Ordered a lychee cocktail from the bar and it was very weak... I did ask for them to cut the simple syrup but I don't think that would've helped either way. Next time I think I'll stick with the classic soju. For my meal I ordered the spicy spicy bop with pork... which was not spicy at all... actually sweet. My husband ordered the krispy wings and they were decent. I got the hot stone bibimbap and was HOT. So good making the rice crunchy and the steak was so good with it. The kimchi fries were also super yummy. My companion got the not your mama fried chicken with the spicy chili sauce and give sit an 8/10. The only complaint was a lot of white meat and that if they got extra sauce it would've made it better. Overall a wonderful experience. BBBop is a cute Korean itchen located in the Bishop Arts neighborhood of Dallas. It's very spacious and they get your food out quick. The staff were friendly and knowledgeable about the menu and they gave us great recommendations. We started with the Soy Garlic Krispy K Wings. The super crunchy, lightweight skin soaked up the soy garlic sauce and each bite was an explosion of flavor. They also have other flavors: sweet chili, sweet, and spicy chili or seoul fire. For entrees, we enjoyed the Spicy Chicken and Dumplings and For Realz Steak bowls. Be prepared for some heat with the chicken and dumpling, but it's good, flavorful heat. The chicken was tender and it created a cool texture with the dumpling pieces. We got the steak in a hot stone bowl ($2 extra) and it comes out still sizzling. Beware the hot stone keeps the dish hot for awhile and it takes a minute until it's a comfortable temperature to eat. It creates a layer of crispy rice on the bottom, that's so good. It has that traditional bulgogi beef flavor, fresh veggies and fire sauce that make that make an excellent dish. I look forward to visiting BBBop again; next time I want to try the Coconut Curry Bop Bowl and a Joy ice cream sandwich for dessert. read more

The food came out pretty fast (less than 10min) and the cashier answered any questions we had. We came in on a weekday for lunch and there wasn't any line. We decided to get the full dish and for the protein you can pick between chicken, beef, spicy pork and tofu. We decided to get the beef and honestly the fries were amazing. The fries were super crispy and it went so well with all the toppings that are included. We also decided to get a side of wings (which in a variety of sauces, some being mild and ranging to spicy). The wings itself was nothing special, it was fairly crispy and the flavor were pretty good but I have definitely had better wings in the past. Service was horrible! Came in with a group of 6, went ahead and ordered at the self service since nobody was at the counter upon arrival. After placing our order, the machine decided to stop working and not accept any payments. No problem, we called for an employee and they kindly took pics of our order and put it in the employee kiosk. While waiting, I saw that they have a shareable bibibop! I asked to replace my 2 premade bibibops (that were sitting on the counter) that i had ordered. The male employee with long brunette hair and glasses said sure no problem! Looking at the sign, I swear the price said $12! I know I'm not the only one who thought that because other customers thought so too! After we ordered, we kindly took our numbers and sat at a table. We got the 2 premade bibibops from a server and I said I took these off my order in exchange for the shareable platter. She looked at me and said that's not what it says on the receipt. I'm confused and I look around for the employee who helped me and I don't see him. I repeat myself and she just walks away. We waited for 30-45 minutes for food to come out. At the 1 hour mark, we noticed that had received 4 entrees and not the other 2. After speaking up, we realized the male employee ended up removing 2 entrees instead of the 2 premade bibibops. The employees did not offer any compensation or even apologize. At this point I'm extremely frustrated, I just wanted to take my family out and 2 of them didn't even receive their food. The curry ranch wasn't strong enough for me so the fries felt underwhelming (I'd try kimchi fries instead) as did the wings (the soy ginger flavor was better than curry ranch). My sis had a curry bowl which was tasty, I opted for the orange bowl (no egg) and it wasn't saucy and didn't have much seasoning. Is it possible this restaurant has only gotten better over the years? Every time I come back I feel like the food just gets more delicious. I will brave the traffic and the heat to come here any day. My favorite thing on the menu is the coconut curry bop + curry fries, the curry was particularly creamy and delicious today. The portion was huge and I ended up taking half to-go for dinner. The curry fries, oh my, I don't know what kind of magical fryer they're working with in the kitchen but the fries are consistently perfectly crispy on the outside and fluffy on the inside. We appreciated the outdoor dining space even though the inside was nice and cool. It was a bit sunny, and hot outside, and adjacent traffic was at times loud. The flies were a bit annoying but at least we felt comfortable being able to social distance from others. We ordered the Old School Bibimbops, Korean Glass Noodles, and Not Your Mama's Fried Chicken. The food overall was okay. The fried chicken certainly wasn't what we were expecting. While we were eating it, we couldn't help but feel this had more of a Chinese influence, than Korean. There didn't appear to be anyone on the staff that was Korean or spoke Korean either. The noodles and rice had a stronger than usual flavor of sesame oil. Not that it was bad, but just made us wonder, who back there was responsible for the "Korean" food. Everything about this place is pretty much self-service or cafeteria style. You go up to the counter, order and pay for your food. They bring the food out to you, but you get your own drinks, utensils, and clear your table after you eat. Why then am I being asked to pay a tip? $10 for you to bring my food out to me? I normally don't have any qualms about selecting the "No Tip" button, but in this particular case, I guess I couldn't find it, or maybe I was just distracted. Either way...it doesn't make any sense. Ask me for a tip after the meal, not before. That just screams entitlement. I'm just not a fan of that type of arrangement. read more

After visiting downtown, my sister and I decided to have dinner here. It's casual Korean food and as much as I wanted to try their bibimbap rice bowls, the fries looked so good. You order at the register first and they give you a number stand you place at your table. It was actually quiet when we dined in but that just meant our food came out quickly. You also have the option to dine outside which I saw a couple groups do. What we ordered: -Gangnam Kimchi Fries -Takos Tacos (spicy pork inside) with a side of Curry Fries We were planning on checking out other eateries so these two dishes were good enough for us. The fries on both dishes were nice and crispy. It's always an extra star when the fries aren't thick and seasoned well. Like many other visitors here, we decided to order because of the reputation of the fried chicken... voted best in TX (allegedly). At $32 for a whole chicken, this wasn't cheap eating by any means, but we thought the establishment had earned that margin with the accolades and were willing to give it a shot. Anyway: It was some of the driest, over fried, stale, bland fried chicken I've ever tried... and I've tried hundreds of variants between the Middle East, India and all over the US. The white meat/breast pieces in particular were simply embarrassing. The pieces were tiny and seemed like they buy smaller chickens to max the margin. We ordered a whole chicken but it looked incomplete... as if they had cut up the breast and only served half. We ordered spicy and only tasted sweet. We got takeout. I regret not eating there in person... this is the kind of thing you speak to the manager about. Our family couldn't believe the validity of the award this chicken are known for... like... who were the judges?! "Not your mamas fried chicken" is a ballsy name for this chicken flavored cardboard. We also tried the orange chicken rice dish, which was ok... bits of diced chicken breast in rice and some diced salad elements with a dash of sweet orange sauce. Nothing earth shattering... I've had better rice bowls. One star for the rice bowl... zero for the fried chicken. We live some distance away, so if we are back in the area in the next couple of days, we will try to get it replaced in the hopes that this was a one off screw up by the chef... we all have our bad days.
