Found this place on Yelp and what a find. It's looks like nothing from the outside and inside don't expect fancy but it is very clean. That said the food will blow you away. Drinks strong and reasonable. The food portions are enormous I got the single order and it would have feed 2 for sure. The Fire chicken is hot, if you love spicy a must try!! Sunny is a wonderful server and a great hire. I came in and she told me that she is only a couple of months into serving here! The food and night life is good which is why I come here still. But Sunny has created a regular out of me and I will only ask for her as long as she is working because of the care and time she puts into making her drinks and providing friendly service. My wife and I had a very good time. She is a funny server and that is much needed. Her drinks are better than the cups of syrup we usually get. She really knows how to make drinks and have a fun time. SHE EVEN OFFERED US TO PLAY BOARD GAMES. Since she saw that we were on a date. Which I have never been asked that before. Came with friends and was highly disappointed. We ordered chapaguri because the waitress insisted there was no spice. We got it at the table and you could literally see the spice in the sauce. You know how sauce gets that redish color and your nostrils can smell it. We all tried it and our lips were burning. She insisted it wasn't even when we kept telling her. Per the recommendation of Peter "The Skeeter" H. I decided to check them out. For whatever reason I didn't know there was a large enough population of Korean peeps in these parts that would be able to sustain a Korean bar of the bangin' proportions this place indicated to us. It was a reminder of what we used to have back in Chicago more than a decade or so ago. Those times are long gone and replaced with business owners willing to replace K staff with underpaid staff that can't cook for shit. I came for good bar food and that's what we got. Tastes that sent my mind thinking of awesome times had at Korean bars back in Chicago so many years ago now. That was when the flavors were authentic and before they sold out to doing things a cheaper way. We had the spicy thukkbokki with ramen and I really wanted a dish like sam kyub sal kim chi bokkum, instead their waiter suggested another spicy, pork belly type dish. The flavors were on point, spicy at the right level and we went to town on that meal. For the sake of old memories I added in a pitcher of yogurt soju. I'd forgotten the flavor of Soju since it's a liquor I only drink out of sentiment now. When drinking the pitcher I thought.. wow, this thing is so light. Meaning, where is the freaking booze? The thing about Soju is, the buzz catches up to you slowly and much later. Usually around the time you make it out to a karaoke bar. My DD came in handy. The bar was not busy on the night we checked them out. Mid week night. Service stunk as it usually does at any Korean bar with awesome food. No back and forth with any staff, just cold responses like a bowl of naengmyeon. Dishes are costly like most K bars tend to be these days. I didn't mind it so much though, only because the food did it for me. The food brought back fond memories and I dug the interior of the bar, I am rating them four stars for this. The decor is quite common in themed bars like this back in Korea. If I were local, I'd hit this place up weekly. I always go to the carrolton location but happened to be in harry hines so I came here with some friends one night. The interior is pretty different compared to the carrolton location but the menu is exactly the same. The only difference is the hh. The happy hour special they have during summer are 4 dollar shots of crown, titos, and jame and some random soju bottle with 3 beers for 15. This locatiom however, stopped doing the 4 dollar shots even tho carrolton location still did it. The interior is pretty much covered in hand written graffiti over the years of people writing all over the resturant. But I guess it gives the place a sense of nostalgia because it has been around forever I beleive. The interior is dark and is pretty different and has a different vibe thats hard to explain but it is very unique for sure. I understand why so many people come here but it is a bit too far for me and located in a shady area that carrolton seems a bit more safe and clean so I rather go there. read more

Dansungsa still has the vibe but otherwise I feel like a lot of things have changed compared to the last time I visited (pre-COVID). I took some friends here, remembering how much I used to love it and sadly regretted it. I'm so sorry to the cashier who asked me how everything was but I didn't have the heart to tell you the truth... The service was prompt when you rang the button and the check out was fast and easy but the food quality has disappointing. We only ordered off the happy hour menu and were so unimpressed that we didn't want to order anything else. The seafood pancake was extremely batter heavy with some veggies and almost zero seafood. The ramen was spicy and the texture was ok but otherwise not very flavorful (friends described it as watered down). My friends also got the mandoo and wings, which they felt were ok but overall everything felt like I could have gotten frozen versions at Hmart and made it better at home. read more

