my first 1 star review goes to this place. im not sure why this place has the reviews that it has. we had a terrible experience. the service was poor and the food was even worse. we only came here since it was one of the few spots that was open past midnight. to start off the waitress did not give us utensils or enough water. that was not the only issue our group experienced. we ordered the spicy tofu soup and it was the worst tofu soup that we've ever had. it was extremely bland and not spicy at all despite it being a spicy dish. we literally had to ask for salt on the side. we also ordered the kimchi fried rice and when it came out there was no cheese even though the menu and pictures clearly showed it w cheese. when we told the waitress she told us that she doesn't think the dish came with cheese and asked us if we still wanted cheese. she took the plate back and came out 20 mins later with the fried rice after most of us had finished our meals. the fried rice and cheese was cold and unappetizing. our other friend ordered the bulgogi which was $18. for the price and amt of meat it came with it, it was not worth it at all. the only decent thing we ordered was the fish cake soup. when it was time to pay the bill we had to approach the front/cashier since we were unsure on how to pay. we had to remind the cashier on what we ordered since they didn't remember. they also charged us 20% auto gratuity which was we felt was undeserved. when we spoke to the manager ab our concerns she brushed it off and seemed uninterested. she offered a discount for our next visit but we have no plans on returning. now we know why it was empty and dead inside :D ig: @whatsviveating read more

Always love coming here for late night meals with friends. I love the ambiance of the store. Their service is always great! The owner is super helpful and friendly! It's a great place to eat with a large group of friends or even with just a few friends. Their food portions are fairly large and everything tastes delicious! I love their chicken and cheese! It comes out on this huge plate and it's more than enough to share among a group of 5-6 people. Their soups are delicious too! And the pork belly is amazing! Ordered the wings as Korean Spicy. They were fried, unseasoned and then had sauce thrown over them. None of the stuff we ordered was cooked with seasonings or sauces, just thrown together. We couldn't even enjoy a conversation because more people came in and there was a guy drilling through a wall in the same area! I love DSS. My first time here was in 2018 when I visited Dallas for the first time from CA. Now that I live in Dallas, this is my go to, to celebrate birthdays , bring out of town visitors and late night eats when I'm craving their Tongchip (Chicken gizzards), tuckpocky (rice cake), grilled pork belly, Korean fried chicken, soon tofu soup...well basically everything on the menu. Speaking of which, they played music from the concert which was awesome. Everything we tried was excellent and we were accommodated quite well. From the food to service, everything was overhyped and unfortunately underwhelming. Starting with the food: there were technical issues and for the items we ordered, the portions were small for the price. For a noodle dish, the japchae had almost no noodles and was served extremely hot. For those that expect a room temperature japchae, it could be jarring. Flavor wise was okay but the cabbage chunks were extremely large. Bulgogi was average and served with no rice. The "Tuckpocky" was overcooked and too soft and disintegrated and it was mostly sauce and cheese. They also brought someone else's order and then we corrected them and they kept bringing someone else's order well after. They charge extra for battered on fried wings, but it had a super thin layer of fry texture. In terms of flavor and batter, bb.q Chicken is far superior. The only positive thing was there was an even distribution of drumettes to flaps and are a decent size. Considering that we ordered several dishes, I would expect at least a kimchi banchan but there was nothing. The water itself was awful and had a weird aftertaste of sink smells/flavors and caused a gag reflex. I suspect that it was what caused some of the moments of weird aftertaste in the food. Overall, I would suggest sticking to the bar/street type food options rather than actual dishes. We also had multiple issues with just basic service. Sharing plates were wet and we had to dry it with our napkins. It maybe helpful to consider some sort of option where napkins and utensils are automatically available on the table like with a container. I'm not sure if it was a hearing or possible language barrier issue, but the server had no clue to questions about the food/menu. read more

Went when there was only 2 tables being served and the wait staff was terrible. The food was average but the location looks pretty neat inside, as an authentic Korean restaurant which is why I gave it 2 stars I literally rang the bell 7 times and no one came to attend my table, even as the waitress was serving food next to our table, she didn't bother asking if every thing was "okay" or "if we needed anything". Not sure if it's an inexperienced wait staff but it is very unprofessional. So I came during their happy hour my total was 40 bucks. Your first meat is half off and everything else is less that 7 dollars. They open late at night and have drink specials every week. Good fun Korean spot their happy hour specials are big portions so be-careful not to over order ! On Friday's they're open from 5-5 ! They have a drink of the week which the guy had told us is 5 bucks ! Good food ! They also have a ring bell survive so if u ring the bell they will come to you! Very fast. You pay at the front ! Leaving as I type this. Party of two people We walked in around 2, were told head chef was out and wait for food would be about an hour. It was our first time in but we agreed to wait. After waiting for about an hour without being approached we asked a worker for two waters. He told us he couldn't do food and could only provided us drink. I clarified that we were asking for waters. He then told us they were only seating people for alcohol. I told him when we were sat we were told an hour ish wait for food and that we're fine with that but just wanted waters for the wait. He told us he'd take the order but couldn't promise us it'd come out. Then proceeded to list everything on the menu that was out. We decided to leave. The atmosphere and vibe was pretty dope. Had Korean pop & r&b'ish music in the background. Being from New York, I am still adjusting to the Dallas scenery and restaurant scene. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Food was terribly over priced and service was poor. Out of a party of 5, 3 of us had to send our food back and when it came back 20 minutes later it looked like they just stuck it in the microwave. Open super late which is nice when you want somewhere to go at the end of your night but are not in the mood for fast food. Like other reviews mentioned, you push a button to have your waiter stop by as the seating is all enclosed booths. Our waiter was friendly, though we did have to push the button more than once after food was served in order to get her to come back and bring the check. However, it was late and there was a big group there at the same time. I really liked my bulgogi beef dish and lychee martini. My friend order the kimchi fried rice but neither of us liked it. They forgot to put cheese on a dish that came with cheese and took 30 minutes to put cheese on and we were done with our meal by the time it came out and still made us pay. Ridiculous establishment please never come here.
