I ordered to go " Spicy and sour red snapper Sashimi with mix with veggie" last night. I just could not resist craving for Korean food, so I drove all the way to Dallas 1 in the morning(sound crazy huh lol). As soon as I drove home, opened the container and start eating like a horse. Smell was so good that I notice my mouth start watering. The minute that I begun eating Sashimi, expecting that this is going to be scrumptious... On No... That was my big mistake. It was just too spicy to eat it first of all, and all you can taste was a sesame seed oil. It had lots of raw green onion which added more bitter and spicy taste to it, and I could not continue eating anymore but threw everything away. Come to think of it, it was not even sour, either. Nice vibes inside. You totally wouldn't expect it when you're looking at it from the outside. The food was pretty solid but I wasn't too crazy about their kimchi fries, it's just a weird combination. We had to flag down a waiter multiple times because he never stopped by our table. And I think they need to invest in some real plates though but overall a good experience! read more

This place is awesome!! It's in a shopping strip sorrounded by other Korean restaurants/stores and it doesn't look like much from the outside. On the inside it's all wooden booths and dim lights. I've been here twice and both times were great. Last time we had the seafood pancake as an appetizer. Then we had the spicy chicken bulgogi with the perfect amount of spice in the sauce. This dish came with a salad that was delicious, not your typical side salad. We also had a dish with spicy sausage, again, awesome. For drinks we had the maple soju, grapefruit soju, and yogurt soju. The yogurt one is my favorite!! Careful with the dishes that are noted as extremely spicy because they really are. I've seen people cry lol. Was it the best Korean I've ever had? No, not quite. Overall, the food was okay, nothing incredibly mouthwatering, but just a-ok. Service was awful (have you ever tried eating kimchi jigae with a plastic spoon?) but I guess you can't win 'em all! read more

One of my Korean friends introduced me to this place, and I've been a big fan ever since. I am not sure what it is called, but we call it the, "Yum yum chicken." Servings are generous, rice is cooked correctly (sadly, there have been a few Asian restaurants I've been to who under or overcook it), and the staff works FAST! Amazing food, a great price that is more than reasonable, and speedy service from the employees. If you're looking for a good Korean food spot, look no further. read more

This is a pretty swell place. We came here late on a Sunday night to finish off a night of football-margarita fun. The wooden benches are neat and we even had a marker to write on the walls. We ordered a bucket of Hite Beer, cheese corn, and some spicy chicken soup (excellent). The rice came in a tin box with a fried egg on top and kim chi on the side. Perhaps it was the munchies, but everything was very good. Definitely not your typical bar food. Service was nice but our friend knew the waiter so I'm not sure if it would be the same if I came alone. Either way, I will come back again and start my night off here next time. read more

i get it and i understand your work. i respect how hard you might be working and I was trying to be nice to you as well the whole time. we were about to leave as soon there was a plastic cutlery and foam plates on the table but None of us wanted to feel bad about whatever was going on so we said we were fine. I tip by cash and my friends were drunk it was just your tone and the way of asking with your anger towards me that i decided to not leave any more tip! but please be more polite to your next customer and try to understand what and how the customer is reacting. my reaction was neutral until you said you need to answer your boss this and that i was so surprised because none of the restaurants employee say that and also i was signing the receipt and you decided yourself is that tip? and started questning this and that without me being able to tell you i ll pay rest by cash! please give actual spoon and forks when people come in for dine they donot expect a plastic cutlery! Ask yourself: Do I want delicious Korean food and soju at 1 am on a Sunday night, but don't care at all if the service is not good? Then this should be where you come. That's what we did this past Sunday after not being ready to call it a night at 10 pm. Honestly there aren't many places to go eat and drink on a Sunday night so I'm really glad this place exists. Sure it's kind of in a strip mall off the I35, but inside you can barely tell. I always feel like I've stepped into someone's homemade underground bunker when I step in here. The whole place is super dark, TVs blaring Kpop (Gangnam Style even came on woo!), and each booth, constructed out of plywood, is walled off as it's own little treehouse. Service is not so great, (i.e. it takes awhile before they come around) but that's not a huge deal because at least I didn't feel rushed to be out of there. I wonder if it has to do with not speaking Korean? The only words I know of Korean are "delicious", "thank you" "grandma/grandpa" and "hey you over here!". The food is so good. Get the bonchon Korean fried chicken or the bulgolgi 'tuckpocky' (topokki: rice cakes). The portions are huge so don't be turned off by the price (~$15-20). One dish is enough for 3 people. The ramen here at $4.99 was pretty good too. I think they just use store bought ramen packet but somehow make it pretty magical. This night, we got the yogurt soju which had a lot of foam. It should taste just like the probiotic Yakult yogurt drinks. I probably wouldn't get it again because there didn't seem to be much alcohol content in it though. At the end of the night, we asked for the rest of our tuckpocky to be boxed up, but I think a misunderstanding in language led them to throw it away! This is the worst ending to any story. read more