Just excellent! I came here with a friend at the start of Happy Hour after seeing the spot featured on Dallas Sites 101. The atmosphere is so fun - you would not suspect it from the outside! Bring a marker to add something to the table or walls. We ordered the orange chicken, bulgogi, lemon pepper wings, jjapaguri, and drinks (Sex on the Beach and a Blue Hawaiian). Everything was so flavorful and fresh! Those happy hour prices are hard to beat and I wanted to order more and more...will just have to come back! The orange chicken had a nice crisp breading, the bulgogi was melt in your mouth delicious, the wings were bursting with flavor, and the jjapaguri had a nice kick. The drinks were delicious too - I've been looking for a good Blue Hawaiian in Dallas and did not expect to find it here! Awesome experience tonight with my group of friends. Great laid back atmosphere. Food was decently priced and they give huge portions. My favorite was the rice cake wrapped in bacon. It was almost like eating a cheeto with bacon. Kimchi pancake is very good too. Korean fried chicken is the best, you can't go wrong with it. The waiter suggested we try the flavored soju and thank goodness because we ALL loved to yogurt soju. It was amazing to say the least. I would highly recommend this place for groups. Cons I have: I wish the plates weren't so small. It was hard for everyone to eat on cake serving size plates. Also, I would have liked to be served rice with my Bulgogi and pork with squid. This is absolutely my favorite place to go for a late night snack! This location closes at 5 AM and the one in Carrollton closes at 2 AM. Their service is always great no matter how busy they get. They food is absolutely amazing. If you go, get the padak and kkanpoonggie! I always get these two dishes. The portions are generous so plan on sharing with your friends! The kkanpoonggie is a spicy lemon chicken and it has just the right amount of tang it to. Absolutely phenomenal! We are regulars here at both locations!! Definitely recommend!!! read more

This was my first time coming here. The atmosphere was amazing! The appetizers had me waiting on the edge of my seat for the main course. When we got the chicken the presentation was nice but the taste wasn't exactly what I was expecting. The spicy chicken had a strong initial taste of tomato or chili paste followed with a bland spice. The garlic onion chicken had a lot of potential it just needed a bit more sweetness added to the sauce. Overall I would come back to try another main dish but definitely getting the dumpling & calamari again! read more

I love this place. This place is so hole in the wall and the ambiance is so stellar! I love the bar like feel with the privacy that the booths provide. The korean music in the background is also a nice touch! I have been coming here since I moved back up to Dallas back in 2011 and I have been coming here ever since. Usually I go with friends to chill and take back some strawberry soju shots (strawberry one is the best!) and the soju doesn't last very long since it's so good! We also order the "lunchbox" which has a fried egg, rice, with a dash of kimchee inside. I have also gotten the kimmarri, which is glass noodles rolled up in seaweed then fried, with dukkbokie. VERY tasty! Make sure you have at least 3 people with you to finish this! A spicy chicken and potato soup is also very good. I have gotten paddak before, but it's not as good as the chicken that's marinated in a sauce. It takes a little longer, but way worth the wait! Definitely a place to check out with some friends! Definitely could order 1 plate of meats and feed two people. We ended up getting 7 plates and splitting the cost between all 8 of us (came to about 20$ per person). Apparently this is THE place to go after hitting up the strip clubs in the area as it is open late and serves such large portions of food. Since we had arrived pretty early in the night (8:30ish) the restaurant was not full. Heard this place is super packed around midnight to 2AM. Just a heads up, wait staff here is pretty slow. They have these buttons that you push on the wall for service, but we there were times we would press the buttons and wait about 5+ minutes before anyone came to us (I came to think the buttons weren't really connect to anything). Found this restaurant late night. It was one of the only restaurants open. I called and made and order over the phone, but when we arrived we learned that they still didn't have our food ready so we had to wait another 20 min. Once we got our food back home it was almost like the chicken was luke warm and it was suppose to be a Korean spicy and it wasn't spicy at all. The fries were ok they weren't the best but overall, for a late night place to grab some food, this would definitely be the place to do it. I wouldn't make a "must go to" spot but if your out with friends and need something on the go, I'd go again and maybe try something else. read more

I usually choose DSS as a go to for casual late night food. I think the best combo is to order a Doshirak and Fish Cake Soup and depending on how big your group is, there's a lot more options. They have lots of seating for groups of various sizes. As for service, depending on how late you go and the day you go, I think sometimes it's limited. It's kind of like a sit down bar type of restaurant so my expectation is that it's not your 5-star service but not bad enough where I will never step foot into this establishment. So, if you need a late night snack/drink, even on a weekday, DSS is recommended. read more

The reason I had to explain the love I have for my old favorite cocktail is so that I could properly convey the emotion I feel when I say that Adios Mother Father is better. That's right. Adios Mother Father is better than the legendary libation of my mind. It's sour, blue, and strong. It tastes like bacchanalia in a glass. DanSungSa is the coolest fucking bar I've been to in Dallas. The exterior looks a bit sketchy at night, with it's old pay phone booth and dimly lit parking lot. The interior has graffiti everywhere and each booth has a red buttons to ring for service.