So me and my friends was craving for some good Korean Food, and we are at 35. Oh well, why not just give DSS a try? So we go in, we order Korean Chicken wings, butter corn, bugolgi, veggie, and some rice box. Well I was impress with the Korean chicken wings and the rice box. The chicken wings is mixed with korean seasoning and some bbq sauce I believe and it is a really good mix with the rice box. The bugolgi is pretty good but not as impressive as the Chicken wing. Dan Sung Sa deserves 5 stars for 3 reasons. 1. Great cultural atmosphere. Korean came first and English was a close second. A great blend of getting local tasty food just by asking the bartender. 2. Great food. Our bartender recommended the spiciest item per my request (Super spicy chicken). It was a product that lived up to its name. Washed it all down with a cold brew and I was ready to observe our national pastime event, people watching. 3. Happy vibes. With everyone having their fill of late night grub it was time to dance it off! The DJ was playing various music and continuously play PSY's gangnam style to pump the crowd all night. 4....just for good measure. Did I mention all this occurred after 1am? This place is my new hang-out spot. Been here a couple of times, and I'm digging this place. Had their yogurt soju along with their banana makkoli- both in which I gulped them both down because there were so delicious. They have some specials through out the week, and I'm willing to make the 45 minute drive for these specials if I don't have to report early into work the next day. Yes, I like this place THAT MUCH. Excellent music selection. A great place to chill..and even for first dates. Food is good, too! I'm planning to come on a Sunday soon for their special to get my makkoli on along with a FREE kimchi pancake/seafood pancake/ Japanese pancake (get to pick one)!! There are even certain days (Wed/Thurs, I believe) where you can get all-you-can-drink-cocktails for a set price ($15 for girls, $20 for guys..I believe..). Recently visited Dallas and the overall food was pretty good. The seafood pancake was undercooked a little bit and was still slightly doughy. The service was definitely not the greatest, since they ran out of soup spoon while my table had to eat the kimchi jigae with a small plastic spoon. After spending a year away in South Korea, DanSungSa reminds me of all the late nights I spent in Seoul. It is very reminiscent of the bars in Korea and with Korean pop blasting in the background, I feel like I'm right back in the streets of Seoul at 3 am. The yogurt soju here is delicious. If you are familiar with soju, you know it is either hit or miss - you either get a bottle of soju that has a tolerable after taste or a bottle of soju that has an after taste that makes you cringe. With yogurt soju, you get no after taste thanks to the sheer sweetness of the yogurt. It's a great way to drink without having to guess whether or not the soju is going to make you curl up in the fetal position in your seat. If you do just order plan soju, hot broth-y soups are the best way to go to cleanse your pallet. We got the clam soup and shared it amongst a group of 6 people. It was hot, tasty, and had a whole lot of clams in it. Along with the clam soup, we got a rice box, egg pancakes rolled up into little rolls, and soft squid that you tear into pieces and dip into sriracha sauce. 1 giant bottle of yogurt soju and 4 bottles of soju later, we were all happy, full and probably a bit buzzed. DanSungSa is a great little hangout for those people looking for a bit of South Korean nightlife here in Dallas. And I'll definitely be back for the yogurt soju. read more

Went there last Monday and going again tomorrow to hang out. My friends apparently love this place maybe for the same reasons I did when first coming here 5-7 years ago. It's a laid back, hole in the wall in k-town that's just chill to drink at. They surprisingly have really good korean food too. Out of the main 3 bars Khan, Key, or DSS, this place has the best food of the 3. For Korean people this is definitely a solid round 1 or 2 place to go, round 3+ always ending up in karaoke of course. read more

we ordered steamed pork with veggie and boneless fried chicken nuggets with sweet mustard and green onions to go. the pork was not gamey as most pork can be. however lacked the tenderness that this dish usually has. the chicken could have probably been better had it been crispy but since we got it to go it lost the crispness. overall the food was okay. I'll definitely be back to try some of their other staples but would probably not have the items we ordered this go round. read more

Define Korean bar and DanSungSa (DSS) immediately comes to mind. They've been around as long as I was old enough to drink, ooh makes me feel old, and they're continuously improving. Love the chill and laid back atmosphere. Come here to get your drink on and have fun. When you need to refuel, whether it be in the form of alcohol or food, they've got you covered. Food is great for a bar, maybe even better than some restaurants. It can get pretty loud sometimes later on in the evening so not the best place to have a conversation. They frequently have promotions so friend them on facebook to keep up to date. read more

Fun place to eat at! It's pretty loud because they're blasting kpop videos. Lots of soju flavors too if you like to drink. The food is decent if you wanna grab something late at night, but it's mainly a drinking place. The spicy fried chicken wings are really good! Ddukboki is okay, and bean paste stew is also mediocre.
